- On Saturday January 19, 2025, a lady sang musica criolla from the balcony of the Municipal Palace of Miraflores. She finally sang a Mainera, this is a traditional style of music from the North of Peru. A young lady from the crowd spontaneously began to dance La Marinera and a young man from the other side of the audience joined her. This is their spontaneous Marinera dance together.
Note: the young man kicks off his shoes, they both receive white handkerchiefs from a gentleman in the crowd and then the young lady removes her shoes in order to zapatear better. El zapateo is usually done barefoot and it is the striking and rhythmic stamping of the feet into the ground.
A beautiful example of why I love Miraflores and Lima and Peru! ❤️ 🤍 ❤️
