Hey guys! I'm so grateful for all of your lovely comments. A little explanation as to why the comment section was so empty before -- I had all comments held for review and I just... didn't know that you had to go into the youtube studio to check 😂I'm so glad everybody enjoyed! I will be making part 2 soon since I've finished my Film course now and should have time over this Summer. Sorry for the wait!
This was a field of fanwork I never knew about until my uni teacher recommended your video for our class. I like how through you were with the explanations and though I'm feeling quite intimidated by the whole thing, the challenge is half the fun. We're from completely different sides of the internet - me, a supergirl fan who's used to highly detailed fan art and fanfiction; you, a talented animator and excelent teacher, by the looks of it! - and still the common ground was found. I find that interesting, and I'm really thankful to you for taking the precious time to come up with this video. Now off I go, hopefully with enough time to master that sick learning curve. Again, thank you, and I'll be sharing this video with my colleagues too.
This was so useful to me, thank you very much! It's a great video's for people like me who have animatic ideas in their heads and want to make them happen. I really look forward to your part two, because editing and drawingprograms are the points I struggle with the most, since I don't really know where to start. But thank you for this one already!
I'm sorry it's taking so long! Hopefully will get it done over this summer. I hope you're doing well and still plenty of those animatic ideas floating around!
Thanks for posting this!! This helps alot since I am going to start working on my animatic for my (hopefully bigger) animation! I really had no clue where to start since I actually based me animatic around the song and am having to come up with new characters. Thanks :)
I'd just like to thank you for this. My first animatic was complete garbage if I'm being honest and I feel I'm going to get better because of this 😀 Thanks ~
Wow, this is pretty helpful, i'td interesting how many ways you can improve what at the beggining looks just like "some draws and a song", i loved it, i will be waiting for the editing video!!!
thank you So Much i can't animate rn because i don't have the tools yet but when i do this will be the first video i look up, i've already added it to my art ref playlist!
I'm fangirling do not mind me I'm only fangirling bcs of the Sanders Sides but thank you for the tips because I was planning to make my first animatic.
HOPE YOURE DOING OKAY! I literally just found this video because I really want to start getting into digital drawing and animatics and your video helped out a lot!!! I was hoping you made the second video for editing but I hope you’re doing good since you haven’t uploaded in 9 months
I’m just curious, but what animation programs would you recommend? I’m just getting into animatics and am looking for something free. Thank you in advance!
I use Final Cut for all my videos but I know that's expensive and not everyone has access to it, so don't feel you need to fork out for that. iMovie is good and free but it's only for Mac and iOS, unfortunately. There are plenty of free, open-source editing programs that you can get on all devices such as DaVinci Resolve (somewhat of a steep learning curve but it has a wide array of featured), OpenShot and ShotCut. DaVinci in particular has a lot of tutorials online so it's worth it to spend the time teaching yourself how to use all of its features. In the next video I'll be using Final Cut for my demonstrations but I'll make sure to keep the actual techniques generic to most programs. Thanks for watching!!
Let us never forget about the animatic's older sibling, the story reel(basically the storyboards put together in a video with audio).
