Mine just arrived. It is a great looking reel. I do own several Calcutta TE DC’s but not the Calcutta BFS. They are definitely more refined than the DK100 but I’ve been enjoying this reel immensely. It is 100% worth the low price in the link. If you like round reels, this one is a must and it came with a really cool 1 1/2in swim bait as a bonus.
If anyone is curious, I bought the kkr spool for my dk100 when I found out the spools were compatible and it works great in the reel. I have only been able to test cast so far but hopefully soon I can get it out fishing. Oh I did buy the engraved version off Ali and it's worth the little extra money, it looks great!
Biggest difference for me was the star drag. The dk100 has an oversized star drag thats amazing for one handed reeling but its a bit wobbly. I'm wondering if there is some kind of washer or shim to tighten it up a bit. Either way, amazing reel for $133.
When you get around to it, it would be interesting to know if the gears are swappable between the reel. If Shimano Gears in the DK100 make it glassy smooth like the Conquest, that might be a worthwhile upgrade. I really wish the makers of the DK100 figured out a way to remove about 1oz of weight from the reel. If it was super light like the Loongze that would be amazing, especially since it is a BFS reel.
The DK100 I got is 98% as smooth as my conquest and I can really only feel the difference from my desk chair. Practically speaking on the water, I don't even notice it. My guess is that you would have to swap both the main drive gear and the pinion gear and would cost about $60 after shipping. IMO just enjoy the $130 reel =).
I have both and because the DK 100 really impressed me (which means it stays in my arsenal), I changed the spool and side plate bearing (hybrid ceramic bearings) and gave it some classic wooden round knobs. The difference caused by the bearing change was quite noticeable. Maybe I will change the spool in the future…
Hi, I got the gold DK100. You mentioned the handle can be changed. What handle would work? It's not the same as the Calcutta Conquest BFS. I want to change out the handle on my DK100. Any suggestions and link for a different handle?
Just got my right hand model , I think it's got the upgraded level wind shimming thing worked out very smooth one of the only reels I don't disassemble to rework even drag fills greased ahh just kidding it's coming apart the spool thing is a bonus.
Did you tried to swap the side plates of these two reels? It's a right vs a lefty, shouldn't be able to. Spool wise, there's no direction thus the swap ability.

DK100 cheaper but I still had to go with the Shimano Calcutta. Reel of a lifetime! Why go cheap! Let’s go!
Good and smart choice 👌✨

Is there a deep spool available for it? I fish some remote places where I’d rather carry a second spool than a second reel
