One thing I love about Spiritbox is the use of or in this case not using harsh vocals. Some songs are exclusively harsh vocals and come songs are exclusively cleans. I really like that vocal styles are chosen to support the vibe or lyrics of the song rather than trying to force both styles into each song.
First, Courtney is, surprisingly enough, not trained. She seems to have just fallen into using certain techniques through trial and error. Second, most reactors miss it but a lot of this song, especially the pre-chorus (if that's what it is) and some of the chorus has the bass player Josh singing in the higher register while Courtney is in the lower. Third, what I find most surprising is that she rarely uses that very high register you hear toward the end of this song (I think the only other time she uses it is in the Mara Effect songs). I hope we hear more of that from her.
You absolutely need to visit BC. It’s one of my favorite places on earth…absolutely beautiful. Anyways, “velvety” is a good way of describing Courtney’s clean vocals. There’s something hypnotic about it that really pulls you in. The nice thing about them is they don’t really follow a particular “formula” from song to song…if a song calls for screaming she’ll scream, but there are plenty of songs with no screaming and plenty with no clean singing. You never know what you’re going to get lol. Also yes the bassist is Josh Gilbert. He used to be in a band called As I Lay Dying and did clean vocals for them. Really glad they’re utilizing him more, he’s an incredible singer as well.
I wouldn't want to suggest you turn your channel into the Spiritbox channel (or do too much of any other band) but there is a live version of Circle with Me out from a couple months ago that features Tatiana from Jinjer. It might be worth a watch if not a reaction. It's an amazing performance from both ladies. The video is live from the Louder Than Life Festival 2024. If after seeing that you are also interested in Jinjer. I would love to see a reaction/analysis of Tatiana's vocals as well. Their latest video is Green Serpent but they have well over 30 videos on UA-cam many of them very good. She has a one take vocal of their song Judgement and Punishment that is popular with vocal coach reactors.
josh gilbert le bassist ex membre de as i lay dying est probablement une des voix les plus connu du metalcore et oui ils viennent a montreal au mtelus le 21 avril

I'm so hyped for their new album. This song has had me in a vice grip since it dropped.

She also used it at the end of Jaded, but a couple of notes lower.
@@mylife1221 I don't count that as the same. It's a different approach, more of a belt.
22:05 "Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast" is the phrase you want. People use that in other areas, but it applies to singing, too.
Spiritbox will be in Montreal (MTELUS) on April 21.

everyone misses josh singing because he is singing in the same key courtney would.
Also, this has extra layers added plus her guitarist is also singing in some parts.
Josh is sooo good
You should absolutely check out "Smile" by Resolve. Anthony, the vocalist, has a very operatic vocal style when doing his cleans.
Is this djent-pop? Post-djent-gaze? I don’t have the words for it, but I like it a lot
stringer cooked on this one
This was fun and i got to learn something, ty! Also, I like your vibe and your orchids 👌
6:20 So Cortney is using Resonance instead of Belting the same way Simone does in the song Arcana.

You should listen to youve youve yu by the hu. Right up your alley.
Courtney has good cleans and good growls, just not as good as Tatiana.
Tati is on another level for sure. At least she doesn't use autotune live like Courtney does
@@workout3D You guys really tell each other a lot of horseshit, huh?
Fragile Jinjer fan alert. Can't stop mentioning Tatiana when it comes to Courtney.
