Surf candies are great patterns to mimicking small bait fish. Deer creek makes specific foil bodies for surf candies for silversides, anchovies and sandeels. Once tied these are super durable flies that will last a long time with many catches. These are personally my go to fly for dock light snook, summertime beach snook, and anchovy run tarpon.
If you would like to buy these flies they can be found at CW-Flies.com.
If you wish to buy the foils they will also be for sale shortly on CW-Flies.com

i just started.. was doing things by hand no tools and now i got the tools/vise ect...it makes everything smooth and quick and easy to build... having the vise and tools is a must lol.. its addicting making your own tie fly lures and more satisfaction when you catch a fish a lure you tied up but one big drawback is if you snag and lose you lure lol

If you snag and lose a fly you just get to make more. Better than loosing some of these super expensive plugs they make these days.

@@cwflies I made 4 today getting the hang of it.. making another as I speak lol .. it's so fun making its so quick and easy now I got my starter tools.. later I'll get a better vise stand.. I'm starting to see already how this starter style vise needs more better adjustments and the 360 spin is all wacky and not smooth its binding lol..

@@thatonebeone For a vise its hard to beat a renzetti travler. That is what i use. I think they were like $215. Very worth the money. I don't carry vices on my site yet but when you need materials check out the site.

Man, that’s a gorgeous fly. It looks like a sand eel or a glass minnow. I notice that it’s flat-sided basically. Do you ever have issues with your flat-sided flies turning over and riding on their side in a fast current or on a fast retrieve?
I’ve had that happen a bunch with my flatter-sided streamer patterns.
    Thanks and tight lines!

I don’t have that happen because the hook is so heavy. It keeps the fly riding strait. If using a think wire hook I could see that being more of an issue
