Mochy you are the greatest backgammon player I am a big fan of yours I have watched almost all your matches and I try to play your style and I succeed you are my great teacher number one ❤️
@@bgmochy I was also hoping for him to leave a blot to make the match more interesting. Your winning chances are (to me) surprisingly high that whole game- you were a favorite with 5 checkers back (!). I have a lot left to learn about backgammon and I enjoy watching you play.
In your last video I praised Mochy for having a great PR and he told me luck had an effect on it. This video proves him wrong. Mochy outplayed his opponent with a better PR even though his opponent was super lucky only confirming that Mochy is perhaps the best backgammon player to ever live.
That's not what he meant. He meant that he was lucky enough to run into positions that he was familiar enough with that he was able to play below his average PR.
@@mackenzieusher8025 my point being that he is skilled enough to handle nearly every situation thrown at him. He's a very humble person and I'm glad he is a good person but I thought it was funny he tried to pass his PR as luck when he clearly displayed how good he is.
@@hosseinpaknahad6284 I thought it was only a reroll if the die came to a stop on a checker or leaning against one. In this case the die just rolled across a checker but landed flat on the board.
I can't believe the last game😐🤦♂️he never left a single shot! He was super lucky😑 I'm sure if you run the same situation 100 times you will leave at least one shot in 99 games😂
They simply have too much time. When was the last time you saw ANYBODY losing because of the expired time? It makes no sense. Of the initial 26 minutes, you had 23 minutes and 48 seconds left on your clock. That means that you needed only 2 minutes and 12 seconds of your "Real" time to play. 2 minutes for each game (18 minutes for a 9 games to win) and only 6 second of "Free" time.
Correction: Mochy only had 5 minutes left - for him, that's a lot, often he only has 20 seconds! Nevzat is a fast player; well he IS Turkish 🙂. People sometimes lose on time, I've seen it happen. Here they had 2 mins per point time bank. Some tournaments now only have 1.30, and that is tight, especially if you have to do a lot of calculations and hard moves!
It's used in serious backgammon since about 1920 - it shows that one player has offered to raise the value of the game to 2x whatever points are scored in THAT GAME. The player who has accepted (rather than pass, giving opponent 1 point, and start next game) has the option, if he thinks the game has turned in his favour, to offer a redouble to 4 later in this game, before he rolls his dice. Check out - plenty of videos about this, e.g. Marc Olsen from Galaxy.
Interestingly, in the recent UBC final against Dirk Schiemann Mochy didn't want the players to make PR plays which add extra decisions without impacting the result. I believe it was referred to as the "gentleman rule". However, here in this match when PR is irrelevant he does exactly that in the game when he is sure to lose a G but plays on to get the BG decision.
It's just glade from a really strong light. Watch 8:42 in x0.25 speed and youll see it gradually disappears as Nevzat's hand hovers over the timer, blocking the light source.
See answer above: In game 1, Mochy was in a position where he would win 68%, including about 40 gammons: he offered to double, Nevzat knew it was too risky so he passed, 1-0. Next game, the cube was accepted, so with a simple win it was worth 2 points - so 3-0 to Mochy. Using the cube is difficult - it needs much study to understand the percentages and match-score differences. Marc Olsen and others have good books on this, e.g. "Cube like a Boss".

Oh yes, in THIS match Nevzat had most of the luck, I think it was decisive. But he is still a pretty good player - not as good as Mochy. Both have been world champ, Mochy twice plus UBC champ
Too boring of a play style. Too many take backs. This is not chess. Some moves have same percentages and still overthinking. Your style stops the flow of the game really. A great game becomes boring.

Great video as usual Mochy.
I'm a novice. Why did the match end at 11 wins instead of 13?
Now I see it. A backgammon!
Nevzat: Double 6, Double 4 this is how the World Champion Roll :)
a backgammon at the very end, wow
Good game, good players and very instructive 👍👍👍
Great video and match. But I really dislike the metal checkers... brrrr
If dice on checkers are OK, then why is it not ok for a die to fall on the left side of the board if it lies flat and is easy to read?
I don't like die on checker, but it's all just convention anyway. Phil Simborg once said that he plays die on floor with his brothers lol.
listen carefully 1:32 where Mochy asks Nevzat if die on checker is fine

In backgammon it is possible that a match gets stuck, and there is a tie
For me as a GO- and Chessplayer this is just brutal to watch
Why is that?
how in the frack do these guys play in championship.
56:21 What is the old man in the back doing? :D
I'd like to say "well played, japan" but, no there were some questionable moves
Does anybody knows where BG comes from?
A modified version of checkers. It's hard to see the resemblance today, but that's how it started.

what brand board is this that they are playing on?
I think it's the one promoted by Phil Simborg - P40?
I know one guy is undefeated he smash everybody
how is the brand of the board called?
The brand of this board is a P-40. Gotta love the metallic sound when checkers collide!
Why at 7:36 5/2 5/1 is preffered play, instead of 6/2 4/1?
Considering big double like 5x5 or 6x6
Maybe he didn't read Michy's book on endgames! I chose 6/2 4/1 🙂
What does that cube with the 2 mean?
