  • Pakistan's former prime minister, Imran Khan, told DW in an exclusive interview that the government in Islamabad was trying to kill him because he threatens its grip on power.
"They are threatened. They know elections. They cannot compete. And so their motive was to get me out of the way. They tried other ways. They tried to disqualify me, put terrorism cases on me."
Khan told DW: "The people who are threatened the most, who would want me to be eliminated, is the current government."
Khan, a former national cricket hero who served as Pakistan's prime minister from August 2018 until April 2022, was injured on November 3, while leading a protest for early elections.
Khan sustained three bullet wounds to his leg and thighs in an attack that killed one of his supporters and injured 14 more.

At the moment he isn't a country leader. You should show respect but you should be allowed to ask any question. She didn't insult him. What you are suggesting will eventually just lead to terrible censorship. You know people like Honecker never gave an interview like that when in power they would censor it and kill the person asking the question destroying free journalism.

I thought the sherlock Holmes comment was extremely immature. This guy is telling you that he has circumstantial evidence plus intelligence information that his assassination was plotted by the government and establishment. It is the job of the investigative officers to find out whether his claims are correct or not after carrying out a detailed investigation of the chain of events and the crime scene plus what follows afterwards. If the govt is innocent why are they not letting him file a report to the police? Every citizen has the right to file a report to the police and name the suspect, and they do not have to present "hard evidence" as you ask for. Then the police will carry out the investigation and provide "hard evidence". Its been like 10 days and still the police is not filing his complaint. If citizens have to provide "hard evidence" before registering a complaint to the police, what are the investigation teams for?

You are absolutely correct! I think he is the best leader for Pakistan. He is very honest, he did everything for the good of his people and country when he was the PM. He is a selfless man! He did not take advantage of his position when he was the PM to fill up his pocket with money. Above all, he took out his own money to build the cancer hospital! Very Unfortunately, other politicians are too corrupted and turned their backs on him, partly because US , ,ight have played a role in getting him removed because they tried to persuade Imran to side with them against China and Imran said that would mean jeopardizing a-70 year old relationship that Pakistan has with China and he did not listen to US, unlike Indian PM, would do anything to kiss up to US!I hope God will protect Imran from the evils and punish the evil politicians!

Pakistan's politics & criminal justice system is entirely different from other countries of the world, in politics, vote doesn't elect rather counting hands decides who stood elected, while in criminal justice system, only the criminals are employed as police officials, they temper verbatism of victim, they delay in registration of crime as, all incriminatory evidence could disappear from crime scene, sadly in those case, where ruling party has interest,in such criminal cases material evidence is deliberately disloged from prosecution file, honesty cease to work in such circumstances, thank God, Imran miraculously survive else uncalled reason could have been saddled with tragic mishap; as pray of prayers was distrub by protesters thus such reason motivated assassin to assassinate I.K , Quaid Azam was denied of transport to reach hospital died in T.B, Liquat Ali Khan was assassinated, Zulifaquar Bhutto was hanged under allegation of abetting offence later on, it revealed no offence ever stood committed ultimately in these days apex court too, admits that assassination of bhutto was judicial killing, Banazir bhutto was assassinated, not to speak any single culprit escapes prosecution, were there any single arrest ever made,, life, property protection only prescribe in constitution with specific articles, however in real life highly influential public figure like former PM has been targeted includes other PTI leaderes, while one of protestor, pro imran was mistakenly murdered; apart from this stock attacker was arrested, while FIR has still been not registered by those who stood targated rather police being state registers crime, killers shall remain invisible, none crime is registerd against them nor they fear their arrest; even any else in crime else, if arrested, he seeks release by paying prosecution & courts, our judicial system runs to hold & contain poor while rich r above catch & hold of our judiciary...It's rudderlessly going, how long this is going by what mode !! nothing is certain !!! Nothing is there to make it certain in mmediate future???

That's typical of Pakistani PMs, they couldn't deliver an iota of a thing and after coming out of power they put all blame of establishment. For example, in his tenure, Imran didn't bother to pursue Model Town case in which current PM and Interior Minister are alleged and now he's using it for its political purpose. Similarly, the case Malik Riaz's case, a Pakistani business tycoon, UK froze his assets and returned this money to Pakistan and Pakistani government (Imran's party) returned the money to Malik Riaz in Pakistan. And the then interior minister Fawad CH said we'll not reveal the details of this money settlement. That's how he protected the elite in his tenure and now he's campaigning against it.
