- After six rounds of seven point matches, Henri Pollet and Patrick De Wilde both had won 5. This is the grand final of the tournament. It was projected on a big screen where everyone could watch and kibitz. The time control is bronstein system, with 12 minutes in the bank and 12 seconds per move. Henri Pollet is on the left, and Patrick De Wilde on the right.
The tournament took place in Leuven in Belgium

Henri, the player on the left, had less than 20% probability of winning the game at that point. He was right to pass. This is based on a computer analysis which uses heuristics, so feel free to disagree.

What 4:44 mean?
Continuation with double the prize or withdrawal
Player 2 is so confident that they will win that they're willing to bet 2 points for the round
If Player 1 accept the bet, they will put the doubling cube by their side and whoever wins the round will win 2 points
If Player 1 refuse the bet, Player 2 instantly win the round with 1 point ( the value of the bet dividen by 2)
Third option, Player 1 can raise the bet to 4 (then 8, then 16 etc..), now the decision is on Player 2 to accept the counter bet or not.

He's offering to double the stakes of the game. The player on the left refused both times so the player on the right instantly wins.
Can they offer to double at any point? It would seem unfair to try and double it in the late game.
@@chrisknowlton2865 One is always allowed to double before rolling the dice at the start of the turn.
@@chrisknowlton2865 late doubles are allowed to speed up play---players behind are likely to accept the loss for one point rather than two, and the doubling cube allows a player ahead to avoid a bad beat, possibly preventing them for playing for a gammon, so quicker games.

This game is possibly the most dull game ever. Whats up with the dice thrower and the slow process. They are really bad...

I'm surprised the player on the left folded on the first round; it looked just a little imbalanced when the double was offered.

Min 8.06 when he played that 1 inside the base instead of covering the 6 literally make me puke. Im 18 and i brush my teeth with these players

What does it mean when that right guy suddenly sets the big dice on the board? Is her fortefeiing?

@@tfries72 The doubling cube doubles the points so instead of winning 1 game it would be 2 games and the 4, 8 etc. You normally offer the double when you are at an advantage but try and do it so the opponent may take it and so boost your score - if you win.

bar/4 , 2/4 for 4-2
I can't give detailed reasons. I just find these plays more solid than actual plays. You have to let a program calculate the equities to find out if I'm right.

No entiendo...acaso no se gana el juego cuando retiras todas tus fichas..del tablero..?? Que alguien me explique...
Asi es . Gana quien saque todas las fichas, pero aca estan jugan por puntos, el jugador de la derecha le dobla la apuestade puntos por que esta mejor posicionado, el de la isquierda rechasa doblar, y entonces termina con un punto el de la derecha. No se a cuantos puntos estan jugando esta final... 5, 9 ,11 etc.
