Fly Fishing Migrating Tarpon Off The Beach
Seeing good numbers of tarpon moving north up the beach during their annual summer migration. Great time to dush off the 10wt since my bigger rods don't get much use. Get out in front of the school with a yak minnow and hang on.

      I tired to get the fly but it was in a thought to get to spot and being by myself I’d rather lose the fly so the fish can recover faster. The fly will rust out quickly and that fish will be good to go.

    I know you posted this 1+ year ago so maybe too late for questions but, wondering why a lot of these tarpon flies are tied so far back on the hook and leave so much front shank exposed?

    • @cwflies
      @cwflies Рік тому

      Classic tarpon flies are normally tied with exposed shank so the fly could be tied with a snell knot. With smaller diameter leaders now most people no longer snell the hook and go with other knots like a loop knot for movement.
