So to play devil's advocate, whilst the Queen did not oversee any further colonial expansion, she was the head of state whilst Britain still held some of her colonies, predominantly in Africa. I say all this as a firm supporter of the Empire.

I agree entirely with you Julia. With a long life in Industry I have found that the majority of university graduates are pretty unemployable. I worked in a high tech industry in later years and the general view among my colleagues is that it took five years to make them useful. One has to ask the obvious question, are most of our universities fit for purpose. After retiring from from industry I worked in retail for ten years. Surprisingly many of the people I worked with had a, so called, degree but were working at the bottom of the pile. For some it was personal choice (no stress) for others I wouldn't trust them to wipe their own backsides without instructions.

I think all this woke and political correctness stuff in universities must be a side show. I really don’t understand how it helps prepare people for careers which what university is for in my opinion. Why are they not focussing on their study, is it too hard for them?
