    Im in my 50’s and have learned that my family is my wealth. Yes I have plenty of money but its the relationships I have with my son and grandsons that bring me true joy in life. I’ve been all over the world and my greatest joy is always coming home to my family. Given the choice of attending some super upscale event like an opera or whatever or an evening at home having dinner with my family it’s a no brainier for me lol
    When I gave my 5 year old grandson a bicycle for Christmas one year the look on his face and complete astonishment that it was for him is a memory I will hold close to my heart forever. Ask me where I went on vacation 3 years ago and I don’t remember lol. So remember this: family, friends, home and community are what’s important, having money does make life a bit easier and less stressful but its not the be all end all of our existence. 100 years from now my bank won’t remember me but my family will.

      My sentiments exactly. No point to have money and not spreading some joy with it. I asked my Grandson whether or not he wanted the mattels Tractor and trailor that he could play with on his playroom floor or if he wanted the sit on batterry driven life size version of the same, he looked at me as if I was weird and said " Grandpops that won`t fit in my garage and its too big to push around the floor! He always chooses the small toys never the larger more lavish ones. Kids and family is the real life not things.

      Beautifully said. I’m in my late 20’s, I’m chasing wealth because I’d like for my family to be financially secured and would like to be able to dictate my time. However, you are so right, happiness is found in human connections and helping others.

    I'm one of the lucky ones, I have learned a very important lesson in my 57 years. You can have everything that money can buy. But if you don't have someone who truly loves you, and wants to spend time with you. It's just glittery, empty toys, and your home is cold and lonely!

    • @angelicatorres2117

      I agree. I'm 50, divorced, my girls are 19 and 21 and one is gone the other about to leave. Have a beautiful 4 bedroom house with a huge backyard and a great big tree out front. I ❤ my house, but its going to get so lonely around here soon...

    • @timward3116
      @timward3116 3 роки тому +11

      I agree completely. I wouldn't trade my close relationships with the people dearest to me for a billion dollars. I really wouldn't. And I would be embarrassed to display such wealth in a country (the U.S.) where millions of people are literally paid slave wages, 30 million people have no health insurance and can't afford basic health care, and education is disintegrating. Having things never gives a person class, and depending on how one gets wealth, having things can be evidence of no class. There is much more honor and dignity in being an honest, decent, low-paid service worker than in being a billionaire sociopath addicted to money. And when this life ends, love survives but things disappear.

    I grew up in a large estate home as a kid and young adult. Very rich miserable parents. They had everything and hated each other and we knew it. Keeping the home clean was torture. My parents stoppped the housekeeper once I became a teenager. I became the housekeeper. My brother was the pool boy. We had white carpet throughout one wing of the house which was a high traffic area. I felt like Cinderella cleaning it all the time. Granted being the housekeeper built character and instilled a great work ethic in me. I never took my good life for granted.
    They gave us daughters great education but did not teach us financial literacy. Only my brother got that privilege as he was set to inherit it all. Unfortunately when my father retired and handed the family business to my brother it was wreck. Back taxes, shady business deals, you name it. The skeletons came out of the closet on my father's "successful" life and my brother is in debt to his eyeballs as a result. Now father lives alone in that estate his wife divorced him after 40 yrs marriag. No one wants anything to do with him. Such is life. I hope it was worth it to him.

      Remember that there are multiple Billionaires that have given Billions of dollars to charaties, yet nothing changes. As someone who started with nothing here in the states when I was 7 years old back in 2004, my family had nothing. We literally rented a room for my mom, dad, brother who was 1 and I. We had barely anything, my clothes were all donations, dumpster finds, and yard sale clothing. There were times when we didnt have food on the table, I remember sometimes 1 bowl of cereal was the only meal I my brother and i had. We asked the government for help but they refused to give us anything, I started working when I was 11 in order to help my parents make ends meet. But that gave me a different perspective on life especially now that I look at my cousins and their families they all conform with what they have, but for us when I was young, my parents taught me to strive for something more than simply what we had. Which is probably why I think that just giving people what they need is not enough, they will simply conform and will see it as "well the government pays for my house, food, etc, why do I need to put in an effort to better myself." Sure the government could give a them a hand but demand they better themselves and not simply expect them to always give them everything. But that is just me, especially with what I went through my family fought and clawed ourselves into where we are, we aren't wealthy people but have enough to pay our bills, food and a nice cars. But it's not enough to put out that fire in me for more success and I don't see wealthy people as evil people, because there are many who went from rags to riches. I see them as an inspiration and I think it's easier to give people a small boost but require them to work for themselves to get to where they want and if they dont, well there's no point in pushing them if they're unwilling to do the work.

    • @shadowspire
      @shadowspire 5 років тому +2

      @Charles Lee Ray no it happened to us, mainly because my parents couldnt get all the paperwork needed (cali) you literally need to jump through so many hoops. And as for my father's income at the time was under 25k before taxes, my mom couldn't work. It's also pretty difficultwhen you live in the middle of nowhere and even more so when family turns their back on you. The only reason we got a foot hold and were able to climb out was because our former landlord was a real estate agent and gave my father work, I would go with him sat, and Sundays and breaks to help him doing what I could, she also allowed us to rent one her properties. That allowed my dad to work his way up in her company and earned about 45k before taxes. Even 3 years ago when my dad passed away we got a 180k bill for a 3 week stay at the hospital, and when we asked for medical we were denied 2 applications because we couldnt provide proof that we no longer owned a car from 8years prior. Then they said we had to wait another couple of weeks to talk to someone in person. We contacted them multiple times until we were finally able to explain them the situation. Honestly that's how things have happened I'm grateful to my former landlord because once I turned 18 she gave me a decent paying position as a landscaper and through that I was able to work my way up. I'm 21 now and am working my a** off to get a GC license because I and now the head of my family and i do not want my youngest brother to struggle, and that's what I've told him and the middle one. The middle one is now learning a trade and we hope to keep working to get better. Whether you or anyone else believes me or not makes no difference to me but that's why i dont really believe in just giving people something and them not working to get better but to each their own.

Thus, I figure most will be recycled/replaced/continually 'renovated' over time - a pointless exercise, at enormous expense, no less.

    • @hahajahjah
      @hahajahjah 6 років тому +21

      You have been sold the myth of the Medici. The truth is -
      The only reason the Medici put any money into art was because they were so guilt ridden (as Catholics) about their family business as usuries (basically loan sharks), which the bible describes as possibly the most despicable occupation of all or any. It wasn't public art either. It was mostly commissioned portraiture and allegorical art (laced with their own family members as the actors) to adorn their private properties and often private chapels where no one uninvited could see the works.
      The Medici were despicable Machiavellian overlords who were, historically speaking, some of the most self-indulgent folks that ever lived.
      "if you want to know what God thinks of money (lenders)..." observe what the Medici did to try to gain absolution. They only cared about themselves. They were accidental patrons of the arts.
      Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

    Very interesting reading this toxic comments section.Pathetic how many people rush to judge" the billionaires"based on a few incidents in one city, but have never even met a billionaire.My perspective is somewhat less jaded as I am friends with a couple of billionaires as well as a handful of multi-millionaires. Most are loving fathers and husbands, HUGE contributors to charities, and generally highly educated and very likable people.Very unlike the super-rich described in this video.I am quite sure these "financial aristocrats" do exist but that doesn't exemplify the lifestyle of all of the ultra-wealthy.My hometown(Houston,Texas) was devastated by a hurricane in 2017 and we worked along side some of the wealthiest people in Houston loading trucks and handing out food and supplies,and yes,the rich people were doing the manual labor with us as well as providing much of the food, supplies and money that we distributed. Several of my ultra-wealthy friends volunteer at inner city homeless shelters (which they also bankroll) and are on a first name basis with many of the clients.Before passing judgement on a complete class of people, please be honest with yourself about what YOU do tho help those less fortunate.If you have a computer to read this on and electricity to run it then I can guarantee you there as some in your city with much less than you have.That being said, please note that I am not a multi-millionaire or even close to it...

      Randy Husband don't delude yourself. There is not one billionaire on this earth who has made his money the honest, hard working way. They got wealthy by screwing other people over. Their life style is unconscionable and immoral because it flies in the face of global suffering of the 99%.

Probably never even met one.Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of pieces of crap ultra-rich that live like the ones in this video but there are others who have worked hard all their lives to build a fortune and now spend vast sums of it to help others.As long as YOU are doing your part to help the less fortunate then you can criticize the rick all you want, but most are quick to point the finger at the the rick while they do little or nothing themselves.I do not know you or your heart so I will not speculate.Only You know if you are helping others,as I truly hope you are.There is light and darkness in ALL classes of people.

    Fresh flowers is an Elton John “thing” which is why he was put on a budget of $10 million per month about a decade ago in order to curb overspending... on fresh flowers for all of his estates and homes! Sir Elton’s net worth in 2019 is valued at US$450 Million which is a laff because, all things considered, apart from his pop music catalogue with Bernie Taupin (lyricist), Elton has other productions in collaboration with Tim Rice such as The Lion King franchise (film/theater), AIDA and Billy Elliot, in addition to revenues from his residency in Las Vegas which recently ended. Currently, Elton is on a Farewell Tour, one would suppose, because he has vowed never to perform in large arena venues again after age 72 haha (Elton just turned 72 on 25 March 2019)... “so goodbye, Yellow Brick Road...”

    If these wealthy people who love to show off so much, really knew how other people don't give a shit about their super-homes and cars and toys - they'd probably be very disappointed. I can't think of anything lonelier than rattling around by myself in a 30,000 sq. ft. "home". The amount of greed and self-love that is needed to maintain that image is very unappealing to be around. I am much more impressed by someone living in a one-room 500 sq. ft. apartment and donating their money to charities. There is only so much money one person can spend on themselves, and they certainly can't take it with them.

      They're causing it along with the banking sectors of the world.
      We now know what the experiment (low interest) does. It makes boom bust bubbles more bubbly and more destructive. And shifts much of any money into real-estate creating a new feudalism of empty palaces and farm and commercial estates. Pushing all prices rents and housing prices are ruinously high that many families literally must room together and often go homeless for a period of time, perhaps in a shelter or in their cars or a tent in some park.

      @@ronblack2700 I don't honestly think anyone says they want to be poor. But I DO think many aren't willing to do what it takes to move up. Some people inherit wealth, others are self made. Some of the self made folks just get lucky, but luck alone won't let you hang onto what you have. That takes some brains. One of the smartest things CEO's do is to surround themselves with smart people. People who are well versed in different areas. Those people lay out all the facts and the CEO LISTENS......then makes a decision.
      I think what many here in the comments section are really talking about is "how much is enough"??? As some have said and they even talked about in the video, these houses increase in value rapidly. If there were stocks that went up that fast it would be difficult to buy them. Even the rich "flip" houses...but on a grander scale and they have more means to increase the value to cover the costs with a nice profit too.

      Well I don't believe in luck, I believe it is a blessing from the Lord who gives the wealth from hard work.
      Although all is entitled to an opinion, why criticize someone who works hard to invest as such to be in a place where all they have to do is maintain the investment to live a certain lifestyle?
      Plus you have to always invest into to keep the money coming in.
      As far as someone being poor? Some make alot of excuses as to why they cannot move up to the next level, while some simply don't try. That's just like some people people who live in public housing will never buy a home to increase their self worth but will buy an expensive car, or even have a boat in their driveway, but in the same breath will complain about being poor.
      While others stay on welfare and foodstamps all of their lives.
