Thanks for the D5 review. I think for my use case a combination of Enscape and D5 will get me everything I need. Great cost/time to performance ratio on both.
@@ShowItBetter I would create all models and base materials in Chief Architect > export Collada to Sketchup with baked in non PBR materials > produce quick turnaround clay and basic renders and panoramas in Enscape with little to no material adjustment for immediate client review > after revisions bring final model into D5 for final PBR materials, furniture and landscape staging and final renders and video.

Hi now if you want pro you need to pay for it. I love the software as an interior designer is very fast for a quick presentation, just pay for the whole year, will be saving time and time is money. Thanks for your videos
The architecture firm I'm working for is still on lumion 8.5. I wanted to ask for an update to lumion 12, but now I'm in doubt. Since I'm pretty much the only one doing all the renders in the office, it might be a good idea to test out D5 first before letting them purchase lumion 12. What software do you think has the upper hand right now? Even if you completely ignore the price difference, since I'm not the one paying for it anyways..
i wouldnt use lumion if you payed me too. its UI is the worst the renders are not exceptional , when the likes of D5 / Unreal Engine / VRAY and even twin motion with the new path tracer is exceptional its free you have to try these before you go in on Lumion.
Lumion is very stable, and has a collection of tools that are easy to use. It's also better at "moods" and slightly better at outdoor renders. There is little need to upgrade from 8.5 result wise. I would recommend a slow shift to D5. Subscribe for a few months and try it out. I would guess D5 would reach maturity within a couple of years at the fast pace they are updating their software.
@@rhov233 I disagree completely, Real Skies are first worthwhile Lumion upgrade, sky light effect also, and both were introduced in L9 (or even 10). The bottleneck here would be hardware used to run it. Both Lumion and D5 are GPU hogs.
No ways can it take over right now. Unless everyone magically gets RTX cards then yes. The program is limited to people who have the required specs, lumion / escape / twinmotion anyone can run with a half decent machine. When GPU's become more readily available, then yes I do see d5 taking over. Their pricing is extremely competitive and thier exterior rendering capability will become a heck of a lot better by that time.
Looks great! When I apply grass material, it doesnt go to the edge like yours. There seems to be an offset on all sides where it is just 2D texture image of grass. What am I doing wrong?

I tried twinmotion and lumion. I'm currently using lumion due to the large asset library. I was tempted to go back to twin motion as it have path tracing, but now I'm leaning towards this software. Only thing that's holding me up is that its not compatible with 3ds max 22 as yet.
Nice Video, have been waiting for it since the D5 2.0 update :) ! But does anyone else have the same issue with the scenes that i have ? I can save different camera positions with the scenes, but the environment settings wont be saved. So for example if i change back from a night to a day scene, it switches to my saved view point but with the same environment settings like in the scene used before. Would be glad if someone has an idea for my Problem :)
Bth D5 Render and TwinMotion 2022 (with raytracing) render SLOWER on my GTX 1060 than Thea Render, which is 100% raytracing. Really... if you don´t have a RTX, choose Thea, or VRAY, whatever. Better final quality and FASTER (which is hard to imagine since in theory D5 and TM are supposed to be real time...)
I woud prefer D5 to lumion any day. But its not enough to make me leave corona render engine. D5s free asset library is limited and you can only do a video render when you buy the pro version. Lumion wins here. All the same, its still my option for video renders which would have taken forever to render in Vray or Corona render engine (3Ds Max).
There's a lot more to this than rendering, while I love Blender it's cumbersome to setup a scene with lights, atmospherics, assets etc. Here it looks like you can just adjust sliders and get a decent result very quick
