*Thor attempts to summon Mjolnir after meeting his mother...* Frigga: Sometimes, it takes a few moments *Mjolnir flies into Thor's hand* Thor: I'm still worthy! Frigga: *smiles knowingly* Sorry if that wasnt accurate as I was already blubbering in my popcorn at this part of the scene. Thor had pretty much hit rock bottom during that 5-year gap. Over and above everything else he'd lost, he lost hope, confidence, and any sense of purpose or well-being. The conversation with his mother was a much-needed balm to his wounded soul, but he also wanted validation that he was still the man his father, Odin, wanted him to become. Freya also understood that, and IMHO said those words to answer Rocket's question as much as to assure her son.
Maybe he's more worthy now than he ever was. Everything he's been through, everyone he's lost, he's a better man for it whether he realizes it or not. I mean, he HAS to be more worthy, right? Otherwise wouldn't Past Thor be able to recall Mjolnir when it began to fly away?

When talking to Tony about his soon to be child, Howard Stark mentions how he would prefer a girl because it would be less of a chance to be like him, who's own self-interest is more important than the greater good. At the end of the movie Tony Stark sacrifices himself thus placing the greater good above his own self interest and fulfilling his father's wish for his child.

Even i thought cap will vo for soul stone as he had nothing left to live for after sam, bucky, peggy and most of his friends gone nothing precious left
The soul stone can not be returned unless he had the help of the ancient one. Not to mention some of the stones still needed to be put back in their proper containers.
I think one of the significant lines will be: Hulk: Maybe he made a mistake. Ancient One: Or I did. I keep feeling like her reply is going to be significant.
She knows Doctor Strange wouldn't have given up the stone unless it was the only way to defeat Thanos in the end, so when Bruce was asking for the stone it seemed like she realized that Strange purposely gave away the stone in order to trigger that specific set of events with which Bruce would need the stone. Essentially I thought her saying "Or I did" was her either admitting she should have given him the stone sooner or realizing that not giving Bruce the stone would be a mistake that would trigger a different set of events for the future resulting in some kind of reality where Thanos wins. Maybe I'm just confused but that's what I gathered from it haha.
@@EvanCorndog I thought that too but the more I thought about it, it didn't seem like she was using past tense to refer to the stone. Still, unless Tilda Swinton is in the cast of Dr. Strange 2: Life is Stranger, it's probably just a case of me thinking too hard on it.
@@markkramer5740 I interpreted that line as she used the Time Stone to determine who would be the new guardian, BUT she is questioning if she went through enough future timelines (or far enough) and may have banked on the wrong guy. The ancient one knew that if she taught strange off the bat he is only doing it to expand his knowledge he has no care for the fact of what to do with such powers and he'd probably turn out like kaecilius or mordo even to go using dark magic and venturing into things too powerful and having no control over it, she knew strange had to earn what responsibilities are required to be the sorcerer supreme

the interpretation here for sorcerer supreme's reasons for throwing Strange out when he first came to the sanctum is understandably flawed because it's interpreted through Western ideals and not through Asian/Eastern culture. This "throwing out" of someone when they seek "the teachings" is very, very common. Strange came from a background of arrogance and "having it all". In other words, he was entitled and privileged. Sorcerer Supreme threw him out because of that. Though she knew he would one day be the greatest, he was not mentally there yet. To receive the teachings, he has to be mentally there--meaning, he has to demonstrate sincerity. He got kicked out and he stayed there... overnight, in a foreign place, even after being beaten and robbed. He stayed. He knew that was the place to go and by demonstrating that sincerity, his mind already began to transform. In Eastern culture, which is very, very similar to what the portrayal of the mystic arts is based on, the master of a teaching receives a new student first when the student comes in with humility, respect, and most of all, genuine sincerity. Strange came in with his cultural background and life--arrogant, entitled, and privileged--he expect to just knock on someone's door, ask for some services, get in and get out. So it's very common that masters will see this and refuse to teach the person at the start--often rejecting the pupil or keeping them in a servile position, such as sweeping floors and doing chores (whatever it takes), to get the student to give rise to sincerity, genuine intent, and to truly want to learn. So as you can see, Sorcerer Supreme's throwing out of Strange despite knowing he'd one day be the greatest, was just in line with Eastern culture and philosophy. This concept is often foreign to Westerners because they are very much like Steven Strange. They expect to just walk into a classroom and receive teachings. For something so sacred and special as the Mystic Arts, Dr. Strange wouldn't have been able to become who he was destined to become by remaining the arrogant Dr. Steven Strange. He had to humble himself and not be that arrogant prick that could just come in and demand for something as sacred as the Mystic Arts. And to further this explanation... in Eastern culture and philosophy-- pupils serve the master in lowly chores because it takes them out of the position of an entitled, arrogantly demanding, privileged child. They learn to work for the teachings. If they're truly sincere, then they'll go through anything to receive the teachings. If they don't want to get their hands dirty, then their minds are not sincere. If they are not sincere, then why should the master give them the sacred teachings? That's why Dr. Strange had to go through this---to humble himself, lose "himself", and answer to himself just how sincere he is. And that sincerity eventually was received by Sorcerer Supreme and accepted. Of course, for film-sake, a day and a night was good enough. In reality, pupils can end up not even entering the front doors for quite a while.
The scenes with the Sorcerer Supreme had a philosophical depth for me. The way she described how changing the past could disrupt the flow of reality and how she understood Dr. Strange's decision were just mind-blowing.
Genius heroes are doubly gifted, so I expected the stickiest marvel villainy in his debut. I hope they do him justice in his 2nd solo. To me he's the most interesting hero to watch by far.

Sorry if that wasnt accurate as I was already blubbering in my popcorn at this part of the scene.

The soul stone can not be returned unless he had the help of the ancient one. Not to mention some of the stones still needed to be put back in their proper containers.
I think one of the significant lines will be:
Hulk: Maybe he made a mistake.
@@EvanCorndog I thought that too but the more I thought about it, it didn't seem like she was using past tense to refer to the stone.

the interpretation here for sorcerer supreme's reasons for throwing Strange out when he first came to the sanctum is understandably flawed because it's interpreted through Western ideals and not through Asian/Eastern culture.
Exactly. I knew Ancient One reasons instantly. He needed to prove his dedication.
