- Since it was St. Paddy's day just a couple days ago, we figured we'd do an Irish song this Sunday. We're in a hotel on our way to a gig in Chicago (see you Chicagoans at Uncommon Ground tonight, 3/19!) so we're a little crammed in there, but we made it work!
Thanks to our Cidizens on Patreon who made this video possible! If you're enjoying our Sunday Morning videos, consider becoming a Cidizen on our Patreon page in exchange for extra goodies and our eternal gratitude: / reinadelcid

Irish Rover lyrics
In the year of our Lord, eighteen hundred and six
We set sail from the sweet cove of Cork
We were sailin' away with a cargo of bricks
For the grand city hall of New York
Twas an elegant craft, she was rigged fore-and-aft
And oh, how the wild winds drove her
She had twenty-seven masts and withstood several blasts
And we called her the Irish Rover
There was Barney McGee from the banks of the Lee
There was Hogan from County Tyrone
There was Charlie McGurk who was scared stiff of work
And a chap from Westmeath called Malone
There was Slugger O'Toole who was drunk as a rule
And fighting Bill Tracy from Dover
And your man, Mick McCann from the banks of the Bann
Was skipper of the Irish Rover
We had one million bags of the best Sligo rags
We had two million barrels of bones
We had three million sides of old blind horses hides
We had four million barrels of stones
We had five million hogs, we had six million dogs
And seven million barrels of porter
We had eight million bales of old nanny goats' tails
In the hold of the Irish Rover
We had sailed seven years when the measles broke out
And the ship lost her way in a fog
And that whale of the crew was reduced down to two
Just me-self and the captain's old dog
Then the ship struck a rock, lord what a shock
The boat it turned right over
She turned nine times around, and the poor old dog was drowned
I'm the last of the Irish Rover
PERFECT!!! And I still like the HAT!!!
👏👍
love it
Cork my hometown
Greetings from Ireland, a great version of an old favourite, here we are in 2020 and Paddy's day cancelled. Keep up the good work, I'm loving it 🎸🎶💕
On this entire platform (youtube) this is by far the best rendition of this (British)song.
Listen to the Pogues!
@@monickam17
I did.
To me, it's too messy.
Brilliant .
Great!
Wow, & I don't say that lightly, beautiful rendition.
Love these two girls! And this song!
You know, whether there are 2, 3, 4, 5 or 100 of you, the musicians are ALWAYS amazing. Thanks for the tune. Nice hat Reina.
Such a great performance. You know, I do believe Reina was the last survivor of that terrible shipwreck - it's the way she tells it, begob!

Thank you.Greatings from Poland !
Everyone was wonderful as usual but I especially enjoyed the drummer. He added so much by playing so little. A real master of percussion.
Reina you and Toni are amazing when are you coming to Glasgow Scotland I would love to see you live 🍀🍀🍀
They where in Glasgow last year in the summer, can't remember the name of the place but they where great 👍🍀🇮🇪🍀

Exuberance wins!!! Happy to see happy people making happy music... you look like a tight knit group! Excellent!!!
Super! The Bushmills is flowing....
everythig is perfect ... and I'm realy fan of Tony
The old Irish Rover must have been one huge ship. I mean nine million bales of old nanny-goats' tails ??
Yes, they were tall tails
what a beautiful band, I love you all, you bring peace and love to our hearts and souls., I love this music all
Can't believe I missed this one. Reina, Toni and crew NEVER disappoint. Sweet guitar and dobro.
How the bass player looks exactly like Josh
Love your music and your vibe. Keep it up.
So much love in that cramped little motel room. Thank you all for the performance. The guitar and the dobro were especially brilliant. However, Young Ms. Del Cid, you really brought that song home during the low vocals. That was absolutely more fun than some people would allow in a motel room! Saving this to my favorites for St. Patty's Day.
Neat hat, and song.
Happy Sunday Morning...
One of my all time favorites! Great music!
Świetne wykonanie.
I can't believe I actually found another hidden gem. Today will be a really great day!
Harmonizing is perfect!
Great work..great and a nice voice of you ............ LIKE.....
That was fantastic! I'd love to hear more Irish music from you.
The girl in the hat is so fun, engaging and charming, she just takes over the show. She is great -- her partner on guitar too. Very nice.
Go listen to all their songs...I just love them! Been listening since the second half of 2020. ❤️
That's Reina!
@@ediejohnson3301 Forgot her name for a moment. She has star power - could be great at acting I think, charismatic, maybe a musical. Great talent!
Greatings from Denmark, love folk and this version is so cool!
you are so fresh as a flower, and sing like a Bird, your soul Is so beauty that you fill mine of happynes
Highly authentic and very tasteful playing (esp. snare and slide...). I love it, thanks!
Super as always! And Toni's harmony was just awsome!!! Slapping the base, a dobro, and cool drums made it perfect. keep them coming.
Happy St Patrick's day! Fun song!

Dupla Reina Del Cid acabei de conhecer mas já me conquistou principalmente pelo vídeo da linha do trem, parabéns preciosidade para mim, cada um ver como quiser.
Super version🙌
Oh man, what a wonderful music. I love these two girls, Reina and the other girl performing so tricky solos (by the way, I´m 78 !! )
Toni. I know you mean no disrespect. She's incredible.
@@mitc0185 disrespect? I admire both of them, and now I also know her name. TONI !!
@@TheErdferkel check out "Church Street Blues"
@@mitc0185 Thank you for the tip
I love you Reina!
Nice hat.
I love you guys bigtime💚
Brilliant!!
We have a chorus for this song it goes " And fare thee well my pretty little girll ; I must sail away x 2 ok?
It is way beyond me how Reina can remember the lyrics to so many songs.....I'd think (wrongly it seems) that most of her brain neurons would have been filled up by now. I'm guessing I think that way thru personal experience.....
long-term memory is nearly unlimited, as long as you recall the information periodically you would theoretically remember it forever
Awesome singing and playing ladies and gents! But what the heck is up with UA-cam???!!! y'all got over 40,000 views and only 572 likes???!!! If it ain't UA-cam messing things up then there's a lot of people out there who don't know or appreciate what real talent is.
mega good !!!
Ótima banda, o entrosamento das meninas é excelente, as músicas e letras são de primeira. Dá pra ouvir o dia inteiro sem cansar.
As always St. Pats is me holiday. Great traditional song. You all did great but no green.
The dobro really does add to it Hup
McGurk here. Love it!
My favorite March 17th song of ALL TIME! Thanks Cidizens for doing it! lol
With a band, you’re one degree better than with duo :) Try putting a piece of cloth on the snare drum :) The usual quality improvisations were missing for me...
"Sugar Shane" on the Dobro!
Ryan Kimm h
Good job, gang!
Rehvakas biisi!
such a fun song! cept for that last verse :/
great tune, well done - I'd have increased the volume on your voice just a wee bit
