It can do highway speeds with stock gearing but if you plan to change the gearing at all (Supermoto conversion or just more aggressive setup) just beware you might have to take the longer route.
It is definitely capable for a modern 250cc bike to run on motorway. But I would recon go for 600cc or above cuz I ride my CBF500 1 hr on motorway for commuting almost everyday. Really don't want the engine keeps the rev around 7-8000 RPM...

My highway commute isn't that long, so I will stick with stock gearing for now. I usually just ride on the slow lane anyway.

yea, it's a tall bike. I think you are fine on the highway. I two up with my wife on highway before, and it can do ~70mph just fine.
