- After looking back through every single Star Wars wave from 1999 to 2024, it is very interesting to see the progression and evolution of LEGO Star Wars. But in my research, I realized something alarming that may surprise some people. For some, this may be a good change, and for others... well, let's just say, we'll have to keep our eyes open in the future.

In summary: it began with 1999 as good builds (for the time and the pieces available and good figs) and a lot of play features moving onward to the late 2000’s early 2010’s where we had great builds and great Minifigs maintaining the play features quality and quantity, then moving onto the mid to late 2010’s great builds, great figures but losing the quantity and quality of play features and then late 2010’s to early 2020’s downsizing in many aspects of build affecting quality and quantity of play features but an increase in minifigure selection.
I tend to agree with your synopsis, but many can't accept that Lego isn't about making what consumers desire in a set. It's simply about using the least amount of materials to make the largest profit while keeping consumers coming back for more.

My opinion is that as you grow your desire in lego changes.
With star wars lost its edge in 2015 or so, this means the people who will buy lego star wars are much older.. and 18 plus sets become more wanted

It's more to do with the average age of your lego starwars fan going up from kids to adults, hence the vast diversity in set design. I'm with you on the desire for more playscale sets but I've moved on to my first lego love, the old pirates theme and it's been epic fun collecting old sets fueled by nostalgia.
Interesting analysis, I’m a big fan of ships and vehicles and I’ve been extremely disappointed with the decrease of ship size and worst looking ships in general. Look at the new gunship it’s so small and you can’t even fit clones on the bubble turret spots
I got multiple dark trooper hallways because it was amazing as a piece pack. The backbone of my clone base.
I feel like for figures good but for size of sets it’s gone down in quality because the past waves the builds have been way scaled down , like I’m hearing the new Jabbas sail barge is gonna be crazy but who knows lol

And the guy who is relatively new to Lego, I am trying very hard to avoid minifig addiction. Luckily my main focus is Jurassic Park and DC, and there's not a lot of really rare hard to find ones in that set, especially if you're not hooked on getting every single Batman.

Remember there are as many adult collectors as kids and the adults aren’t going to play or swoosh the ships
the problem is that they have a limited amount of sets but unlimited amount of ideas to create .Most people dont like half of the ideas because they are from bad shows/movies

This was a very good video and enjoyed your take but also remember lego needs to be diverse and you can’t have just playable vehicles.There are many adult collectors and builders and I honestly like the way they mix it up my problem is the constant remakes and constant rehashing of mini figs.How many R2 or c3 po do we need.Case in point is the new upcoming sailbarge at 550.00 They are actually giving us 10 mini figs which would have been great but no new Jabbas henchman or goons also another max reebo but no sy snootles or droopy mccool to go with the band . We only have 1 of the 3 band members is ridiculous. Fine we need Jabba and bib fortuna and gammorean guard but how about 15 mini figs and give us new characters.Lego is being greedy and lazy lazy lazy.Look at the master builders cantina all the new characters . That set is amazing and then they screw us with what should be a great iconic set.
Also the key is lego is meant to be built more importantly
I want playesets that come with figs. I don't buy art sets, helmet sets, or even midi scale sets. Wish those spots where used for something that i would consider to be better. However it probably is better this way cause im not the only one buying Lego and besides, this gives me and my wallet a break
