I mean the alternative would be watching gameplay where all the reds are on the other side of the map and it takes ten minutes to get them into gun range.
The Seattle was a real pain in the ass to grind through. The gun angles are awful, the shells are floaty, and the armor… what armor? Seattle really made my blood boil and made me wanna pull my hair out. 😡
Seattle is an off-knocked ship, including by me. In just about every respect, except for getting a heal, it’s still a Cleveland (great ship) but a tier higher. However, I’ve reset the US CLs 3 or 4 times now, and Seattle has grown on me with subsequent regrinds. Just requires extra cautious light cruiser tactics.
I just don't like cruisers. Of everything I'm playing, the cruiser lines are my least favorite. I don't care for the play style required. They're just miserable, they're glass flame throwers with a short range.
Colorado phase is just a painful grind. Hated every bit of my time with that ship. It was actually Izumo that got me semi-retired back late 2017. But, I had a good time with it when I came back to the game for a while to finally get the Yamato back 2020. I guess that was when Izumo was buffed(?).
It's not that Colorado is a bad ship, it's more that because WG decided to split the American BB line not just into two, but three tech lines all starting at Colorado that it became a huge PITA.
Ill tell you whats sucks when grinding a ship, not paying attention and buying the wrong one ): Hopped on the wrong line when tryin to head twords the Yamato , lol.
I still remember the orginal FdG grind when people tell you just to press W and ram to get any damage... Also the orginal Izumo... With its 3 hulls that each had diffrent shell characteristics - from god awfull to finally something decent.
The Dutch cruisers suck pretty badly overall in a lot of places, but for me the absolute worst part of it was the damn Haarlem. Man, that ship... Picture this: The entire line up until the Haarlem has been light cruisers with meh accuracy and bottom tier gun performance that explode if you look at them. But fine, the Kijkduin (T6) and the Eendracht (Tier 7) can still sit behind islands and do some work, especially if the enemy tries to push in, since you can also punish the fairly slow BBs with permafires from your decent HE and your airstrikes. Not to mention, cocky or ignorant CVs can be deplaned pretty effectively at these tiers with your good AA. But now you hit the Haarlem - a battlecruiser hull with battleship burn times, for... nothing in exchange. You don't have super cruiser guns, you have 8 inch Hipper guns with worse ballistics and awful AP. Seriously, it might be the worst CA AP in any line. I think I had a round in which I managed to score ten citadels against a single Baltimore, and she survived. On top of that, the combination of ballistics and map spread, in conjunction with her (at most) 15.6 km max range means you can no longer really farm from behind islands. You don't even get the spotter plane the previous ships got to improve your range. Getting double uptiered in this thing (which, it's a T8, so it's gonna happen a lot) absolutely sucks since you have to be almost suicidally close to even fire your guns. The dispersion is bad as well, so you will often miss your only early game targets (DDs on the point) with half your shots and every hit will feel like it's doing next to nothing. Her reload time is also 15 seconds, so her DPM even if you're hitting every shell (you're not) is likewise abysmal. Her concealment is great (sub 10km!) but she has next to nothing to use it with, as the airstrikes feel like annoyances against most targets at most, even if you get the permafires, since the damage can all be healed back. The armor scheme is decent, and she feels like she wants to get close to enemies, but she loses against almost any same tier ship in a fight, even if you get someone isolated. Her middling speed also means that you can't necessarily count on going dark and running if you want to, as any DD can keep you permaspotted. Overall, just an awful time.
Maybe it just isn't the line for you, Haarlem is like where it becomes interesting a switch from light to nearly heavy, the guns can bite though accuracy is not the greatest, airstrikes are OK and if you have a good land to hug even when double uptiered, you can just spam airstrikes and send a few HEs to do reasonable damage. The ship needs certain maps but can do really well.
I actually did pretty good in the Colorado, but I didn't play it like a BB. I played it like a cruiser, hiding behind islands and sneek hitting the enemy.
The Japanese bb line has been the most painful for me. That dispersion is just pure anguish. I spent a whole t6 game shooting a cruiser and I finally got him with only over pins
What most players either were not around for or forgot about is the fact we used to have to grind multiple hulls per ship in the original lines. There were other upgrades as well, so there was more things per ship to work through before you could get to the next tier of ship. So ships like the Colorado, Izumo, and FDR were truly painful. Luckily WG has scaled back the amount of items per ship you have to obtain before getting further along the line.
I really just don't like cruisers. They're not fun, the play style required is just nerve wracking and agonizing. Cruisers are for the most part glass flame throwers with no range. Especially the light cruisers. U.S. cruisers have a stupid high free board, no armor, and a giant, weak, easy to hit citadel. I need to get through them, but I really dislike them.
The FdG is my second most played BB after the OG Missouri, and also my highest win rate... I have no idea how or why, it felt like it sucked but apparently worked for me
Being an idiot the first line i grinded was the Japanese light cruiser line, and the gokase was easily one of the most painful things ive had to do i mean its not bad but as a new player its really hard to learn.
I had a lot of fun with the Surrey. T8-9 was awful. Then you get Goliath and it’s amazing. I personally have found many t10 ships twice as good as their t9 counterparts.
@@ahemschmeyer don't blame you. I realised the guns and armour were both useless, so just focussed on ambushing BBs with the torps. Despite it having the same hull, I quite enjoyed Cheshire - since it actually has useful guns.
@@abdullahertogral8845 Mostly just not my playstyle, you rely on your team spotting, which in the current meta, is a challenge. Shells feel inconsistent in terms of pen. Range and accuracy is decent though.
Important lesson, don't free XP to complete a ship grind, use your free XP to upgrade your new stock ship. I learned that from Claus Kellerman talking World of Tanks.
Blasphemy!!! Do not besmirch the name of the Fattleship! Shes old, shes slow, but she still slaps hard even at bottom tier.. at least if you are under 15 clicks. I actually used a camp, and one of my free tier 7 credit package on it.
I did get FtG-or “Fat Freddy”- as I hear it called. Took it right back to the lot that week. It’s so long people at the back have no idea what is happening at the front and it makes it hard to avoid anything.
I feel the Izumo one, except I just used the blue eco bonuses and a mix of free xp (And being honest an accidental spacebar press at 6am) screw the Izumo!!!
I grinded the Colorado and I agree (even if it can be good) but for me the Cherbourg was the worse, like this ship had almost nothing, i just sold it and Fxped to Marseille Honorable mention to the Sovietsky Soyouz too.
Back when I was first grinding the USN BBs I FXP'd the Colorado grind to the NC. Now in 2024 I'm suddenly discovering I love the thing. Maybe not enough to grind three separate T8s, but man I was missing out.
I remember a good clip with bismarck on 2 brothers middle played by flambass. He was very close to an enemy ship who rushed him through middle. Front guns shot landed in the water split both sides from the enemy bow. It was peak german gun memes.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 The Colorado is fine. It teaches you patience and positioning. I've been through it twice. I'm not worried about the third time, I don't care about the "hybrid" line. The North Carolina and Kansas are harder to be successful in. Honestly, I find both U.S. cruiser lines far more miserable. The high free board, the short range, the giant citadel with the "smash me" neon sign flashing over it, and the mediocre guns, average damage, and average manueverability.
Honestly, the Colorado wasn't that bad, the New Mex was a far worse grind, not helped by the fact that shortly after starting that grind, I got for free the AZ, which is the better Standard. I'm not saying that Col didn't have some rough games, and that New Mex didn't have some moments of glory, I just wouldn't say the Col grind was so bad to top this list, not when Monarch exists, a ship who's buff didn't touch the thing I hated about her, the better heal is great, but that just meant that she lives longer to be disappoint me by her guns even more, and Veneto, a ship so bad it that it deserves all of the spots on this list, not just #2. Is the Col painfully slow? Yes, but unless you are grinding in only Co-Op (where even a speed demon of a BB can watch all of the potential targets go "poof" before you get a second shot off at them), or your luck is so bad to ALWAYS be double uptiered (yeah, that would be painful, but Col alone doesn't share that issue, it is a T5-9 issue), the Col grind is manageable, and if you know what you're doing as to somewhat preposition, Ops can be a decent alterative to grind
I think you nailed that pretty well SLM, i had to reach for a rolaids as i remember those ships in the early part of my 8 year WOWs career. I recall painstakingly wanting to skip those ships to get to the better ships above them. Its almost like WG created T8 BBs then T10s, oops we forgot T9s.... oh well just put in some place holder ships at T9 and we will get back to them later.
Oh yeah lol, I remember back in the day when people would just skip both FDG and Izumo - I was even told not to bother investing on modules for them. I think back then there were some other T9s who were considered to be mediocre in most trees and were free xp skips. Also, personally never minded the Colorado or Venetto
My worst grind was the first line of French Cruisers. I gave up at the T8 Charles, that piece of ship was so bad to play I didn't even waste the Free exp to get to the T9. It was so bad I stopped grinding ships for a year and will probably never play those french cruisers ever again.
10 years ago the worst grind was between the Colorado to North Carolina Back then you had no boasters and less XP per game and I could not afford premium time. And the Colorado had not made better due to patches even then she still a bad ship…. Going from 12 guns on the New Mexico down to to 8 guns is bad because you have even less chance of hitting anything
for me the worst three by far were Harbin, in random battles harbin is so atrocious at tier 8, getting dragged into tier 10 when you already get out dpm'd by an akizuki is vile. Speaking of akizuki, the shiratsuyu was the most harrowing experience of my life, that ship is truly appalling, extremely slow torps, extremely slow ship, the torps are spotted from the moon with an insanely long reload on both guns and torps, and being forced to take EITHER smoke so you dont die instantly or torp reload so you can actually do damage, because your guns are atrocious, 7.5 second reload on 5 guns that turn about as fast as yamato. And finally, gneisenau... that ship made me straight up quite playing german ships, i sold the ship and abandoned the line until i had enough free xp and credits to buy the bismarck, I do not know if it was a skill issue or the worst luck in history when it comes to dispersion but i quit playing the game for about 6 months as a direct result of gneisenau. never again shall that ship plague my harbor.
The grind to Elbing was pretty painful for me. Doesnt have concealment, hydro, radar. Slowest torps. Rated as a dd but basically a crusier with none of the cruiser advantages, outdpmed by cruisers and dds alike. Other honorable mentions: dutch cruisers and the pan American cruisers. Oh and Seattle.
Hi Sealord. Regarding FdG, worked for me using it as an HE ship. Keep the small guns to gain better reload time and use HE almost entire game, except for really short distances. Alll focus on main guns, secs, mehh. Note: I used Preussen the same way for a bit, worked just fine.
Personally I didn't mind FDG, and I really enjoy Izumo to the point I went out of my way to get Bajie, and am fully planning on re-buying her soon. Didn't mind the Veneto ether she just didn't feel as bad as everyone says she is. On the flip side... Normandie/Lyon are hot garbage and are FAR worse than everyone says they are. Alsace is in that same boat. They are just horrible ships and clearly free XP traps. Buffalo is HORRIBLE, no armour mixed with a worse radar than Baltimore and worse frontal DPM. Ibuki is also REALLY bad, and is such a massive downgrade over Mogami. I would also add every American BB under T9 to the Colorado listing. They are ALL bad until they get dispersion mod at T9. Then they get rather good, but until then it's like playing secondary builds without the benefit of decent secondaries. Yorck is also a pain point, but I've also not gotten through her yet so I don't know if things get any better. Just feels like a flat downgrade over the ships that came before her. Haarlem was also fairly rough and I'd say worse than any single ship on this list. Though really outside of the WORST BBs, any of the bad cruiser grinds will be worse than a BB grind just because you have no armour and are at the mercy of those BBs. Legit wondering why Normandie/Lyon/Alsace weren't on this list? Nostalgia maybe? I know on launch people loved those ships for some reason, yet never play them today and still claim they are great ships... Alsace really gets me because at one point she was likely okay, then she got nerfed to hell and now she's hot garbage and an objective downgrade over Richelieu.
Unironically I would rather spend money on free exp to skip the Colorado than play a single game of that thing. Slow, bad armor, dispersion sucks, you get farmed going in, you get farmed going out, CVs smack you with no problem, AA Sucks, Subs bully you, ETC. There isn't a boat i hate more than the Colorado.
Idk if it's just me but the italian battleships are REALLY behaving nicely with me. Good armor, really strong guns with accuracy that is... yeah, not the best, but I still don't have problems landing nasty hits consistently with both SAP and AP. Veneto is in fact one of my best battleships. I think their accuracy issues are *really* overplayed, especially compared to the german, french and even the japanese battleships, which are either slightly better or slightly worse. Either that or my bias towards them has blinded me to the truth, but idk I get good battles with them. They tank well, move well and hit well, as I would expect from a battleship. The armor is also what I consider appropriate for a battleship; very much tanky when angled, but also very consistently punishable if caught broadside. I like that far more than just having an invincible citadel or whatever.
After playing the Izumo for a while, I said "Fk it" and used my free XP to get to Yamato. Even with any buffs/etc. WG has, it's still an awful ship. I did find it interesting that you talk about the change in battleship dispersion in the German BB line. I hadn't realized it had been done ( I'm coming up on my second year). For the years before I started playing, I kept hearing various UA-camrs calling the Gnisenau the "GneiseNO." But when grinding through the Gneisenau, I kept thinking "This ship isn't all that bad, WTF are they talking about?" I'm not saying it's my favorite ship ever, but I wasn't seeing any reason for the hate. That the dispersion got buffed? OK, that explains it if you played it before then.
I would say the Colorado isn't a bad ship, it's just hard to play, some of my best games have been games where it just wrecked. It unfortunately is a ship that needs things to go your way. You need help when playing it and you need to get good shots on the enemy.
I actualy like Izumo, though to be fair I only knew it in the latest version, I imagine the previous version could have been a misery close to colorado. But, the guns are at present fairly accurate, armor is not bad, its weak on AA and fires, but you can bow tank a lot and outgun and overmatch a lot too. Another thing is, when I got to the Yamato at last, I felt the need of everybody on the enemy team to do notice there is a Yamy in the other team and that they need to focus fire it even though for the remaining time of the battle nobody focused anybody else, Yamato is very often the focus fire on me ship... nobody cares for poor Izumo so you can play it low and get some nice shots while at it.
the worst thing I did to my FDG experience was to play the german tier 9 BC. After that the FDG just felt downright unfun. Completely agree on UK CA, but I would also just say italian ships in general, poor firing range, poor accuracy, poor dpm just for SAP, just don't really seem to be a good trade until you reach top tier. Other than that also Nagato while not quiete as bad as colorado, it is nearly there IMO. Almost as slow, more or less same gun performance, but thankfully only two ships unlock from it instead of 3 like Colorado. Also the tier 8 and 9 US bb on vermont line are toothpullers IMO :)
I think FDG is fine. You don’t have to rush it. She still decent in OPs and that’s how you grind her to Prussian. Actually, I think Prussian is much worse than FDG. I don’t find it enjoyable as a Tier X ship. Izumo is horrible but I don’t hate it. Yes, I do think she is fun to play and quite Tanky if you don’t bloody Kite the ship. She is the only BB that doesn’t have 360 turrets despite the number 2 Turret have enough clearance to rotate 360s. Or better yet, make her basically Nelson turret set up. Instead of Myoko/Atago style. This buff will hugely improve Izumo playstyle as a whole and pretty much might be compete with Yamato. Yes, I don’t hate Izumo, actually I quite like her and have a good time before reaching Yamato. She is not a Kiting BB. Like seriously, she can’t Kite. Her rear is just one huge chunk of shell catchers. No argument on Italian BBs there. I don’t enjoy Roma very much so I just guessing that I won’t enjoy the rest of the line as well. British CA is a joke. It tries to be that Squishy IJN CAs but also making sure it has the hull size of a Battleship. Colorado is fine. I don’t hate it. Actually I do hate New Mexico, but not Colorado. Her guns feels much better than Nagato. Sure, she have bad speed but isn’t as bad as a lot of people think it is. You should have to get used to the speed by now, USN BBs have consistent speed from Tier III to VII, it’s a blessing in disguise tbh. Actually I like Colorado so much I am able to manage to unlock 3 Tier VIII US BB with only XP alone. I don’t want to reset the line because New Mexico. Yes, Colo is squishy but atleast it isn’t will start to combust when something shooting at it. I’m looking at you, New Mexico. Worst ships I’ve ever have ANY experience in the WOWs is a Harbin. Like seriously, this thing living up to its name. Remove the Har and you get this ship full experience. This thing love combustion when any ship stares at you. Sure, you have good concealment and good Torps. But tbh, I found more success on HTMS Chumporn than The Bin. Even Heals doesn’t save the ship, I do think, the heals is just more like a emotional support consumables than just a consumables. Making you feel better about it but in reality it doesn’t. Thank god the Tier IX Korean CL is much better ship.
only ship i stopped playing after 30-40k exp and you used free exp was the tier 9 french BB cant even remember the name (think my brain deleted that info to save me). That ship is made of cheap china plastic with the worst guns in the game. Izumo was very rough as well.
Although I haven't played it for year, can we add Mutsuki to that list? Playing Izumo were the dark times between Amagi and Yamato. The only good thing not skipping Izumo did for me was that I had saved enough FXP for the first Missouri.
FDG is not so bad when you get all upgrades , Izumo is fine ship with accurate guns ! , Veneto is not so bad , have SAP and you can go all the way with that and crawling smoke ! ... all cruiser in game can be pain to grind , as you have in mostcases paper armor , Colorado , yes that ship was pain to play few years ago when I started to play game , on Fault Line map , because if you take wrong turn you could miss battle I admit then I saved fxp to skip it ... oh tho I grinded line again on my second few months back , in ranked and I had fun on Colorado ! , I unlocked all T8 3 bb ... my advise grind T7-9 in ranked or in operations .
Well, FDG was horror as i grinded her line, but something this piece of crap did wonderful things like oneshots on cruisers with the first salvo, but then refused to hit anything smaller than the Mount Everest. Far better today. Izumo, oh lord, she was so sick to play. AP-shells overpenning if one or two found their target, always burning from HE spam, the dispersion was from hell. Now she`s a ship that`s fun to play. But as i grinded to Yamato, i took much Free XP and jumped to Yamato. Still grinding the italian BB`s, and there the tier 7 Carracciolo is the worst tier 7 BB i ever played. Vittorio Veneto is a star against her and fun to play. British cruisern... no, i don`t need them, still don`t have Minotaur. Colorado bad? What kind of drugs are you using 😉 i grinded the american BB`s in the Open Beta, and the Colorado was just far better than i could play her this times. But i learned much with her, and today i play her for fun. She`s that old wolf that can make younger wolfes panic. And in a standard battle, defending the homebase, she`s the fortress saying "you should not pass". The other slow tier 7 american BB`s are the same, they all can be great if you understand to play them. They all don`t eat much damage if you know your armor. And in tier 9 battles? They can perform good enough to be a threat for all ships showing a little too much broadside. One of the last battles with Colorado a Cossack B tried hard to torp me, but he couldn`t score a single hit on my old beast. Colorado is a might. Old, slow, but dangerous. And able to cock a snook at some DD`s when you sail her like a drunken monkey.
I hated the FDG, and but Izumo was my first T9 BB grind. It wasn't great but I didn't hate it. Wins were slightly better than sever avg, but dmg was MUCH higher. But, this was almost exactly 4 years ago, maybe it already had received the buffs?
Izumo is one of the best t9 (maybe not since Los Andes exists) and Colorado is one of the best BBs at its tier (BCs like Gneis, Scharn and renown doesn’t count).
Gneisenau is 100x worse than FDG. I don't think FDG is bad. Just not great in the current meta with long range HE spam. Colorado with speed flag and swift in silence skill isn't bad. When bottom tier it sucks, but that is true for most other ships too. My gripe is you have three tier 8 BBs branching from it, so it takes longer to gain elite status. Currently regrinding the IJN heavy cruisers. Slightly better than the Royal Navy CA line. But I remember now why I never play them.
For me worst grind was Monarch (pre-buff) and Lion. Poor armor, low penetration abilities and for Lion, accuracy wasn't much there. I did much better with Queen Elizabeth and especially King George V than with those two floating pinatas. Conqueror was (and still is) definitely worth it though
My favorite ships are tier 7 and 8. If I'm not grinding thats what I play for fun. Minus American BBs. I don't care for any of those. I have yet to really do the Japanese lines though. I think I have a tier 7 Japanese BB but my cruisers and DD are tier 6. Not sure why I just never got into them.
Colorado, the best usa BB for me. Can't play N.C., can't play Massa. Need 2500 gold for W. Virginia 44' and that's all I need. Tier7 is my max. level. In T10 i am just a little upgraded bot :/
God how I wish they'd make a TT version of the Florida, the proto NC with the 14" guns, and move the American BB split off of New Mex. Like the Fattleships get more gun count and get the 16" sooner (please, for the love of god, give them the T8 and T9 shells from the NC and the Iowa), but the fast BB line gets speed with a lower gun count and get their 16" guns later (T8, rather than T7). FdG is still bad. Izumo, when I did it was actually a high point in the IJN line for me, I hated the Fuso and Nagato, loved Knogo, Amagi, and Izumo. F**k the Pasta BB line! Seriously, give them AP/HE main guns and SAP secondaries, it'd fix them, along with a tighter sigma. RN CA line, eh... it's not that bad, the T8 is not fun, floating cit and all that, but the Drake and Goliath are pretty solid when the map works for you.
Idk the tier 8 to 10 from the British heavy cruisers didn't feel bad to me, u just have to play safe, like all other cruisers, cause overmatch is so shit to the game, even if u angle u take tons of damage but they felt decent to me, good concealment, great weapons and decent armor imo
Beside that, anyone else looking forward Stalker 2? VENETTO ist ein absoluter Schmerz im Arsch 😂 This ship in fact did cost me a new Mouse, back there 🤦😁 Upper Tier Italian BBs are quite okay.
Izumo is still mediocore today even with the buffs the accuracy is so mehhhh still even at close range i cant even cit a yoshino even with Heavy AP shells same with the azuma cant even pen lower tier battleships they dont even overpen most high tier cruisers they cant even penetrate or cit most of them ricohet izumo is so hard to angle without getting crossfired or citadeled randomly by a yamato or a satsuma il stick back with the Alsace
Your 4th pick totally agree with you with the Izumo but she still behind the Colorado and I spent 200,000 free XP to end the pain of having to play the ship
its not colorado alone. its also the dreadful succession of 3 near identical superdreads with imperceptible differences - new york, new mexico (which is disheartening) then colorado (deja vu, didn't we just leave this party?, oh god its exactly the same just the tier number went up, super discouraging, may as well give up). they need to give new mexico some gimmick, or colorado, just to make it noticeably different. just so you feel its getting better. then again, would that make north carolina seem less of a step up?
No Neptune? The first time I used Free XP was on Neptune. The Edinburgh is so fun and the Neptune randomly explodes (I know now it was good training for the Mino :-P) For the longest time I hated any Tier IX and this was long before Stupor ships.
The izumo is ok these days, i got to it a week ago, and well, quite good actually. And I'm not sure if I remembered it right, but did sea lord had a video a few months ago saying something about recommending the Goliath line for some strange reason I can't quite recall?hmm As for my experience, anything with a hipper hull is shit, don't know why, but they just felt hard to play
Says Colorado sucks: proceeds to annihilate the entire enemy flank.
Hahahahhaa!!!! I agree!!! Not a good choice for a video man, really made me wanna go sail her.
I mean the alternative would be watching gameplay where all the reds are on the other side of the map and it takes ten minutes to get them into gun range.
I actually liked Colorado. I'd say the t7 Italian bb and it's dispersion has been an objectively worse experience for me.
Just requires extra cautious light cruiser tactics.

went down the bungo line?
Haha, that sucks! That's 160k XP you'll never get back.
Bungo is pretty good though!
@@lordfrz9339 That is real unfortunate man
How do you make that mistake lolol?
Italian DD line needs an honorable mention for worst grind. Entire line has terrible concealment and bad torpedos.
I agree, I gave up on the Italian DDs.
for real
I'm at the T7 rn and have honestly not been having a bad time, though I often enjoy ships that everyone hates to play
The SAP is truly what saves the line - master consumable management and they’ll treat you well

The ship needs certain maps but can do really well.
ah ya Big Fred, i was so happy when i got it done. Then the GK became premium and i had to do it again.
The Japanese BB line is the only one where I can have someone give me a flat broadside at virtually point-blank range and only one shell hits.
The old Monarch was horrible to play through. After I had about 30k xp I didn’t want to play it anymore and used free xp to get to the lion
@@keeshommels2083 Yea the Monarch (And Lion imo) was just torture, and I had to deal with the Monarch BEFORE she got the superheal
I always thought the USS Seattle was a really big piece of garbage
I really just don't like cruisers. They're not fun, the play style required is just nerve wracking and agonizing. Cruisers are for the most part glass flame throwers with no range. Especially the light cruisers. U.S. cruisers have a stupid high free board, no armor, and a giant, weak, easy to hit citadel. I need to get through them, but I really dislike them.
@@LordEvan5 Agreed. Seattle can get citadeled from anywhere and the gun angles are horrendous.
I laughed out loud when you said the "whole line" was the British heavy cruisers. I have reset that line twice for the research bureau points.
That. And its name is very high up on the shitty names list too.
Udaloi was pain. She has a massive spike in concealment compared to the T10 and T8 without gaining much in return
the ending is just fantastic :)
3 ships in 3 minutes :)
I had a lot of fun with the Surrey. T8-9 was awful. Then you get Goliath and it’s amazing. I personally have found many t10 ships twice as good as their t9 counterparts.
Drakes fine, but Albemarle is pure pain. It's only saving grace is its torpedo angles.
@@Joshua-fi4ji after about three matches I’m the Albermale I just free exp’d my way past it.
@@ahemschmeyer don't blame you. I realised the guns and armour were both useless, so just focussed on ambushing BBs with the torps.
Despite it having the same hull, I quite enjoyed Cheshire - since it actually has useful guns.
Albemarle was dreadful, I really liked the Drake and the Goliath is one of my favorite Tech Tree CAs
@@Joshua-fi4jiand good AA
Glad the Brit CA's were mentioned, though Yumihari - Adatara - Bungo is my new most hated grind.
i was thinking about grinding bungo line, why was it so bad tho?
I think they are pretty decent, work like long distance sniper, they are the only ships that have catapult spotter plane provide accuracy buff
The secret for the FDG and Izumo is to play as a long range kite! It sounds stupid but it works with hilarious results!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Colorado is fine.
I started playing around the British Cruisers event in 2020. Got to the Abermarle. Got no further.
The Colorado was really bad back in 2014. The grind was very painful.
Absolutely. The Colorado isn't really bad. And it teaches you to position.
10 years ago the worst grind was between the Colorado to North Carolina
Back then you had no boasters and less XP per game and I could not afford premium time.
The thing I remember about the FTG was the big bbs with no torps, Unlike the German bb grind for Schieffelin
I nominate the Cerberus line. It's literally "but british CAs exist"
The entire American Slow battleship line and the Italians.
I liked the FDG, I had a Blatt a few years ago
I played WoWs on launch and, when i got to the Izumo, i stopped playing for 2 years or so. I thought i was doing something really wrong and gave up.
I can’t believe the Italian destroyers didn’t make the list.
No, you are not exegerating about the FDG, I can confirm the shell dispersion was terrible back ib the day....
Atleast Colorado can hit things, try the New Mexico😄.
I absolutely loved the FDG.
I would say the Colorado isn't a bad ship, it's just hard to play, some of my best games have been games where it just wrecked. It unfortunately is a ship that needs things to go your way. You need help when playing it and you need to get good shots on the enemy.
this just made me glad that i saved up the free xp to just skip the izumo and go to the yamato
I actualy like Izumo,
though to be fair I only knew it in the latest version, I imagine the previous version could have been a misery close to colorado.
German BC is way way more enjoyable
I honestly kinda like the Veneto, first match i ever played i did 150k+ while bottom tiered in a stock Veneto
British Heavy Cruisers is one i won't ever regrind.
Man, Colorado is cool ship!
Wish WG would give you a trial run for a ship you research. Say 3 battles and you can refund it.
Seattle and Venneto.... Only ships were i went, nope not worth it!
I actually like my Colorado. I will agree with Orisose that the Dutch grind is terrible, though I think the Pan-European DD grind is the worst.
I’m not enjoying the Orange at all. The t7-8 we fun.
I did the same with the FDG!! 😂
I personally much prefer geneisenau over fdg. At least now a days, I prefer tier 7 matchmaking
@@Joey_Liu For tier 7 German ships, Scharnhorst and AL Prinz Heinrich are much better.
I ground my FDG in asym's, was fun there lol
My favorite ships are tier 7 and 8. If I'm not grinding thats what I play for fun. Minus American BBs. I don't care for any of those. I have yet to really do the Japanese lines though. I think I have a tier 7 Japanese BB but my cruisers and DD are tier 6. Not sure why I just never got into them.
Colorado, the best usa BB for me. Can't play N.C., can't play Massa.
Need 2500 gold for W. Virginia 44' and that's all I need.
Tier7 is my max. level. In T10 i am just a little upgraded bot :/
I gave up at T8 British heavy so squishy 😊
If worth doing a video. Can you do one on what “grinding” a tech line actually is and what it means?
Also San Martin line
Complete disagree about Der Grosse, Izumo and Veneto
VENETTO ist ein absoluter Schmerz im Arsch 😂
This ship in fact did cost me a new Mouse, back there 🤦😁
Upper Tier Italian BBs are quite okay.
Izumo is still mediocore today even with the buffs the accuracy is so mehhhh still even at close range i cant even cit a yoshino even with Heavy AP shells same with the azuma cant even pen lower tier battleships they dont even overpen most high tier cruisers they cant even penetrate or cit most of them ricohet izumo is so hard to angle without getting crossfired or citadeled randomly by a yamato or a satsuma il stick back with the Alsace
i used to play british ca to grind rb, it's not that bad
I love Colorado❤
Zeiten... absolutely horrible.
agree on all.
Range ain’t all that. I don’t both with it on Italian BBs or DDs
FDG isn’t that bad. It’s just a t9 so It sucks against t11.
YAMATO is worst Grind for me wish i choose Germany USA or UK....
Awfully quiet on the topic of Japanese heavy cruisers…
5 and 4 irrelevant to today's game. Rest were good picks.
I hate pobeda soo much
Your 4th pick totally agree with you with the Izumo but she still behind the Colorado and I spent 200,000 free XP to end the pain of having to play the ship
its not colorado alone. its also the dreadful succession of 3 near identical superdreads with imperceptible differences - new york, new mexico (which is disheartening) then colorado (deja vu, didn't we just leave this party?, oh god its exactly the same just the tier number went up, super discouraging, may as well give up). they need to give new mexico some gimmick, or colorado, just to make it noticeably different. just so you feel its getting better. then again, would that make north carolina seem less of a step up?
The Colorado just isn't that bad. Honestly, the North Carolina is harder to be successful in.
And I'm not sure if I remembered it right, but did sea lord had a video a few months ago saying something about recommending the Goliath line for some strange reason I can't quite recall?hmm
As for my experience, anything with a hipper hull is shit, don't know why, but they just felt hard to play
So many heavy cruisers have a little bit improved armor, harder chance to citadel but still you give minimal margin to error
Like I said in the video, the grind sucks, but imo the Goliath is worth it
Colorado
Grinding out three T8s in this slow SoB is pain.
EDIT: Called it before watching.
Kansas is honestly just as bad, which makes the grind even worse.
American battleships. Everyone tells noobs to do that first. Because theyre the only ones dumb enough to do it 😂
