The wild one blockhead is the first tamiya kit I’ve bought in 33 years!!! Huge tamiya fan just from nostalgia - used to play with/ all old one grasshopper, frog, blackfoot, wild one, hot shot etc… but never actually bought one since until now (mostly buying associated and other brands). If Kyosho releases the turbo optima mid that will be my first kyosho in 33 years!! waiting on that one.
thanks for your comment. Well good choice with he Wild One Blockhead Motors buggy. Its a great looking buggy. I'm really looking forward to getting this out for some fun. I believe Kyosho will be rereleasing the Optima Mid, not the Turbo... Regardless, I'm excited for that one too... I really wish team associated would rerelease something.... Maybe the RC10t...
The best part is the advice about the fingers haha! Great pointers and I really enjoyed watching this-I can definitely tell you're excited and it's making me excited about it as well! I feel the same about the wing decals, still torn if I should hide it or not. Oh well.
Just unboxed mine from the mid 80's this was the car that made me competitive, prior I raced a hornet. Total different cars for local off road track. The RC20's were the king of the track, but I was a poor lawn mowing kid so went Tamiya. Loved that car.
@@RCRetro try putting an “A” after the model number when you search. They issued a new model number when they had to make the change to substitute in the HW ESC.
One thing I found is that the bearing fit in the counter gear is poor - the bearings actually swim in their bores instead of it being a light press fit. The end result is a poor running and binding gearbox. Any similar experience?
I have not ran mine. I have not heard anyone mention this issue in the RC community. I hope that you able to fix the issue and get it running smoothly.
@@RCRetro I bought two additional gear sets as spares and to complete my old Wild One. They have the same problem. Because I saw no decent way to fix it I decided to run it as is and so far it seems to run fine with no obvious noise or anything. The original gear sets did have the proper fit though, it is obvious that this is a quality issue. It's easy to spot because the bearings will obviously fall out of the bores when the gear is lifted but I can imagine not too many people will pay serious attention to this during the build.
Hi. Like the look of that buggy. Reminds me of the old VW buggy's back in the day. I'm thinking about getting my first Tamiya kit to race as a beginner at the local of road track . Just for fun. I'm thinking of getting the dt 03 neo fighter .What do you think? Hay also saw the pic. of the gold pan be hied you . That was my first R/C car . if i knew what I know now , then I would still have it!
I've been meaning to try that. What do you use, a spray bottle with soapy water? Dove or Palmolive? Then, spray the back of the sticker and apply.. then position it and hit it with a heat gun?
@@RCRetro soapy water in a plate. Any dish soap. Dip the decal under the water, apply, move into position, push our the water and wipe with paper towel.
@@RCRetro pretty much. It's still pending but not sure when the next shipment will arrive. I did get the 45th anniversary porsche which i ordered at the same time. I do like the turbo scorpion but still want a blockhead wild one.
The elf gave me a wild one original I also wish I had this one even though they're not making replacement parts of this so if you have to replace parts of that you have to use some of them from the original and chrome plate them in some way with paint.
Being that you made us believe you was going to run and then changed your mind at the last minute, I feel like you've made a fool of us all, unnecessary and below the belt
I brought this blockhead and man it’s awesome!
I did paint my chassis blue to match and super pleased I did

Glad you enjoyed the video.
Love it my friend!!! Keep up the great work! ☝️
Thank you.
Great video. Well paced, good pointers. Thanks Ari. Looking forward to seeing it run.

Great looking buggy. Can’t wait to see it out on the track
I heard that if you put a Kyosho Mega Motor in one of these.....time will actually go backwards when you go in the reverse direction.....
Amazing Buggy. Good guide. Cant wait for the driving video. Thumbs up! Hopefully some day I will get one myself 😎
That was super fun, love the kit
Great car and awesome video. Thanks for sharing the highlights and your thoughts.
That turned out great! STILL waiting on mine, been on pre-order for what feels like forever. Maybe one day! 😁👍
Such a great looking car.. waiting for mine to arrive.. great build
Hard not to love that scale look.
I drive with my eyes closed too. Especially on the Long Island Expressway
Lovely looking buggy! 👌
Still no news on the reissue orginal Wild One arriving in the UK. It's gone missing with no ETA :(
Bummer... I don't even see the Wild One for pre sale on any of the big online RC distributors in the US.

😁👍It's a BEAUTY!
Looks great!

Looking forward to the track video. Are you going to race it on one of the race nights this year?
I would like to. Harry and Sten both have one as well. A lot of Wild One Blockheads will be out there during race night.
@@RCRetro commentary will be epic since nobody will have any clue who is who.
Definitely one of Tamiya's sexiest models...🤌🤌
Great video!
Wild one ! Nice
Are these made in Japan or China.
The track will probably be dry sometine in may haha
Fast Eddy bearings.. crap. Just got my Wild One BH and started to build it, pretty nice one :)
When it comes to stickers I still use the soapy water trick.

I pre-ordered one but Tower let me down. I had to settle for getting a Turbo Scorpion instead.
Sorry to hear that. What happened? They didn't fulfill your order the 1st time around?

Don’t think mine will ever come out of the box. Now if/when the regular version appears, that will.
Not even build it?
With the pile of normal builds I have waiting, probably not. But I won’t say there’s no chance lol.
hey maybe the pirate could do a build some day
