The true meaning and American translation for Du Hast has been argued over the years so hearing what the song truly means from someone who speaks German is really cool. This song, Engel is definitely one of my favorite Rammstein songs. Keep going down the live Rammstein rabbit hole, it’s well worth it.
The wings weigh around 50kg. Till did hurt himself in the past and they are not used in live shows for quite a while - also: Till turned 62 just two days ago.
There's also shows where the wings are on a stage lift or something that holds the wings and he's lifted with them. So he's carried by them instead of carrying them. Rock im Park 2017 is an example.

I'm not too sure if they still do it, but back in the day, they played a song called Rammstein. Til would walk out wearing a chainmail robe that would be set on fire. He would sit and sing the song while being on fire. It's in some of their older live videos. It's nuts..

But Rammstein can also be humorous. I recommend you "ohne dich", "Zeit" both official videos.

This is the song that .really. got me into Rammstein. I heard Du Hast and thought "Oh, this is cool and weird, I've never heard a German metal band!" but Engel really sold me on being an actual fan.
A few of the bandmembers startet as a punkband in the ddr eastern germany. Bands name was "Feeling B" It's possible that there were even other bands before Rammstein with a connection to them. But I don't remember it anymore. It was before my time. The further back you go in the band's history, the younger and wilder they were. Performances like "Sehnsucht" at Völkerball show this quite well. I don't think they have the same fire as before. For a metal band they were always very quiet, even when they were younger. The shows are getting bigger but their songs are getting quieter and slower. Which doesn't mean you can't listen to their new stuff like "Zeit". For me, they were mostly a kind of entry band into the scene. But what was particularly interesting about Rammstein was that fans from other countries sang along to entire lines of the lyrics in German. That's pretty cool.
Rammstein had amazing music videos as well!!! Their live shows change over time look up an older version of Engel, or Weisse Fleisch. Rammstein has done so much amazing work!!!!

My Till Lindemann anecdote, I worked in a hotel in Berlin, he turned up with a woman one night and booked a room, rock star behaviour as usual. The following night he turned up with a different woman and I said “room without breakfast like last night?” And the woman walked away. I was very lucky that he didn’t punch the living daylights out of me, he was very angry…but recognising returning customers was hotel policy, so… hahaha

Good reaction. I'm not a fluent German speaker, I'm from southern Denmark, I can understand most of the lyrics, but I'm sure I miss a large amount of the subtext.
Just in case someone is interested: There is an impressive "behind the scenes" video that shows the complexity of how such big concerts/performances of Rammstein get planned, prepared, what needs to be considered, who is involved - all the smallest details (e.g. organising parking space for the trucks, getting enough electric power, catering for the crew, getting fireworks approved by local authorities, etc.) It's about one hour long - but really worth watching... I am german aswell - and I never liked metal or rock music, always was into Rap and Hiphop. Two years ago I was at my first Rammstein concert, two times in Munich, my hometown. Once with my dad, once with my brother - It was the absolute freaking best experience of my life! I even started to learn to play the guitar because of them. I always hated them for over 30 years, now I love Rammstein more then every other band. These guys are so awesome, and so often so misinterpreted. I see them at least at the same level as Metallica or AC/DC. And my stupid youth myself went to german and american Rap-Concerts my whole life - which is just lame in comparison to that. Please continue that journey :)

There are a lot of very deep rammstein songs out there, like Zeit or Ohne dich. Also a few Lindemann solos like Wer weiß das schon.
