I’m gonna give an explanation as to why Jon will lose to Aspinal if they ever fight: 1. Size. Jon is notorious for struggling against fighters who somewhat match him in size and reach. This is shown in his razor close decisions against Reyes and Gustafsson. He even went to decision with Anthony smith! Almost everyone Jon beat in his early career, was significantly smaller in statue, but later on into his career when he came across opponents similar sized, he found more of a challenge. 2. Style. If you go and rewatch Jon’s fights, he generally has an issue with boxer heavy styles. Biggest examples are Reyes and Gustafsson. Reason for this is Jon doesn’t really box. He clearly favoures elbows, teal kicks, oblique kicks and body and head kicks. I’m serious! Watch his fights and you’ll see he rarely boxes. When dealing with someone like Tom, who btw actually has an ameteur boxing record, he will struggle. 3. Ground game. This part of the argument is a bit weak I’ll be honest. Tom has been trained by his dad from a very young age in BJJ. It was his first ever martial art. Jon will not be able to cope against attempting to wrestle someone of Tom’s size, age and speed. I just don’t see it 4. Speed. Watch Jon’s fight against Cyril Gane. Specifically, watch his speed. It’s evident that Jon’s move up to heavyweight has had a toll on his speed (though that could also be his age too). The fastest moment he had in the fight was his shot into the takedown. Granted, we didn’t see too much of him fighting because the fight was so fast, but even from the short timeframe we did see, he’s clearly got slower. Compare this to Tom’s speed, and see for yourself. Pair this with the boxing I previously mentioned, and you’ll see the issue I’m pointing out. 5. Age. Jon has stated he is coming towards the end of his career. Despite being 37 (same age as Alex Pereira who has had an extensive kickboxing career btw) he believes he only has a couple fights left. Tom Aspinal is 31. Not only is he younger, but he’s hungrier. Jon’s halfway out the door, Tom has only just got in. The one thing that primarily sets Jon apart is his fight IQ. It always has. And Jon is intelligent enough (in a fighting sense) to know that if he fights Aspinal, he will lose. That’s why he’s ducking him. Behind all the tweets, behind all the chatter, he is scared of tarnishing his perfect record.
I'm not so convinced it's as clear cut as that, fighting never is, but I still agree with you totally in a sense that Jon is definitely ducking Tom. This is why I believe he's gonna go full narcissist and retire the second his fight with Stipe is over, if that fight ever happens. Aspinall isn't afraid of Jones. Jones isn't afraid of Aspinall. Jones is afraid of tainting his perfect record. Aspinall wants the belt and glory, and he's willing to risk his legacy. If Aspinall loses to Jones, he will never go down as an all time great. It will always overshadow him. But if he beats Jones he'll go down as a great immediately.
Exactly how the world works. Nobody gives a crap if you beat an entire division or won every belt. They only care if you beat a certain somebody. But in the eyes of true mma fans like me “ it doesn’t work like that”
jon doesn't have a perfect record, he's not undefeated, he also has 2 failed drug test suspensions. Jon is trying to save whatever tainted legacy he's got left.
Sory but Cain never had that hand speed or ring iq just great wrestler with great cardio and solid boxing,Aspinal trained with Tyson Fury for years dude got elite hands and is faster then most MW
@@Bobbybouchet705 a fat out of shape Fury, that didn't take Francis "no head movement" Ngannou seriously, yes (he won regardless). Besides, the one time Tom lost, he was a beginner. @@leftnutlarry24 I could see him saying that, that will get in Tom’s head and then it would build more money and attention Jon making Tom feel like “eh, not impressed”
Bollocks, Aspinall trains for the full 9 yards even though he finishes all opponents within the 1st. The fact that he smashes everyone in the 1st means he’s the real deal. Scrappers that go the distance are mediocre, I notice that you don’t say the same about early Mike Tyson😅
No doubt Jon Jones was once the goat but that was then and this is now. I have no doubt that today, right now, Tom Aspinal would decisively and quickly defeat John Jones. No matter what Jon Jones says publicly, in private he actually is frightened to death of Tom Aspinal. His fear of Tom Aspinal isn’t only because he fears Tom Aspinall will severely brutalise and beat him up physically, and probably put him in the hospital, but because he will also ruin his still perfect undefeated career and he wants to retire undefeated. That is why I doubt you will ever see John Jones fight Tom Aspinal. It’s just too much of a risk for him to take that on.
The second guss fight jones tested positive for peds so the entire event had to get moved to a different state to get past the commission… “The real jones” indeed.
I don’t understand the argument that just because Tom finished his fights fast that he might gas out in later rounds. Tom doesn’t fight like the older generations of heavyweights who would charge in throwing bombs, he’s quick on his feet bouncing in and out and throwing the jab cross combo.
See^^ people have opinions kid lmao welcome to it man. I personally think Tom beats the brakes off Jon. I think Jon knows that, which is why Tom defended an interim belt and Jon is waiting for 42 year old stipe who hasn’t fought in 4 years and is coming off an L lmao

Jones Mind: “they forgot to mention my hiding unstoppable eye poking strategy. “ Tom Aspinal: “Jones has the most eye poking accuracy than anyone in UFC history!”
Why not just comment on reputation? Questioning whether Tom Aspinall can stay the distance against a man nearly ten years his senior is frankly ludicrous. If you've seen any of Aspinall's training camps, you would know that the man is a cardio-vascular monster. The reason he's never had to go beyond round two, is because he knocks people out, or gets submissions early. Who is going to take him further? Jones is terrified of tom. A tall striker scares him but he would grapple. But aspinall would be stronger and much heavier and a pedigree grappler. Tom won the BJJ British open at every belt other than black. Hes an elite grappler
gane was also red-hot... before he faced JJ... i do think JJ is a better all-round fighter than Tom... but if tom wants to win... he must do it in the first round
It’s laughable to me to think Jones wouldn’t get embarrassed. Ya it’s a fight, anything can happen, but Jones is clearly scared shitless of getting completely dismembered, and I’m guessing that happens within 3 mins. I’m no expert but I did numerous martial arts growing up and loved fighting, and from my perspective Tom has way more dangerous dimensionality. Ya jones has his approach and it’s effective but it’s sooo narrow and less threatening or devastating compared to Aspinall. His ability to instantaneously pivot between multiple devastating attack vectors is in a new evolutionary league imo.
Watch how everyone will switch up on Aspinall if he loses against Jon Jones. Aspinall doesn't have fans. He has Jon Jones haters who are rooting for him because they wanna see Jones lose. After Aspinall loses everyone will move on to the next fighter. I'm calling it right now.

It's the opposite. Casuals are judging this fight off of Jon's legacy instead of the actual matchup. Tom is his worst nightmare stylistically as well as being a much larger man naturally. EZ KO win in the first round for Tom.
I think Aspinall beats Jones I grew up watching Johnny bones but the more jones fought the more they study his moves and now no one can be in his prime for sooo long.. jones is getting old and aspinall is not yet in his peak he’s getting there.. the reason I say aspinall wins that fight is that he’s young, fast, bigger than jones and hungry to fight jones.. the more aspinall gets hit the more he fights hard go see his fights

Aspinall is simply not good enough. He would lose by submission against Jones.
@@Bobbybouchet705 a fat out of shape Fury, that didn't take Francis "no head movement" Ngannou seriously, yes (he won regardless). Besides, the one time Tom lost, he was a beginner. Jon taking aspinal very seriously. Jon’s looking at stipe like Tom looked at blaydes, just in the way of the real fight.
Jon is retiring after fighting stipe. He’s glad stipe is around because it gives him an excuse not to fight Tom
Exactly man. Jones fans are stupid to not see what’s happening here
The second guss fight jones tested positive for peds so the entire event had to get moved to a different state to get past the commission… “The real jones” indeed.
Jon is not even fighting Champion and joe says it would be interesting if they get into 2nd round.😅

He’s been past the first round with arlovski. He was absolutely fine.
I don’t understand the argument that just because Tom finished his fights fast that he might gas out in later rounds. Tom doesn’t fight like the older generations of heavyweights who would charge in throwing bombs, he’s quick on his feet bouncing in and out and throwing the jab cross combo.
Cuz aspinall will ko him on the 1st round baldy joe and belal 😅😅

Why not just comment on reputation? Questioning whether Tom Aspinall can stay the distance against a man nearly ten years his senior is frankly ludicrous. If you've seen any of Aspinall's training camps, you would know that the man is a cardio-vascular monster. The reason he's never had to go beyond round two, is because he knocks people out, or gets submissions early. Who is going to take him further?
