Great video and information/ On my second ProMaster, had trans service, replaced pan with Dorman with drain plug; filter and ATF 4 fluid. At intervals can replace 5.5 qts; 2 more times and almost change fluid including in torque converter. Yes, it will be mixed fluid; drain plug pan worth the $50. Trans dipstick can be made with oil stick, slight notches at 10mm and 40mm for cold and hot fluid level with good in middle area. Thank you from Texas

Thanks Steve I am tempted to get the doorman‘s transmission pan so I can change the fluid myself but mostly I just send it to a shop in town about a 10 minute walk from my house that way if the van needs anything mechanically, they will tell me and I’ll just fix it

WTF would anyone thumbs down this video, or any of your others, for that matter? I've been learning a lot as I go through them and I appreciate that you took the time and effort to make them.
I have young relatives who plan on living full time in their vans and expediting seems a really good job for them. As well, it might be a good job for me to cruise (pun intended) into retirement, as well, so I am learning about it.

Hey sir love your videos especially this one I just bought a ProMaster 3500 2022 and I also got the maintenance package so am I good to let the dealership do the oil change and the transmission pan drop or should I buy the oil that you're talking about and the transmission that you're talking about and getting an outside mechanic to do it?

You’re going to have oil changes every 10,000 miles I recommend using 100% synthetic oil I use Amsoil signature series that’s good for 20,000 miles that’s up to you if you want to go that long, change your transmission fluid and filter every 60,000 miles make sure they drop the pan never do a flush. Also save money for upper strut bearings to be done. I believe I did mine around 160,000 miles. because one bearing went bad, so I changed both. Hopefully other than that that’s all you really need to do maintenance wise to it. Just remember, save during the good times for the bad times and for maintenance. The reason I’m not giving you a dollar amount is because everybody’s maintenance is different plus I live in Canada so the price will be a lot higher if I’m getting maintenance done in Canada.

What Duncan's said in his 15 minute video is don't get screwed owning a Promaster; instead buy a Ford Transit. In Duncan's next video, you will see his Promaster towing a covered trailer. The trailer will contain an extra motor and transmission. Just teasing ya!! Good advice on carrying an extra belt, alternator, and starter. I seen some videos where expediters carry oil drain pan, filter, and oil to do oil change on the road during down time. I'm going to have to look at my 5 qt. oil jugs to see if it says full or 100% synthetic. To me full and 100% mean the same.

No one believes me when I tell them do not idle these engines. And as RV’s, if they come equipped with the second alternator, used as an “UHG“ (Under-Hood Generator), some of the manufacturers set the high idle feature for the purpose of running the UHG too low (under 1500 RPM) and the second stage oil pump doesn’t kick in. Some RV manufacturers found out the hard way, and of course as well as the RV owners.
So, how many miles do you have on yours now?

Thanks for the information. Lately, I keep getting the beep telling me that my slider door is open when it's not. And half the time I think that my van is locked after I click the lock on the key fob. I camped out in the van on the Feast of Tabernacles. My husband has arthritis, and didn't want to camp. He slept in the house. But he was always chiding me for not locking the van before I turned in for the night. He was always able to open the van the next morning for breakfast. But I did lock the van each time with the key fob. It just didn't lock when I clicked it. So there's that.

Congratulations on your new purchase I have no idea where the canister purge valve is I'm assuming somewhere near the gas tank should be an easy fix as long as the check engine light isn't flashing while you're driving you're good make sure you run a good synthetic oil 100% synthetic and go buy some motorkote stick 12 oz in the oil change the transmission fluid have them drop the pan change the filter and gasket put a new filter and gasket on the pan refill with new transmission fluid every 60,000 miles and do not idle the vehicle for a long time only let it warm up and cool down that's it
