I'm on 189 cycles after 9 months. 93% maximum capacity. Really happy with this thing though. I've had many macs in the last 10 years and only 1 or 2 I've been as happy with as this one.
My battery has been draining so fast the last couple months, went from 100% to 89% with 128 Cycle count in like the last 3 months of use. I've had it since December. I've had a weird thing happen to it, where I left it charging with the magsafe charger for like 3 days because I didn't use it and when I came to use it, it was burning hot and didn't turn on until I let it cool down a bit and that was the time where it went down to 99% and continued dropping
dude im at 80 cycle count bought it end of August. i do be letting it drain tho. guess that is not good. max capacity is it at 98% does this mean i should just keep it plugged when im not using battery
Hey Alex, for the battery stuff I recommend AlDente, which allows you to do the whole power managment yourself. I keep mine on 80% when I am plugged in to the screens at home! Hope it helps.
Congrats on 100k and thanks for all the Apple silicon videos. They helped me decide on a base 14" M1 MBP which felt like a steal on sale for $1600. Amazing daily driver for dev life. I'm docked 90% of the time but the 14" is incredibly portable the other 10%. Two months post-Windows and no regrets.
Regarding the battery: If you keep this thing plugged in and charged to 100% all the time, the battery will die rather quickly. Install something like aldente and keep it to max 80%, and only charge it to 100 if you really need it. It's common knowledge. Apple "sort of" does this already with optimized charging turned on. All EVs charge to 80% max by default, requiring an override to go to 100%, many even showing a warning saying something like "don't do this, unless you need the range".
Great video as usual. Keeping always the battery to 100% is not a good idea. You can use a tool like AlDente to limit the charging to 80% or something.

People rarely realise that but keeping your laptop constantly plugged can and does degrade your battery faster than if it was charded outside usage hours.
Couldn’t agree more. 🙌🏼 I’ve been rocking my M1 Max MBP for data analytics and have been loving it. Have to use parallels for a couple windows only apps, but besides that I can use it natively for everything else. Oh and I think I used my magsafe charger like twice 😂😂
I have a question relating to the data analytics field as I am interested in pursuing that career. Do you use a whole lot of math involved with your data analytics job? Thanx in advance!
Does your dock give your MacBook all of the juice it needs, especially when you are doing "real work"? I've read that it's better to use MagSafe as it's guaranteed to fully power your MacBook, whereas some docks/USB-C chargers don't putting more strain on the battery. Not sure if this is true though. Maybe this is why your capacity is down to 87%?
100% agree with you. I felt like the quality of MB pro went downhill after 2012 non retina model… till the 2021 14/16” rose to the top of the food chain.
Best thing about this MacBook is the battery, screen and the speakers. It’s the first laptop I’ve used where I don’t have volume at max while playing music because it sounds great. HDR content can get VERY bright.
I am not completely sure what is going on with your charge cycles vs max. capacity! I have a 14" MBP bought on release last year and a similar use case (work from home software dev with occasional coffee shop working) - I have 79 charge cycles but I am still 100% capacity. The only difference I can think of is that I use the bundled magsafe charger - could it be that on periods of peak load your dock passthrough charger can't provide enough power and you start to use the battery a little?
16" M1Max MBP 32 GB Ram and 2 TB SSD here with 1 year of daily use (7-8 hrs a day). Developer + IT support for work. Cycle Count 15 and Maximum Capacity 100% for me.
Thank you, Alex. That was a very different exposé of the M1 MacBook Pro to others I’ve seen. Great content! I appreciate all that information. I’m about to buy a 16” M1 MacBook Pro to replace my 9-yr-old 13” MacBook Air - it’s had 2 water spills over the years, and still going, just the battery is getting tired and can’t be replaced here in Australia. Amazing integrity, these machines!
I am in the same situation, just apparently 11 months later. I just got a 16" M1 Pro. Hopefully I made the right call as the new M3s just came out. I replaced the battery of my Air with one I found on Ebay. It was never the same, though, it gives me 2 hours tops! and sometimes it will die suddently. I decided to move on and get a new laptop :) How has it worked for you so faR?
@@crunchchannel8788 Hi, I’m at 2 minds about my 16” M1 MBP - though, I did buy a refurbished model (Apple is sooooo expensive in Australia). The screen is great, the speakers are fabulous. The fans have rarely ever engaged at all, and when they did, they were very quiet, hardly noticeable. The webcam is weird, as many people have commented about the new Apple computers - it sort of makes the skin look a bit pasty like an avatar (but I still look super-narrow on the webcam! Not great for me!) But I frankly (and sadly) prefer my old Mid-2013 MacBook Air for actual hands-on work. Was the best computer I’ve ever owned, since 1986. I’m finding with the keys merging with their surrounds on the keyboard (as with all MBPros), I’m getting extra characters popping up on the screen now. (I’m not a great typist anymore). And I’m struggling with this trackpad. I don’t understand the advantage of the deep click (I felt it too much in my shoulder so shut it off), and sometimes the cursor doesn’t disengage and things are sliding all over the screen, with files opening everywhere. I’ve tried all sorts of adjustments, but not happy yet, after almost a year. I do some web design work, and I’m usually a whizz with the trackpad - I don’t like using a mouse (my fingers are faster than my wrist - musician). But this is so hard. I cannot feel any click under my thumb while my fingers are zooming around with the graphics. So I’m pressing too hard…. But not everyone will be using a trackpad like this. So I might try the Genius Bar for help now. But i think it’s just the new design. The M1 iMac I tried first was the same with the magic trackpad (sent back). Mind you, it is blazingly fast at calculating the astronomical positions of over 24,700 asteroids AND sorting them in zodiac order!! So, for my work and research, that’s great. But I am struggling with just how many apps and things I normally use that won’t work on Silicon, including my beloved (2016) 96K Apogee MiC. So, it’s a mixed reaction from me! I hope you’re doing well with yours. Some of my work is just too specialised, I think.
In terms of the battery. Your are right, it's because of 100% battery charging (and using it plugged-in). I'm using my MacbookPro 16 M1 Max for about 5 months and my capacity 100% (13 cycle counts). But I'm using AlDente Free 1.19 (you can take a Pro version as well). I have added charge limit to 50%, so once 50% reached - charging stopped and I'm using macbook via adapter. 30-50% of charging is ideal for li-ion battery. In cases when I need to use macbook unplugged, I just charging it to 100% and using it without power adapter.
Now ask yourself why does Apple not allow for setting the max charging limit natively - answer because they know you'll have to pay them to replace the battery or get a new laptop. I had an MBP where I had to replace battery 3 times during its 6year lifetime, due to it getting swollen. I kept it plugged in all the time sitting at 100% charge and it used to run a couple of 4k screens - meaning a lot of heat build up. It was cheaper to replace the battery but the cost was still outrageous since these batteries are glued in.
Definitely I agree with you. My cycles count is 98 and my battery health is 100%. I haven't dropped the battery below 30% since I got the computer. I don't let it stay more than 1 day at 100% full. I've been using aldente for a long time and I usually set it to 70%.
@@berkehankucukaras really cool! By the way I have the same flow with iPhone. Unfortunately iPhone doesn't have any solution to control the charge limits, but I'm trying to keep it between 80-20% of battery and after almost 3 years iPhone 11 Pro still has 100% battery capacity. It's not an easiest way for a consumer but if you want to keep your battery healthy - very good way to go.
Frequent charging-s between 80-100% take a major toll on Lithium-Ion batteries. It's the topping off that they don't like and it's where they get forced and heat up. This happens to everyone that mostly keeps their laptops docked in. You can either limit the charging to 75-80% when plugged in, or plug out when reaching 80%. So far I haven't found a charge % limiter on Macbooks. Dells have it in the BIOS and Win tools.
154 cycles at 97% capacity. I've had it for almost 90 days but I'm a power user. I run Ubuntu on parallels, docker, xcode simulator, android studio, slack, git kraken and vs code. I live on an island so the climate is pretty hot but I try to keep the pc cool. Heat is the main cause of battery degradation and also constantly keeping the charge above 80%. I try to unplug around 75% and start charging around 20%, I also want to try keeping it plugged in with software that will keep the charge percentage around 50%
Due to my work I'm surrounded by 30+ Apple Silicon Macbooks and I've noticed a pattern of increased battery loss for colleagues using high wattage chargers. Users charging with the 67w charger put a lot less stress on their batteries than those using the 140w or 96w chargers with a similar cycle count it would seem. As always users should try to limit the amount of time the batteries spend at 100% too, I use Al Dente to limit the battery to 75% charge and tell the software to charge to full if I know I'm going to be out all day. Although with the ARM chipsets you still get insane usage time out of a 75% charge.
Congratulations on 100k subs Alex! Been watching your videos since day 1 and 0 subscribers and I can safely say you deserve every single subscriber and here's to 1 million! 🥂
5:57 that's because batteries HATE being at 80+% or below 20%, I suggest AlDente (open source) with it you can cap how much % should be charged. I set mine to 50% and my battery sits at 42 cycles and 99% capacity after a year.
It's because you have your Monitor charging your MacBook is why the battery is deteriorating faster. I realised this after hooking up my 2017 MacBook pro and charging it via USBC also connected to my monitor; the battery was fine, until I started charging and using it via an External Monitor. It now recommends I get it serviced. It's better to run off HDMI and to charge it periodically. Better to be safe than sorry. They can say that it will only charge up to 80%, I think it's BS. Keeping your phone charged in and running off the external power is not a good idea. Imagine keeping your phone charged in constantly, It WILL deteriorate the battery, it's physics.
It could be because I'm now used to the M1 Mac MBP 16 and Mac Studio M1 Ultra but the M2 MBA now feels sluggish at times, like when you first turn it on from standby. It surprised me as I was using the M1 MacBook Air as a replacement to an i9 16" for a long time and loved it.
Always great listening to you. What is a bit irritating, is the number of pop sounds coming from these icons. I noticed once I was just listening without looking. But just a minor .... Cheers!
Hey @AZisk using the MagSafe adapter will prolong the health of your MacBook battery. I noticed this with some other users who only use USB-C vs MagSafe. Might be worth considering to use that MagSafe adapter, regardless of which MacBook is used.
1 Year and 125 cycles on my watch. The capacity is still at 99%. But I use AlDente to keep my Battery on 55% when its plugged in, maybe this has quite an impact
the biggest thing that keeps me from getting the 16 inch is the track pad is way to big and gets in the way alot and no number pad on the keyboard is a huge downer
the maximum battery capacity looks like a bug to me. my m1 Mac Air got down to 87% a year back with about 112 cycles. it is still at 87% now with 210 cycles.
I run my 16 MBP M1 PRO in clamshell mode on my desk at home and it always stays super cool. I love the massive screen for coding and long battery life on the road. I would never dream of running my Intel MBP in clamshell mode for fear of melting the LCD screen!
There is an app called Aldente in which you can keep the Mac from charging over a set percentage, lets say 70. This not only prevents the batter from topping up all the time when plugged in but also makes the battery not sit at a 100% charge all the time what is not good for your battery.
On my M1 MacBook Air (bought it the day it got available) I have 145 cycles on the battery and 94% maximum capacity . I can feel that it doesn’t last as long as in the first months , but it’s definately better then any other x86 laptop
Back to your experience on your flight with the 16 inch… Would you say that it would still be great to have if you’re strictly bringing it to watch downloaded movies during a 10 hour flight? I need a bigger screen for me and my girlfriend to watch 😅
Great video but the arguement about charger using up a usb-c port on intel macbook pro doesn't make sense. There used to be 4 usb-c ports on the intel macbook pros and new ones only have 3. So, even if one of the 4 is used in charging, you still have the same number of usb-c ports left.
You have 87% of capacity because you are charging your MacBook via USB-C cable that is connected to the monitor, so macbook is being charged, but with uncertified charge adapter and as i remember your monitor providing only 60W or 75W and macbook required much higher. I was facing this problem with my MacBook Pro 2017, when i used with LG 4k monitor, my capacity reduced so fast, so i prefer to charge with original adapter
I really love having more ports on the 14" M1Max MBP. The one thing I would like though is USB-A port for iOS dev. I have zero regrets getting 14" mbp. I rarely use my macbook air.

LG Ultrafine charging is killing your battery. Many people described it and I noticed it when I came back to my MacBook after a day and it was all warm, i.e. charging! No fix till now, other than when you plug in the original brick, it will automatically switch to that and the problem disappears. Beats the fun of docking though.
I have been using Macbook Pro 14" 32 RAM 1 TB SSD for a year. Battery cycle count is 270 and health is %88. I am a heavy user. I am not using MagSafe too because my monitor has USB type C charging. I am not concerned about my battery cycle count because the battery lasting is still outstanding.
Alex, the reason why your battery is showing 87% is because Apple's own Battery Health Management tool is limiting how much your battery can be charged. It does this to prolong the life of the battery. Your battery isn't a dud and its real capacity is likely somewhere in the 90s. You could disable this in Intel Macs but unfortunately you cannot in Apple Silicon Macs.
I have the same issue the battery health going to 87% with a low cycle account; I talked to apple customer service, and they replaced a new battery for me. Hope this will help.
I got the same battery issue with my Air M1 that I owner for a year - 86% health. With my 14 inch M1 I use an app to prevent the battery from exceeding 80% pretty much all the time. So far after 4 months the battery health is still at 100%. I'm not sure the battery management software from Apple is aggressive enough with preventing battery degradation.
I heard a lot of people complaining about he battery health who use it the smae way..aleays plugged in..try to use aldente apo to not allow more than 80-90% charge or just plug out
I'm a Flutter Developer. I use my 16" M1 Pro for around 2 months a battery cycle is 94, and the capability is 99%. I start working from 8am to 2am and charge 2 times a day.
Cool video. One small critique I have is that ‘pop’ sound accompanying the logos etc being so loud that I’m _compelled_ instinctively to look for what’s been added; it’s just more of an audio cue than it perhaps needs to be, moreover the same sound again as it disappears seems a tad like overkill… thanks all the same.
I think the new(ish) feature for optimized charging only pauses the charging at 80% for a little bit. It will eventually charge to 100%. This whole feature is meant to analyse your 'charging habits' and then guess when you usually unplug it and than just pause the charging at 80% for a while. My macbook is not even a year old and I just noticed its 96% already... my older macbook battery did definitely not degrade that fast...
If you're using it plugged in most of the time, or just have weird habits that Optimised Battery Charging can't learn, you can turn it off and use Al Dente for manual control. I limit charge to 75% unless I know I'm going to need more.
Ah, the battery is degrading fast because you’re leaving it 100% all the time 😅 There’s a utility called AlDente that allows you to set a custom charge limit. Worth using that next time 🙏
I use it too and it’s worth the money. Especially when you use an external monitor and keep it plugged in all the time. It’s like the Tesla battery software which lets you set a maximum battery percentage. I leave mine on 80%.
Great video as usual. Could you please make a video on which dock to use for dual monitor setup for mac. Most of the docks from Amazon say they support mirror mode but not extended mode. My goal is to setup dual monitors in extended mode from a single dock
M1 Max 16” inch is a fantastic machine, just prohibitively expensive for the top tier. A decade ago I got the top line 15” MacBook Pro for $2,600 (AUD). Now it’s more than double that. So I’m incredibly fortunate and privileged to have this machine. Fantastic screen, cleans easily with a normal tissue and eyeglass cleaner (apple’s water + microfibre cloth recommendation is a trap!), the speakers are just nuts good… as I own a stereo setup using 50 year old JBL studio monitors, and several nice headphones, this laptop does something unnaturally beautiful with its speakers. Processing power is nuts good, I just don’t have to think about juggling tasks in any order, just do whatever and have it all open! So, if you buy the top tier MacBook M1Max, you get supreme power and amenities in such a small package (big screen, sure, but the machine feels tiny once you realise all it can do. I enjoyed this review, really honest and sincere. I love having MagSafe but have failed to utilise it unless traveling outside my desk. Bear in mind, only very good quality C hubs / T4 hubs can power the M1Max 16” as efficiently as MagSafe 140w. And I find throttling an issue on lower battery levels using 90w USB C charge hub. MagSafe allows optimal performance, and you can still use the hub function of USB C and take advantage of auxiliary peripheral power. Smart design. USB C is also a universal solution, super handy if you lose your charger on the road and need to pickup a generic USB C charger.
I went with an M1 Pro 14 inch simply for traveling and fitting within a plane seat. I extensively use external monitors so the added screen real estate was less an issue.
Not really surprised that your battery is already down to 87% after you said that it's pretty much charged all the time by the dock. Keeping a battery at 100% constantly is just not healthy for the battery.
After going through multiple stupid Apple chargers I decided to charge my MacBook Air 11” 2012 with a uGreen GaN X 3 port charger with a USB c MagSafe adapter. That was a mistake. I used it without a problem for a month until I decided to charge my phone at the same time. Then the laptop charging icon started toggling fast and a minute or two later it died. I was really proud of my 10 year old 2012 MacBook Air running fine, macOS Monterey doing Xcode etc. Now I’m hoping I can get it fixed.
I have the M1 MacBook Pro and I don’t use it like you but I charge it to 100%, unplug and don’t charge again until it hits 30%. After 2 years, battery health is at 94%.
Also about a year of usage. Same thing with 140w standard charger😅. I have completely switched to 65w Baseus charger, which has 3 ports and also much lighter and smaller.
My 16" MBP M1 Pro is also almost 1 year old and have like 96% battery capacity BUT I've almost never moved it from my desk. Also worth to mention, my MagSafe cable and power brick are not even unpacked ;)
Maybe you don't use its own charger and use the dock instead. I was wondering if the if that takes toll on battery health, and later in the video my doubt was near to truth.
i have a 2019 macbook pro .I had it for three years and it started giving me trouble but i never cleaned the thing so once the fans the main culprit and some other bits were cleaned it worked just fine almost as good as new .The problem is that apple make repairing these things difficult .You need special tools The way everything is arranged make it hard to get it opened up and then cleaned safely.Normally i would take it to apple but i have a friend who is good at this sort of thing so she did it.For many years Apple have got into trouble for making it harder and harder to repair their devices but recently they have had to at least pay some lip service to the notion of making these things easier to service. But many pc manufacturers are better at this.I still have my 2019 macbook pro and it is still working well .I will replace it in about a years time but as long as it continues to work well i will not be in any great hurry to lay out well over 2 grand for a new machine that will probably be impossible to repair by myself. So look after you mack book and service it at least once a year.try and keep expensive gear for up to five years max .Four years min.
I got mine the first weekend they were available. Cycle count 50. Condition Normal. Maximum capacity 100%. Only dock I’ve plugged mine into was studio monitor. Otherwise, it goes on the 140w MagSafe.

Tim Cook just responded to an investor question that the product lineup was set for holiday 2022, suggesting no m2 pro or max this year. This is supported by supply chain rumors pointing to 2023 availability. Might be a little while longer for new 14" and 16" mbp's!
I disabled ProMotion on my 16" and set it to a fixed 60Hz instead. The eye-strain / head-aches went away in a day or two after that. Yes, I miss the fluidity, especially since I have dual 165Hz monitors for my gaming rig, but my eyes couldn't take it for some reason.
I just recently bought macbook m1 pro for my job it was amazing when compiling big codebase android native and flutter project without worrying about battery when it's unplugged. The performance is crushed my other laptop which is a windows laptop with ryzen 7 5800h and rtx 3060 in it.
the 87% battery health after a year is VERY concerning. At 80 ypu can go service the battery. Did you say you were running this plugged in to some dock most of the time ? If so, that probably explains it. Docks are notorious for killig battery health. With regards to the battery saver mechanism: mine drops the battery to 80 percent after like 2 or 3 days of being plugged in (macbook pro m1 14 inch 10 core cpu / 16 gpu). Also I only use the original charger it came with via magsafe. Battery still 100 percent health. You gotta be careful with those docks.
@@AZisk good thing is Apple will replace the battery for about 60 pounds / dollar / euro. (that was the price I paid in the UK for replacing the battery in a 2014 15 inch Macbook Pro. Btw. this is a dillema for me.. should I leave it plugged in and prhaps do a descharge to 50 percent and charge back to full once in a while ? 100% agree with you. I felt like the quality of MB pro went downhill after 2012 non retina model… till the 2021 14/16” rose to the top of the food chain.
I got the base 14” and it is the best purchase I had in tech years
Best thing about this MacBook is the battery, screen and the speakers.
About the battery percentage, i use the app aldente to cap the charging at 80% to preseve the battery
I decided to move on and get a new laptop :)
How has it worked for you so faR?
@@crunchchannel8788
Hi, I’m at 2 minds about my 16” M1 MBP - though, I did buy a refurbished model (Apple is sooooo expensive in Australia).
Not great for me!)
But I frankly (and sadly) prefer my old Mid-2013 MacBook Air for actual hands-on work.
@@neetop1557 I don't see any problem to install AlDente and have the super healthy battery for a long period of time :)
You can use Al Dente to limit charge
The battery thing is huge. My Intel MacBook Pro was four years old and would die in two hours of light to moderate use
Imagine keeping your phone charged in constantly, It WILL deteriorate the battery, it's physics.
why does the battery charge > 80%? shouldn't it be limited to 80% charge when plugged into the power socket>
Sorry for the stupid question but I am new to MacOS. How can I access this AlDente thing for locking the battery charge. Is this an app?
the biggest thing that keeps me from getting the 16 inch is the track pad is way to big and gets in the way alot and no number pad on the keyboard is a huge downer
the maximum battery capacity looks like a bug to me. my m1 Mac Air got down to 87% a year back with about 112 cycles. it is still at 87% now with 210 cycles.
I run my 16 MBP M1 PRO in clamshell mode on my desk at home and it always stays super cool. I love the massive screen for coding and long battery life on the road. I would never dream of running my Intel MBP in clamshell mode for fear of melting the LCD screen!
Your contents regarding Mac machines helped me to decide which model I needed. Now I’m saving my money for MacBook Pro 16 with 16GB RAM. Thanks to you
16 Gb of ram in 2022 ... how much cringe Apple ?
Yes.
@@gregandark8571 As a web developer 16GB is more than enough for me I suppose
Or wait for 15 inch MacBook air
I upgraded from a mid 2015 MacBook Pro 15 inch to the 2021 M1pro MacBook Pro 16 inch. This machine is always sooo cool, never heard the fan spin
I wouldn't worry about the battery. It only costs $100 to replace every 3-5 years. Too insignificant a problem.
There is an app called Aldente in which you can keep the Mac from charging over a set percentage, lets say 70. This not only prevents the batter from topping up all the time when plugged in but also makes the battery not sit at a 100% charge all the time what is not good for your battery.
What a fantastic and straight-forward review!!!
I like the múltiple camera angles i definitely see you implementing more design into your language. Keep it going sir. Very good quality. ❤
It drives me crazy. :D
Absolutely, hands down, the best laptop I've ever used (and I've owned a bunch of other laptops over the last 20 years)
You have 87% of capacity because you are charging your MacBook via USB-C cable that is connected to the monitor, so macbook is being charged, but with uncertified charge adapter and as i remember your monitor providing only 60W or 75W and macbook required much higher.

Your battery might be buggered from using it docked a lot. I like to run 'aldente' so I can discharge the battery while my macbook is plugged in.
Small thank you for these videos. Keep it up!
I am not concerned about my battery cycle count because the battery lasting is still outstanding.
you nailed it when you mentioned Electron based apps or the swap memory. Good stuff. Thanks for sharing
Try to reboot your laptop with the button and check the battery health again, sometimes that indicator can be tricky
I have the exact same battery health on my 2-year-old MBA M1 with about 300 battery cycles. There's definitely something wrong over there...
After 2 years, my M1 13 inch MBP has 247 cycles, 91% battery health. Love it. For work, it has replaced my desktop, which is old, but still.
I have a mid 2010 Imac 27 the only reason that I m replacing with a MBp 16 is because the software is not longer update.
I got the same battery issue with my Air M1 that I owner for a year - 86% health. With my 14 inch M1 I use an app to prevent the battery from exceeding 80% pretty much all the time. So far after 4 months the battery health is still at 100%. I'm not sure the battery management software from Apple is aggressive enough with preventing battery degradation.
could you share the app name?

Health only 87% after 85 Cycles, is this normal? After 7 months, my MacBook M1 Max show 94% and 33 cycles.
Cool video. One small critique I have is that ‘pop’ sound accompanying the logos etc being so loud that I’m _compelled_ instinctively to look for what’s been added; it’s just more of an audio cue than it perhaps needs to be, moreover the same sound again as it disappears seems a tad like overkill… thanks all the same.
editing mishap. trying to address this in future vids. thanks
my macbook air 2017, still rocking🤘
Ah, the battery is degrading fast because you’re leaving it 100% all the time 😅
There’s a utility called AlDente that allows you to set a custom charge limit. Worth using that next time 🙏
Could please share a link or something? I would like to check this out. Thanks.
I use it too and it’s worth the money. Especially when you use an external monitor and keep it plugged in all the time. It’s like the Tesla battery software which lets you set a maximum battery percentage. I leave mine on 80%.
After seeing battery health being dropped to 94%, I installed a battery tool with “brew install battery”. This tool supports only charging up to 80%.
As an audio enthusiast, Absolutely loved the audio of this video. Great Videos as well. could you tell your audio geers please
Congratulations on 100k 🎉

Great video as usual. Could you please make a video on which dock to use for dual monitor setup for mac. Most of the docks from Amazon say they support mirror mode but not extended mode. My goal is to setup dual monitors in extended mode from a single dock
i put links to the docks i use in the description. no problem extending
Keeping it plugged in and fully charged all the time will do that to the battery
Keeping a laptop at 100% tend to degrade the battery. I used a laptop as desktop replacement years back - after 2y, battery was basically dead.
My intel Air 2018 bought in 2019 refurbished after one year battery went to 87% three years now it is still 87% .....so take that for what it is...
My I9 MacBook only gives me 4 hours of web browsing, it's kinda a pain in the ass for outdoor use.
Have the same macbook pro and I never have used the original charger or the magsafe cable
very optimistical guy - told as the piece of aluminum is fine it, at apple there is a lot of shortcomings but I yet do not see also for myself alternative !!
Great video ! I have the M1 Pro loaded and love it (2023) 14 inch as it’s easy to travel with .
Tim Cook just responded to an investor question that the product lineup was set for holiday 2022, suggesting no m2 pro or max this year. This is supported by supply chain rumors pointing to 2023 availability. Might be a little while longer for new 14" and 16" mbp's!
Alex, did you notice any eye strain during prolonged use? These screens are not flicker-free...
I disabled ProMotion on my 16" and set it to a fixed 60Hz instead. The eye-strain / head-aches went away in a day or two after that. Yes, I miss the fluidity, especially since I have dual 165Hz monitors for my gaming rig, but my eyes couldn't take it for some reason.

the 87% battery health after a year is VERY concerning. You gotta be careful with those docks.
p.s. I got mine in June this year
yeah maybe it’s the dock’s fault (which means it’s really my fault).
