It’s a modern myth that Paris is still the fashion capital: it might be 100 years ago, it certainly isn’t now if you travelled there or lived there enough to see how the city really is.
I came back from Paris last week. Two weeks holiday there and I noticed there are many fashionable people, not only ladies, men also. People try to look stylish, rich or poor, they have their fashion taste of style.

About 2 months ago I went to Paris, we actually landed in an amazing building all blue inside and had all the top designer brands, fabulous items probably no more pricey then in Australia. Goes to show you that you dont have to be❤ all beauties for the private viewings, we all love gorgeous clothes, jewellery etc but we all seem to think only the striking people wear it when gosh the most ordinary ones are the big buyers 😅
I would hope that the U.S. Ambassador & her key American staff would highlight the excessive stress & extraordinarily LONG HOURS the Head Butler & their staff are REQUIRED to work for their Events! Yes, these Events are important, but everyone there should also understand that the ordinary people, here in the U.S. & in France, also want & need their time off to rest, sleep, & spent time with their families/friends & do the things they enjoy doing with their free time! I don’t think it’s their passion to be overworked & sleep deprived on a regular basis!!!! They are been taken advantage of - and just because the Ambassador says she appreciates the staff, that doesn’t mean their Labor Laws should be ignored!!!
You completely overlooked the fact that our U.S. tax dollars are funding their war and paying the salaries of tens of thousands (if not hundreds of thousands) of their workers, along with paying to keep shop owner’s shops open so they can make money. WE are supporting this while this woman is off shopping and paying over $31k for 3 dresses. We barely make enough money to get by yet we’re funding this and other wars. It’s the oligarchs that are getting richer off of us. Who knows where our money is really going and to whom. This is disgusting.
The foolish youth....thinking that any of those things have any real significance in life. With age, one learns what is truly important and what is to be treasured.
As an American and visiting France many times these negative comments are true of any major city. Having said this I’ve never experienced this in France
For a restaurateur who is 7MM Euros in debt, the Divellec owner has to get his act together: deciding on table settings the day before opening his new restaurant is laughable. He shows up a day before the opening and behaves like an angry teenager, complaining about things that "should have been done four months ago." So where was he four months ago? Laissez-faire project management landed the restaurant in a real mess. On opening night, we find out that he didn't even have a training & test run with the kitchen staff - which leads some of his guest to say they think the restaurant is "still getting the hang of it." In terms of attitude, this is not Michelin star territory, so he should count himself as fortunate to have gotten the one star which Divellec was awarded.
OMG this is so retro, it was retro even back then. I feel like they have to lower the price, and start a new cycle with new customers. We already know what is good, for example the Michelline stars, or brand names, to a customer that knows the chefs personally, or the jewelers personally, it truly means nothing. Maybe if you are impressing business partners, but otherwise it really doesn't mean anything.
The best things in life are free and simplistic nourishes the soul, trust me it’s absolutely true, another thing that’s absolutely true is we can’t take it with us,eternity is a very long time compared to our short time here on earth,I’m more concerned where I’ll be going for eternity

But then you have to imagine how many people would be out of work if rich people didn't buy. Remember, in France alone, luxury is a $50 billion business. Directly and indirectly, it creates 300,000 jobs! And that doesn't even include the revenue from tourism.
@@lilylittlemonster5 Let's not be too quick to bash rich people. Although low to middle income class are the biggest consumers, the rich are the biggest producers of goods and jobs, as well as services. Let's take Bernard Arnold as one example. Now the richest man in the world, his contributions to the French economy are very significant. In France, one job created directly by LVMH generates four for the French economy1. This is equivalent to around 160,000 people working indirectly for the Group1. THAT is significant! Infrastructure: LVMH has more than 500 stores and 110 manufacturing facilities and workshops located across France1. The group opens several manufacturing facilities each year in France, notably for Louis Vuitton. Arnold, along with Bettencourt (richest woman in the world) promote France around the world as being leaders of fashion and luxury goods that one cannot put a price on, as it brings back tens of billions or euros back into the economy. Just imagine this.... what if all the billionaires of France moved out of the country and relocated their headquarters outside of France. How would that make your standard of living better? It would be a disaster for the country with higher unemployment, loss of CAC40 value, higher inflation, and a dramatic increase in poverty. Start looking at things positively -- it's what Americans do and they're very successful. Look at the glass half full and be thankful the French economy produces some of the richest people in the world... because THEY create jobs.
i think that "cape" was absolutely beautiful, but should have been worn by a woman with olive or dark skin. I also think that the outfits worn by the models did their best to destroy the grandeur of the jewelry, rather than enhance it.
The sales volume you are quoting are the entire company sales, which are generated throughout the world and not just France. None the less, I think the 40Billion euros is a bit low in France. And the video is probably pre-Ukranian war; otherwise, why would that mother and daughter fly back to Kyiev.
I love luxuries. And luxury lies not in richness and ornateness but in the absence of vulgarity. Vulgarity is the ugliest word in our language. I stay in the game to fight it. ~Coco Chanel 🎀
L' ambroise, my Swiss and American friends and me dined there and found it nothing special. Waste of money and poor cuisine for a 3 star Michelin restaurant.
Great documentary. The bill coming on a silver platter is absolutely ridiculous. How does one take themself so seriously? I would not be able to keep a straight face
To put a live animal into a pot of boiling water, without humanely killing it prior (if there's such a thing) can be no more than inconsiderate self righteous and cruel (has this chef is seen here doing here). And before all those likewise beings as the chef get on a defensive 'rant'. Ask yourself - if you would be prepared to be dropped into a boiling vessel of water still alive. No I thought not. Has for telling the world what jewellery you own and where you are going to be and at what time etc, is that 'stupidity'...or just shear vulgarity in flaunting your richness....probably the both! There is a wide divide between 'Rich' and 'The Wealthy'. And those 'wealthy and clever' enough unlike most, chose to keep a very low profile. An example of this would be someone like Amancio Ortega, net worth - 99.5 'Billion', and in his 87 years very rarely photographed and never does interviews or talks to the media. Now that is humble, intelligence...and 'real wealth'. Unlike many, he knows when someone is blowing Hot Air up his Arse!
I guess that documentary was made when Natalia still had a proper country to go back to. Well, money definitely doesn’t buy you happiness but I’m sure, with the amount of money she obviously had, she can choose where to live. I suppose her plastic surgery empire in Ukraine isn’t doing so well these days, though. I wonder if she’s offering her services to disfigured soldiers for free now, although I doubt it.
You should be a fly in a typical restaurant kitchen anywhere in the world and see what goes on in them..... hands on food are the least of your worries LOL!
@@dominiqueroche4231 I know what goes on in restaurants, I still think it's wrong for a chef to handle soft food when plating. A piece of bread ok, but to mix my salad with bare hands when so many gloves are cheap I disapproved. I do not have to worry, because I have not eaten out in over 20 years. When I use to it was always a pizza, because I knew the oven would kill any germs, and it would not be handled by any one after.
Does more than money define you as “Elite” according to the world’s standard? I’m a little shocked by the woman from Ukraine, seeing how she’s not well known, throughout the globe.
The restaurant section of this vlog was very intresting, although the video was from 2016. The rich Russians have appeared to nowhere, they are now still everywhere, in spite of war, sanctions etc. In Paris, Caribian, Asia, Dubai. They have bought their freedom in good time and moved their money to Switzerland and off shore destinations and live like everything is like before. Uff. Groce. Money talks and bullshit walks. Service providers for rich ppl do not mind the origin of money, never done so. Just the casflow counts.
How right you are! As we say in French: L'argent n'a pas d'odeur. Money has no smell! When it comes to money, decency, ethics, integrity and morality flies away. We are now in 2024 and the world is going very, very badly but the rich, or should we say nouveau riche, continue to lead their lives as if nothing was happening.

These are all NOUVEAU RICHE, they don’t come from wealth. People of old money are much more conservative in appearance they don’t flaunt it, most of them who are true to heritage have impeccable taste. But I hope you’re all aware that commercial luxury brands are actually sustained by the upper middle class, and not the 1%. These big house haute couture brands that present these over the top fashion shows only have a small select amount of customers who buy. The shows are just marketing for them, they actually rely on us middle class people to dream and strive to want to be apart of this fantasy world they are presenting. So we’ll buy their perfume, cosmetics, accessories, or save up for their ready-to-wear and treat ourselves to the odd bag and pair of shoes.. These items that we upper middle class individuals buy are what sustain these high end luxury fashion brands.
Here’s this rich Ukrainian buying over $31,000 for 3 dresses while my tax dollars are going to Ukraine to pay for their war, and to pay the salaries of so many of their workers. Oh, and to help shop owners stay open and in business. What the hell is wrong with that picture? We are being robbed blind by the Ukrainians. Thanks a lot!
1.The video is from 2017, 5 yrs before ruzzian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. 2. This is not Ukraine's war, but could very easily become everyone's war is ruzzia is not stopped. 3. How absolutely stupid of the jewelry security personnel to speak about and demonstrate their security tactics and techniques 🙄 for TV or social media. Now the criminals know too. Bravo. No chef should be inspecting his new kitchen for the first time the night before the opening of his restaurant. Wow Paris has changed a lot since this 2017 film. I like the documentary and I was impressed with the female valet but unimpressed when not even once she said 'thank you' for the tips or the compliments. This is the basics of common sense and education. We teach small children to use magic words to educate them and equip them with tools to develop social skills and survive in life. I wonder whether this is common in France and whether it is a cultural thing. I remember a very well travelled man who shared with me that some people don't like to use the magic words, such as the Spanish people. Now I can see it with the French too. Saying a simple 'thank you' sometimes makes a huge difference and it is a sign of having customer service skills.

This sort of luxury is very un-chique, to borrow a french term. Only the new rich from oil states in middle east and Russia really keep parisian elite designer brands going. IMHO, the lesson learned by those whove grown up with wealth, and whose parents grew up with security (eg, from the nordics, japan, parts of the US and western Europe- or old money families) can appreciate the luxury and talent available locally in their own countries, and dont feel the need to show off by wasting money on this Parisian “luxury” on a regular basis. At least thats my view as someone with an unusual upbringing, growing up in Lithuania to parents from Finland and the USA. Im living in Finland now, and I feel secure that if my ADHD brain forgets my bag on a park bench- itll be there, or at the police w money in wallet, and im thoroughly enjoying myself discovering all the local high end boutiques which to me, r much cooler than these french ones- cuz theyre truly unique and v high quality designs made by my own countrymen with their own unique take on luxury- more modern, sleek design that can shine when worn out everyday, not a brand that marks u as a target cuz everyone knows them, who charge obscene prices (ehem- hermes) for stuff that can be bought much cheaper at the same exact quality when u seek out local designers.. Obv everyone likes special unique and exclusive things, but the clientele frequenting these Parisian places, as well as those who own them, are ppl who dont value luxury so much as the brand; both of the bag and of France itself (like that georgian lady who could only imagine her shop in Paris- and obv Parisians r invested in making these third world/post communist nouveau rich believe the hype); its sad how coming from an insecure society can destroy a nation’s confidence, like my ex homeland Lithuania, plagued by its history of insecurity and poverty- are obsessed with the shiny big logos of french n italian brands and dont really even try to foster local artists to create equally original and lux things, instead just buy into the french elites biases and lies of being THE home of ‘haute couture’ (even the words for it remain french); despite how everything these women bought to me seems tired, done, un-wearable closet filler, for them to show their guests on house tours - they base their self esteem on a foreign cultures product. Its a competition to see who can get the most hermes bags- in Vilnius’s few ‘exclusive’ designer boutiques, unless ur dressed head to toe in LV n Gucci, staff act astonishingly snobby and rude, giving total ignore often followed by frowning stares, til they get a phonecall and find out who just walked into their shop, as was my experience going shopping w my parents on my moms bday, we dress totally regular, esp my dad who likes comfy sweats despite being among the elite- hes an american at heart and doesnt give a crap n neither does my mom, we just wanted a nice bday gift. It’s revolting to me
You know you didn’t have to watch and girl if you knew how the so-called old money obtained their money and not felt revolted by that than you lost on humanity itself - take a breath and take a seat - no one is as important as you think they are including you. What a narc.

I can't wait to see part 2; the other side of Paris, the crime, drugs & poverty.
🛑🛑🛑 WHO CARES ? FULL BS 😂😂😂
@@JUSTIN-ry4dn Oh Justin, most women love beautiful things, just because not all can afford it doesn't mean we don't like it on others 😊
Well said
The foolish youth....thinking that any of those things have any real significance in life.

Imagine how many people could be feed with this money or housings. Just a thought
But then you have to imagine how many people would be out of work if rich people didn't buy. Remember, in France alone, luxury is a $50 billion business. Directly and indirectly, it creates 300,000 jobs! And that doesn't even include the revenue from tourism.
@@dominiqueroche4231 thank you for your answer. Didn't think about that. that's why I like to hear other peoples thoughts.
@@fredom1118 how about you sell your own possessions and give them to the poor
You are missing the point. These rich people enjoy holding their wealth over the heads of the poor. Thus they need the poor, poor.
15 minutes in and I’m over it.
"With a sale of €40 billion" How long was this? LVMH alone is at €80 billion and the next 3: Chanel, Hermes, and Kering is about €10-€20 billion each.
The sales volume you are quoting are the entire company sales, which are generated throughout the world and not just France. None the less, I think the 40Billion euros is a bit low in France. And the video is probably pre-Ukranian war; otherwise, why would that mother and daughter fly back to Kyiev.
Why are affluent Ukrainians engaging in shopping while the country is grappling with conflict and seeking financial assistance?...
Hate the fact that chefs are touching all over the food with their bare hands. I'll pass. Those dirty contaminated hands are too much for me.

Oh this is oooold.
Having class and etiquette that how
To put a live animal into a pot of boiling water, without humanely killing it prior (if there's such a thing) can be no more than inconsiderate self righteous and cruel (has this chef is seen here doing here).
Great documentary on luxurious living. Love it !
I find it difficult to have a chef touching my food with his hand. I think its very wrong

@helenwalker716 same as the Russians going there. Once again only the poor suffer.

3. Your tax dollars are not going to Natalia's or any other Ukrainian's pockets. 4. Natalia is in no way representative of an average Ukrainian citizen currently fighting for their lives, the future of their children and that of a civilized world. Thank you.

Now we know that our hard-earned US tax dollars are hard at work at the US embassy in France....lavish parties and with a butler, even...
Really? What about when George W. Bush won his second term in office, the republican party had their party convention in Los Vegas, and used government issued credit cards to buy steak, lobster, and shows? Plus, your tax dollars also provided access to strip clubs and prostitutes!

A few comments:
How odd that the French Ambassador did not speak a word of French.
I doubt Ukranian plastic surgeons are blowing €30.000 on 3 dresses these days or worried about Birkin bags, unless they live abroad
Why is chef talking over the food and sauce? This is why I don’t eat out.

When you have this bag you have power…OMG.
some new rich and middle class thinking. they feel powerful having a ridiculously expensive handbag. to what extent of power exactly???the real wealthy don't go queueing on the sidewalk, the item is personally sent to them.
I would never spend a dollar on those dresses.

It’s revolting to me
Blah blah blah. Tell it to your shrink. At least he gets paid to listen to ur dribble.... I lost interest at the midway point.
You know you didn’t have to watch and girl if you knew how the so-called old money obtained their money and not felt revolted by that than you lost on humanity itself - take a breath and take a seat - no one is as important as you think they are including you. What a narc.
