- Featured is the sharp chess game between Gukesh D and Ding Liren from the 2023 Tata Steel Masters. The opening is a Queen's Indian Defense with 4...Ba6. Ding Liren's 16th move sparks a significant change of landscape, one where the bishop pair thrives. Gukesh resists for several moves in the middlegame, but Ding Liren and his dark-squared bishop in particular proves to be king of the board.

GM Ding Liren at his best could defeat many elite top Grandmasters.
Unfortunately, he has been going through tough times in his life since winning the world championship. It's sad vast majority of chess fans don't recognise that. I wish him all the best in defending the title.
Yes,ding is awesome, just have a bad day in early 2024
It's ok. Ding vs gukesh is 2-0=1 for Ding..both wins were at tata 2023 and tata 2024 for Ding. Gukesh got crushed both times.
And the 2024 win was during Dings "bad form" after winning WC title. So ding even during bad form still beat Gukesh..
Wow, what a beautiful game by Ding.
Listening to Jerry discuss positional chess is just so enjoyable haha
Ding is so good at finding unexpected moves that require deep calculation and making them work. Always a masterpiece when that happens
f5 was especially nice 👍
I really wish you showed what happens when taking the bishop with the knight for a while
He put more of a narrative spin on his analysis this time. At least it felt that way to me. Been a fan of Jerry’s work here for many years. This one just didn’t seem as objective to me though.
Pretty sure you are talking about move 29 if Nxd4, gxf3 and the knight on d4 is trapped plus you now have the e2 and g2 squares. On move 30 if Nxd4 you could just go cxd4 and get a passed pawn but it might just be Rxd4 and and whites bishop is struggling so much Re2 is so scary of an idea that holds true I'd think for the later posistions as well. I have no idea if my analysis is eight if some nerd can correct me that would be cool!
I got notification about this video from Google news not UA-cam 😊
Jerry the chosen one😅
I also got this notification from Google news 😅
Same!
Same
Still the best game analysis vids on UA-cam ❤
Ding's brilliancy moves are so powerful I feel like I'm getting hit by an uppercut from nowhere this guy sees things that only he can see man
Pretty sweet game. I don't know what the clock situation looked like but I imagine that played a factor in gukesh not resigning earlier. I mean I would have resigned probably around move 33. I will say this, I'm usually pretty good at the Guess the move portions of these videos, not in this one. I don't know if I'm just off my game a little bit or if these moves were just really that hard to see. Probably a little of both
This game is really hard to understand, even when you know the moves and their computer evaluation.
It was very close and could’ve gone any number of ways until the very last couple of moves when Ding capitalized on his superior position. Gukesh played with far too much hesitation and suffered for it.
That was some classic ding. i hope we see more of that in the upcoming match. thanks Jerry.
Ding at his peak is unbeatable ... hope he recover well and we see a nice battle ...
No 1 is unbeatable!
Someone can be unbeaten ...but not unbeatable
Shut the hell up
Now there's the Ding who crushes his opponents brilliantly.
Looking forward to watching it, thanks for the video Jerry!
Beautiful game to showcase what a bishop pair is capable of. People form their opinion based on just this game . Let me tell you Gukesh is a hungry lion. He has many things as advantage like ke he has 6minths to prepare and we saw what his preparationns can do in the candidates. 2. He is a pure classical player so he will thrive in a 6 hour long game.
I honestly had Gukesh ranked somewhere around Alireza and Vidit, for example, prior to the Candidates. Thought he was one of many 2700-2800 GMs. But I now see that he is different. I agree with you that he will most likely be the next world champion.
I can see him getting thrashed by Ding
Nice game by Ding with lots of elegant moves like 5Bb4+ 6Bd2. Thinking about how to put the opponent pieces on bad squares.
Ding is an artist
Great analysis! What a fun game that shows the sharpness and accuracy of Ding Liren. Gukesh was 16 years old at the time? And even then he was showing his strength. I am very excited to see this clash of stoic gentlemanly titans. My heart is rooting for Gukesh, but I want to see the best that Liren has to offer. Novermber will be an exciting month!
Great game, thanks for posting 🤩.
Wauv, what a smooth game. I'm impressed when the game ends decisive, and yet with no obvious blunder. It's still not clear to me what mistake gukesh made.
It may have been that Nc5 was overlooked or underestimated. It lead to an environment where the bishop pair thrives.
If Ding is at his best he can play like stockfish... but it depends on his own situations😢
Really appreciate your content. Thanks.
Jerry guess what, I just got my first smothered mate. I can see why you like them. Fun stuff.
On with the video!
Congrats 💪😎
Thank you! Go Ding go! He rope-a-doped Nepo so memorably - super
Excited to see how he does against Gukesh!!
A truly brilliant game.
Thank you Jerry, for commentating this beautiful game.
classy game , thanks
When is his final match?
So it was pretty much even all game and Gukesh played a little too reactive. Big lesson learned in the Candidates maybe was to play more assertively because he’s capable.
Looks like you're spot on with this comment
he's also more than a year older so probably much stronger already
Amazing game. Thanks, Jerry!
Thank you Carlos. 😎
Exciting game. I hope to see Ding again playing 1-class chess.
Symphonic analysis for a top class chess. Great selection everytime thank you.
This will be an awesome WC match!
Jerry thanks for the great coverage. Well, Gukesh is on fire these days. Would be tamed by Magnus though, if there was a title clash
Thx Jerry 😊
When this match happens what’s the date ?
2023 tata steel masters. in description
@@JerryReyes thanks
both players have their advantage , ding have experience but he is old also he was fed up of chess and wanted to quit it , gukesh lacks experience but he is young he have vishy anand on his side . whoever wins but chess will win that is guaranteed
You think Ding is old? You must be a teenager.
Nice ...making an excuse
@@cptnoremac well as compared to gukesh he is twice his age .
@@user-jn7bq8wh1e its not a excuse when its a fact
@@gj4769 ok😅 if I say so...
I remember those bullies who used to say sh!t like ..." U r lucky ur brother is around...or else"
Just makes me feel the fear!
What happens after bishop to f5?
Which move?
Damn title haha got baited
nothing wrong with title..
Gukesh is playing Better Chess nowadays and people have been ready to bury Ding for quite awhile since he won the championship his play has been so bad out of jealousy now people want to support Ding vs Gukesh that makes me laugh I hope Ding does play some Great Chess defending he’s going to have to because I have no doubt Gukesh is coming for his and he has Great Determination to do it
Use a fucking punctuation mark. Jesus, your comments are such a chore to read. It makes you look like an angry child who says the whole thing in one breath, which is probably not far from the truth.
@@cptnoremacI see you commenting everywhere on everyone 😂 trying to show yourself a smartass?
@@cptnoremac read Gabriel Garcia Marquez novels and you'll be cured from any punctuation ( one sentence = 5 pages)
@@vgamerul4617 Sounds painful.
Gukesh hasn't even managed a draw against Ding before, including this year. Pretending he's not the favorite is silly.
Fantastic commentary Jerry.
A beaut Jer. !
Gukesh will crush Ding
It's "Gukesh", bud
@@udaykadam5455 typo, sorry
Why can't you cope?
Gukesh hasn't even gotten a draw again Ding in classical time controls. He had the white pieces every time they played too. At the highest level if you can't even draw with white you're clearly the underdog.
Ding vs gukesh is 2-0=1 for Ding..both wins were at tata 2023 and tata 2024 for Ding. Gukesh got crushed both times.
And the 2024 win was during Dings "bad form" after winning WC title.
Maybe Gukesh can win one game first before talking.
Analysis is calm cool . But most Americans commentary is like football commentary loud fast . It's tough to concentrate.
Ding is a bist 😊😊😊
Hi everyone it’s Jerry
A ding at his best will demolish gukesh. Not sure if we will see his best though unfortunately
But would Gukesh at his best demolish Ding?
You underestimate Gukesh like you probably did at the beginning of Candidates Gukesh is the perfect opponent for Ding I like Gukesh’s chances a lot
a Ding at his best. Oh boy. This is going to be a long wait for the championship with a lot of Ding fans talking him up I bet. Not much substance to talk about, unfortunately, despite Jerry’s efforts in this video analysis to make Ding seem like a wizard. He’s just another ratings inflated “super GM” like we saw in the Candidates. Gukesh is a 17 year old with a brilliant mind for chess. I’m team Gukesh.
😊😊😮😮@@michaelmassaro4375
@@LukeLongboneOfficialyou know Ding is the world champion right?
the Ding is not dead long live the Ding
Year ago gukesh is 16? Gukesh was struggling a lot last year, he's matured and developed. He was blowing a lot when he was top seed. Gukesh is extremely hard worker and is now brilliant. Even Carlsen was surprised.
Carlsen got surprised by many players to see the unexpected but that's the game he is always prepared for and he tames others well.
He also crushed Gukesh with the black pieces this year. Whatever difference you think exists doesn't seem to be showing up in his results.
Ok the real match is in November
already???
This is an old game
As if only ding can have its best ...wait and watch.
Are all Indians this easily butthurt? Calm down, dude. Nobody's insulting you personally here.
@@cptnoremac why are you so reactive seeing random comments 😂 and who is the real snowflake?
@@atkrby I wonder if you realize the irony of your comment. I'll give you a minute to figure it out.
@@cptnoremac I really don't know how these insufferable people start arriving at Jerry's channel. It was not like this years ago.
Bro ding's average is someone's best, I don't understand your comment.
Hey Jerry, please dont spoil the result in the title for next one ;))
Nice vid though
Spoil? It's over a year old
@@ballskin Yeah, but most people haven't seen it, so some of us would like to be surprised by the ending.
Dukesh in his peak vs Gukesh in his Peak(now) who will win?
Answer: Gukesh demolishes ding
Hard to say. But we'll see at the present Elos soon.
Maybe ding will call magnus as his second
But Gukesh will defeat Ding in the Championship match 2024.
He's never even gotten a draw against Ding, even with the white pieces. He's clearly got a lot of work to do to make the match interesting.
Ding is really out of shape. Though the match history IS interesting. Maybe Ding is has a good matchup Vs Gukesh? It has been historically documented that sometimes player performance varies depending on who they play, resulting in 'a beats b, b beats c, c beats a' scenarios.
Indian's are disliking the title ....
Stop you nonsense Indian's .this is not a tournament analysis this a UA-cam channel. The Title is perfect
You are fucked up
The current title is "Ding Liren defeats Gukesh D with the Queen's Indian", which I can't see any issue with, was the title different earlier?
Why Magnus isnt playing world cup?
according to him ''because he is not enjoying it''
Wait, what? FIDE just held the World Cup last year, and Magnus won it all. Is this new news that he won't play next time?
@@GrislyAtoms12 Magnus played last WCC in 2021 vs Nepo, after 2023 Candidates when Nepo qualified again for WCC match Magnus decided not to defend his title and that meant that second player in Candidates will play against Nepo in WCC and it was Ding. Magnus played Blitz and Rapid WCC and won them both in 2023.
He has ascended to GOD level, he doesn't want to plant at legend level😂
@@paulleroux386 Hi and thank you kindly for your reply. Pleae don't take this the wrong way, but I follow the WCC closely and am aware of all of these things you mentioned. Instead, I was asking about the FIDE World Cup, not FIDE World Chess Championship.
Just as FIFA has a World Cup every 4 years, FIDE also holds a world cup. Every 2 years, I think. Do you think Caesarnr93 meant "World Chess Championship" but wrote "world cup" accidentally?
Title has no year
Why tf would put that title bruh ?!? Common
(No hate but, wth)
I like your videos, but that title was misleading. You don't need these tricks to get your audience
Misleading title.
why??
no? he is sharing an interesting game between two topical players. his regular viewers know this is an older game, since they won't play each other until the WC match
Misleading
Fakeeeee
Ding Dong. Fake video. Irrelevant now. Guki is stronger than what he was one year ago. And he has beaten and won amongst the strongest ever rated players in candidates such as hika, fabi, alireza and nepo. Ding Dong today wont stand a chance. Stop ur BS misleading click bait videos.
You are the most incompetent person I've ever heard
So any of Jerry's videos where anyone beats anyone from more that 1 year ago is irrelevant now?
I think you are missing that Ding is no slouch, his rating atm is higher than Gukesh's
This was an authentic game, bro. Fact is that Ding beat Gukesh twice in Tata Steel. One in 2023 and one in 2024. For WCC, my prediction is that Gukesh won't stand a chance. Ding and Fabi are the only two players on this planet with ability to give Magnus Carlsen trouble. Gukesh is yet another Indian monkey-alike kid player who dream of beating Ding who is three levels above. Ding will beat Gukesh with self-pin 2.0 or self-pin based on deep learning. : )
cope
Ding dong diminish other players, gukesh does have young blood but ding dong will tame it anyway.
Wtf is that title. Disliked .
Fu for that title, unsubscribed.
