As always, great video. Very informative. My 71 has the L shaped clip at the front and rear of the panel at the bottom. I had to add a screw to the top front just like yours to keep the panel tight against the door. The factory hook and loop clips on the back of the panels never seem to hold very well. Keep up the good work.
Hi Mark, thanks for your comment. I thought some had a clip at the front of the panel, so thanks for confirming that. I added spacers (about five years too late), to prevent denting and deforming the panel and they help. Wish I’d done that at the beginning. If I was installing new panels today I’d ask you to machine a few custom pieces. lol 😆 Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
Very informative video! I still remember the first time I removed a Corvette door panel, it was 1984 on a Ontario Orange 1972 Corvette, fixed the door lock on it and loved that car, knew I had to have one after that! Great video! Thanks for sharing!
When I replaced my panels, i just used the 2 L clips, door handle screws and lock knob to keep the panel in place. Have had no issues and much easier to remove and install when messing with the door /window hardware. Excellent vid. Gotta get those bullet mirrors. Such a hassle pointing the side mirrors in the right direction all the time.
Just came across your channel. I currently own a 76 Vette. It was sitting for 21+ years, so Ive been slowly but surely getting it back on the road over the past 5 years. Everything made of rubber pretty much had to be replaced.
@@76vette yeah, I got it running last weekend. Has a 383 stroker w/ 3500 stall turbo 350 trans. Today Im currently upgrading the side mirrors to C6 style mirrors due to someone putting some rectangle style two bolt mirrors on it They dont match the body lines at all, hence the reason I found your video on how to remove the door panel. 👍
My 77 project drivers side door is stuck closed with the window up. It will not open or unlock. How do I go about opening the door? Good thing the passenger side still opens
Why is the window stuck? Is the door panel in place? Without actually seeing it in person no one can give you an answer. The best course of action is taking it to a professional and let them open the door and fix the problem. Otherwise, something will get broken or damaged. Good luck!
@@jwagg77 If you want to get it repaired and running properly for sentimental reasons, then spend the money. Otherwise, buy a good C3 and start enjoying it right away. Just my two cents.
First, make sure the birdcage, floor pans, and frame are ok. Those are VERY expensive to repair or replace. A good shop should be able to get it back to driving condition for a whole less, but then again I don’t know if your car needs a new motor, for example. Either way, be prepared to wait and spend at least twice what you think this project will cost. Oh, and a proper paint job will probably be $10K or more. Car restoration is an expensive hobby and I would not borrow money to have a car restored. That is a very bad idea. Good luck!
I just bought a 75 corvette and my driver side window is not rolling down. How do i go about fixing it? Is it the motor in the door panel? Im still new to the corvette gang
Congrats on your “new” Corvette 😊👍🏻 The window motor is inside the door itself and you will need to remove the panel to get to it. But before you tear into it, make sure the up/down switch is working properly. I suggest you watch this video by Problem Solver Garage which shows step by step how to test and fix power window issues. ua-cam.com/video/r1iBgjK1SC8/v-deo.html Good luck!
Hey there, I couldnt find your video that showed the Metal rods behind door panels that have rubber hose attached tpi prevent rattles with zip ties and I wanted to know what diameter the hose is?
Very informative, I'm wondering how to I remove the mirrors? I have a 73 and I have the same ones as you but I'm swapping them out for chrome ones. Are there screws from the inside or can I remove them from the outside? :)
Since the sport mirrors were not available from the factory for the ‘73 model, it is safe to assume someone installed them at a later date. Therefore, it’s hard to know how they were attached, but my guess is that they (hopefully) used the easiest method and attached a base to the door with a couple of screws and the mirror is secured to the base with just one screw at the front of the mirror post. So, if you look at the mirror post and see a small Philips head screw, remove it so you can take the mirror off, and then remove the base plate. If the driver’s side mirror has a remote adjustment, then you will need to remove the door panel to disconnect the mechanism. If there’s no post screw, then they are secured with nuts from the inside of the outer door skin and removal would be more challenging, although still doable. After all, someone installed them. Anyway, I hope that helps. 😊👍🏻
Suggest you watch part of the video linked below where it covers how actuator rods are connected and what they do. I cannot give you a suggestion without understanding the problem. ua-cam.com/video/jD7nARw_KSA/v-deo.htmlsi=QtvtZT5ETaDqFAq4 You may want to fast forward to 23:23. @@76vette Thanks for the quick response. In the meantime I located this utube video. It explains the problem and how to solve it. C&S Corvettes, "Locked Out" Dated Decembern2021.
Hey just to let ya know the screws you or whoever ran through your door panels were unnecessary. There is a video on UA-cam under LawDog Corvette that shows the exact way to attach your door panels at the bottom with the offset brackets you show but only 2 screws on the top front and back so that you don’t do them like you or whoever did them by sinking in the panel and distorting the shape. Just wanted your audience to know that … great videos though ❤
My panels are aftermarket with ABS forms, so sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to make them fit properly. But since mine is not an originality contender, I am happy they fit as well as they do. Even with a few “wrong” screws here and there. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻

Many similarities between C2s and C3s. Thank you for watching! 😊👍🏻
I have a question about reinstalling the lock knobs. Could you just put the clip in and press it in place? Or do you need the special tool again?
You do not need the tool. As you mentioned, replace the clip and press it in place. 😊👍🏻

I used whatever rubber lines I had handy that fit over the rods I wanted to insulate.

You can, but that would make reinstalling the inside door handle a bear.
