I love the idea of totemic objects, I do have a tribe in desperate need of a totem for their rituals, so I'll apply what I learned today plus what I've read
Two religions in my world have totemism seen as important The Polytheistic religion Intara, they have an Incense Lamp with the Surname etched upon it for the guidance of the gods their family worship the most. The incense lamp has the most worshipped god's favourite incense(Like Sunflower for the Sun god and Water Lily for the Water God) as to keep their guidance. Idols are secondary, the Lamp is the more important part of their home's religious section The Monotheistic religion Kundara, They say that the Kundar (their version of the cross) as a way to keep God's Light in your home. For them, A home is incompelete without it.
@@subhamraj5365 Generally speaking I like incense. It represents a fairly costly item that can be made as far back as the bronze age, it gives you some smells to work with which increases your sensory details in writing and it definitely fits with a religious vibe. I like that your gods have favored incense, it could make for an interesting offering at a temple (an offering because you buy the incense, hench it's a monetary sacrifice to burn it for the god).
I liked very much this video. It is one I was expecting, since I'm quite interested in the subject. I have a question though, how can I difference totem from talisman, since they act very similar? Where they separate from each other? Hope you can answer my doubt
Thanks! So a totem has specifically got a spirit or spirits that are linked to it. A talisman is magic, it doesn’t need a spirit and it almost always confers some kind of ability or attribute. It could bring the wearer luck for example. A totem provides the link to the spiritual. Hope that makes sense?
Wow, that’s a great question. I would say if it’s your link, then absolutely. Especially if it’s that specific radio rather than all radios in general. If it was all radios in general I’d be more inclined to classify it under normal magical item.
Have you ever used totemic objects in fantasy? Which author that you've read used totems and what did you think of it?

That’s very nice lore. I like combination of Gods and Totems, it’s kind of messy like the real world :)
@@JustInTimeWorlds what do you think of the incense part

@@JustInTimeWorlds thank you very much! It does makes a lot of sense. I'm clear now, thanks
is a radio a 'totemic-object' if a ghost uses it to talk to you?
