How can you talk about *Tony Trent, the Face,* and not mention the fact that one day he just *_put the mask away_* and started being an ordinary unmasked adventure character (still headlined as "Tony Trent, the Face"), a thing no other masked character (AFAIK) ever did?

@Rawrist That was a terrific video. But I just couldn't help but notice that in your opening statement when you were going over the list of well known (DC and Marvel) superheroes who originated during the Golden Age of comics... That you had mentioned the name ''Daredevil''. I am curious as to if you were referring to the Golden Age character from Lev Gleason Publications? Who first appeared in ''Silver Streak Comics'' #6 (Sept. 1940)?

My favorite short-lived good/bad superhero of the "not-as-Golden-as-people-think" Age has to be Iron Lady (Hillman Comics, 1943). Her "superpower" was a pair of mechanically-enhanced gloves that she used to crush bad guys' throats. She only had four adventures across three different titles; the first story gave an overly-detailed history of the gloves, with our heroine finally getting the things on the last page, and the final story ended with Iron Lady pushing a kid out a window to his death after he swiped the gloves from her. Not the best run.
Next up: The Hunchback (Fawcett, 1941). A wealthy playboy dresses up as Charles Laughton's version of the Hunchback of Notre Dame and kills the gangsters! His get-up changed constantly across his own four adventures in Wow Comics, but usually featured misaligned eyes, crooked legs, a wicked shillelagh, and his catchphrase, "Hee hee hee! EEEYOWW!" In the Hunchback's final outing, a policeman examining the body of the corrupt district attorney our hero has strangled (man, they were big on that back in the day, weren't they) looks out the window to see Hunchy staggering off into the dawn. "There he goes, Hunchback. The greatest of us all!"
Last and certainly least...Zippo (Hillman, 1943). An inventor with a pair of compressed-air-powered roller skates that--thanks to pistons running from his belt to his feet--could achieve speeds of up to SIXTY-FIVE MILES AN HOUR! WOW! Also, such a rig would have reduced his lower body to splinters of shattered bone and shredded flesh within a millisecond; he is literally his own vehicle chassis. The schmuck should've just bought a motorcycle. Incredibly, he somehow got eight dull stories before hanging up his skates.

That was great. Captain Tootsie? Really? He and the Clown should have teamed up. They could have used a panel van for their vehicle. The only problem is that they would have to inform their neighbors wherever they set up their hideout. Is Herbert from Family Guy like the old man version of one of these guys? I can't believe that this actually existed! I bet the V on Puppeteer is the Roman numeral for Beethoven's 5th. Anyway keep it up.

I hate to be one of THOSE people, but the trivia junkie in me is forcing me to post this. As for the Puppeteer, the V standing for victory actually makes SOME sense - for the time. In mourse code, 's' and 't' wee used during the was as shorthand for 'victory'. and when typed out on a telegraph, (...-) it sounds like the opening of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.
