@@deborahfreedman333 The ISI (intelligence Agency of Pakistan) is trying to kill him with the help from the current government, he mentioned that many times in his speeches, and he mentioned precisely how they will carry out the assassination. Only an independent investigation is needed to get a SOLID proof. You can't get a SOLID proof when dealing with an intelligence agency like ISI, they have done many killings in the past. Now the same intelligence agency is blocking an independent investigation. If you watch and pay attention to recent events that took place in Pakistan you would easily connect the dots and know who is behind all this. Last month a journalist (Arshad Sharif) was killed in Kenya, he was Imran's supporter and he was exposing the lies and corruptions of military generals and the current PM. While he was in Pakistan, he was threatened and many fake cases were registered against him, he left the country because he feared for his life, but they still managed to kill him. Almost all Pakistanis fear for Imran's life and CNN is not highlighting this, they seem to be taking the side of perpetrators in Pakistan

Becky - don't you think it is not funny journalism when a person who was hit with bullets is asked to provide the evidence and tell who the perpetrators are. The victim is only asked who do you suspect and what do you think is the motive behind your assassination attempt.. Then it is up to the law enforcement agencies to investigate and collect evidences.
You should have asked why the First Information Report was not registered until now and no forensics investigation has been conducted after such a major incident against the most popular leader in Pakistan? Have you not asked your local correspondent what officially the Interior minister has been saying about eliminating Imran Khan (no mincing of words there) at multiple occasions on Public TV. Maryam Safdar has openly issued threats like that as well. Have you heard any peep from her on twitter? The statements are all recorded in a public domain so you can do your homework. The angle you pursued of questioning makes it clear that you are either being VERYT careful in following CNN editorial script that has been given to you while giving Imran a chance defend his position AND/OR you have not been following whats happening in Pakistan very closely over the last three months.
If later is the case, then to bring you up to speed. There is wide spread media intimidation, threats to life of journalists and their family members, bans on channels that show Imran rallies and point of view. This is all well known yet you tried to portray Shahbaz Sharif's as the one who lifted the ban which was imposed by his own government couple of hours ago and he knew that courts would have over turned previous bans so his government will be embarrassed again if they did this again., So he did this to save himself another court defeat and public embarrassment.
There were two separate bursts of gun shots from two different directions as reported by the Telegraph and other international media and as shown on several video clips on You Tube of the incident as it unveleld . The question should be why you are naming them as suspects and what are your reasons behind it? Don't you know how Benazir Bhutto was killed in Pakistan and that was also blamed on some religious fanatic. There is a history in Pakistan for white washing these types of crimes against Pakistan. If you don't have all the background then please do your home work.

Furthermore, is he supposed to provide evidence to her in order for her to believe him. Had she done her research or allowed him to talk properly, she’d know how many from his party have been unlawfully arrested, stripped naked, tortured, filmed and blackmailed. The current Pakistan establishment have stooped so low that they have secretly filmed a 75 year old senator with his wife and sent that video to their son and the wife in an attempt to silence the senator. Becky was defending the unelected prime minister shabaz sharif as if he wasn’t a convicted criminal.

It is the investigators who find and dig out the pieces of evidence. Your question is like asking a victim, have you investigated the accused yourself and sentenced him? In a criminal case, First of all, the victim nominates individuals in an FIR if he thinks of somebody, secondly, investigators call the accused a person of interest then the individual becomes a suspect and finally convict or free by the court.

Khan describes a campaign denouncing him as having committed blasphemy. One question is of course whether he actually did which would determine if the report would be a defamation, potentially with serious and predictable consequences or just journalism. Khan continues to describe government officials echoing the accusations, again potentially promoting serious and predictable consequences. Governments however do not have the same purpose as journalists, even if the accusations were true, they in deed should definitely not induce these serious consequences, their job is to make laws and enforce them, not to send the mob on a mission.
Here I want to point to Paul Pelosi. CNN as well as civilised political circles attribute this incidence to hate mongering, and rightly so. We should not forget that blasphemy in an Islamic country, especially one that is not exactly politically stable and that is definitely either involved in or vulnerable to extremism is dangerous to the extreme. We condemn the treatment of Salman Rushdi, who actually committed what in Islam is arguably understood as blasphemy. A treatment where a state promoted the assassination of an individual. Pakistani government officials peddling accusations of blasphemy is not the same as an explicit assassination order, but it's close enough, especially with the precedence of Rushdi.
Becky now citing the Pakistani government and army condemning Khans accusation of assassination as a valid criticism of Khans position is as ridiculous as it is irresponsible. Khan actually provides evidence (assuming that government officials actually peddled these accussations) for at least the fact that government officials are involved (until 2:58). Whether the prime minister is himself involved has at this point not yet been discussed. By confronting Khan with this argument at this point, she assumes credibility for the very institution that is accused by Khan. Does Becky expect the government would admit to an assassination attempt if they were guilty? And she does this with this investigative journalist smugness that is justified if you actually caught someone on the wrong foot, not when you as journalist are siding with one party.
A real journalist listens to arguments and once the information is on the table shows what's wrong with an argument, if there is something wrong. I'm only at the first third of the video and I'm already disgusted by what I see. How can CNN let such a failure of a journalist interview people? This is so unprofessional and really biased. Khan may or may not be a blasphemer, he may or may not be corrupt, he may or may not be an enemy of the USA. I don't know. I watched a couple of CNN interviews with Khan and not once did I see CNN catch Khan in contradictions or lies. That does not mean that Khan is right, it just means that CNN certainly fails to damage Khan, not for a lack of trying.
CNN really appears to be at pretty much the same level as Fox news, just with a tiny bit more decorum and little less obvious about it. It's a shameful display.

    • @shimmy332

Fox News is a great analogy

    • @michaelutech4786
      @michaelutech4786 Рік тому

@@shimmy332 I meanwhile got pointed to a TRT world interview that covers mostly the same topics and can serve as an example of professional journalism: ua-cam.com/video/Vt7U-WctTrs/v-deo.html
This interview covers the same 'tough questions' without unnecessary aggressions and presumptions and leaves it up to the audience to rate the credibility of either side.
I doubt that anybody who would watch the TRT version and concludes that Khan is credible would come to a different conclusion watching CNN. The only difference I see is that CNN looses credibility.
I think there are three axis of bias that are relevant for the question of how to understand and rate Khans accusations:
      - USA vs. Khan as PM (Khan's departure from the USA)
      - Khan (pro/contra Khan as PM from a Pakistani perspective)
      - Legitimacy and trust in any Pakistan Government (Democracy/...)
Many commenters here are Pakistani who are either opposed or in favour of Khan and argue according to that 'bias' - he is either the liberator or a liar.
There seem to be very little confidence on Pakistani institutions, both Khan supporters and opponents as well as Khan himself now that he is no longer PM criticise the corruption and volatility in Pakistan. Only the government itself sees that different and only now that it's in power. The USA shared criticism while Khan was in office and less so now that he is ousted.
The USA-Khan axis of bias seems to be very transactional, there is obviously a conflict of interest.
We are all biased, simply because none of us can really know the truth with complete certainty, we have to make up our minds based on incomplete, questionable and often contradictory information. But that does not mean that we have to elevate our bias to a believe system. Nothing prevents us to appreciate our bias and still balance the little evidence we have and let that have an impact on our concrete opinions and then also on our bias.
Becky Andersson and consequently CNN are utterly irresponsible in letting bias drive their work. Freedom of press comes with an assumption of decency. If that assumption cannot be upheld, this leads inevitably to the removal of freedom or the irrelevancy of the press, both of which are catastrophes.
