Good luck on 20k subscribers , it is hugely deserved and hopefully very soon . The most informed and intelligent yet funny , kind and interesting self confessed perfume geek out there . 😊
Great video! I appreciate the honest reviews you provide and the vigorous discussion in the live chat. Nishane is a polarizing house, and this was an excellent overview of the "X" releases. Thank you!
So much antagony for Nishane in this episode! Honestly, I was not impressed by the X series. I feel like they took the originals and removed their spines. True that Nishane hasn’t done anything revolutionary for niche fragrance, but they are fantastic at crafting a composition. Ani is one of my favorite all-time fragrances and I think Cecile Zarokian is brilliant.
You should definitely try Ambra Calabria, it smells delicious. True story: I love Ambra Calabria, but it being rather pricey for everyday use I was looking for some more affordable options. My search led me to Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Mandarin Basilic and that in turn lead me to your chanel. That was just a few short weeks ago. Been slowly going through your episodes since. Plenty left to get me through winter though 😁
They've had some nice, interesting scents, I even picked up a couple, but ended up selling them for some reason. Their "time capsule" and "X" collections certainly moves them closer to Xerjoff and PdM.
Thanks for your honest review. I usually really appreciate Cecile Zarokian's creations (Epic Woman, Tango, Material...to name a few) but Ani is not a love for me. It smells a bit screechy to my nose and I don't like the way the vanilla "plays" with the green facet. Too synthetic. Not harmonious enough. Some compare it to Angélique Noire but it's nothing alike to me. The latter being much more refined and subtle. I smelled some Nishane perfumes in London when the brand had just being launched, no hype then. I remember liking Hundred Silent Ways but not being impressed overall by the fragrances. This brand is like so many other niche brands today. It's trying too hard to please a certain crowd, to do very loud perfumes. It's a bit of an overkill for me...and not perfume anymore to be honest but closer to bug spray (the very lethal kind).
The original Ani reminds me of both Atelier des Ors Lune Feline and MFK's Grand Soir in terms how it made me feel. it's polished and modern in its own way and I felt I should like it automatically (I am a vanillic fiend), but somehow it doesn't grab me. I haven't quite pin down the reason why but I don't think it's the lack of contrast...there's something quite ho hum about it. But there are many people who love it. So something for everyone.
I couldn’t possibly comment as to which Vanilla perfume claims the title of best vanilla ever, but Ani is a lovely vanilla with more than enough going on to elevate it well up there with some of the best Vanilla scents around. Haven’t tried the ‘x’ version, however.
I’m always on the brink of liking Ani, but there’s something restless about it, and within an hour I wish I’d chosen a different scent for the day. Good of you to brave this set.
Sorry I missed the live stream. I have Hundred Silent Ways (OG) and find it lovely and sweet. It sounds from your reasoned and educate viewpoints that most of the X-traits are more obnoxious I.e. Burning down the house.
Your “Hmmm, ok….ok, hmmmmm” is a perfect schoolteacher vibe for “next time, perfumers, do your homework and maybe you’ll get higher marks.” The disappointment in mediocrity was so palpable in that moment 😂
Finally, someone said it. I'm sick of hyping mediocre perfumes. Hacivat was introduced like it was the greatest creations ever made. Actually to my nose it's a pungent men's cologne. And also why is everyone craving to smell like just eaten a kg of baklava? Crazy.
Original Ani is a love of mine. It reminds me of a very old smell which I can’t place. Not yet smelt Ani X. I also really like Nanshe… several others are ok (I’ve managed to try a lot of them over the last year)…Ege was one that was a bit strong but had some promise too. I must retry now it’s late spring in NZ.
@@Persolaise another CZ frag. Soft and powdered and warm yet somehow water coloured and fresh. It’s more if a personal scent. I have had a few compliments at work on it and it’s one that doesn’t get much attention :)
I have to agree that Ambra Calabria is the best of all Nishane fragrances although it is not hyped like the others. However, I think all the others are over/hyped and Ho-hum, but that is just my humble opinion..
Although I have never tried any of the “X” fragrances from Nishane, I thought the concept of renewing and renaming the fragrances with an X was redundant and unnecessary. If they had no new inspiration for something new, just let it be, but thenl, again, that is just my humble opinion.
"You look like a Hotel de Chocolat costumer being forced to eat a milk tray"-that comment, did made me laugh. Nishane X is just not exciting for me. The scents is way too much and try hard, so loud and obnoxious. Ani as the best vanilla perfume ever. Um, ok, I have smelled other vanilla perfumes, that are way better (Diptyque's Eau Duelle, comes to mind), but I'm not a vanilla person at all, so what do I know. The price tags is hilarious to me along with the descriptions for the perfumes.

That's so kind -- thank you. 20k... here we come!

That’s very kind, Sharon. Thank you.

It seems that most people who have tried both prefer the originals to the X range.

Ah, that's so wonderful. Thanks for letting me know.
I do enjoy Ani, its a very fun-loving addictive vanilla, perfect for colder night-outs. Love the ginger-vanilla combo in that one.
Good to know -- thank you.

You can see why the loudness of some brands is prompting others to go totally the other way.
Thanks for watching.

Interesting. Sometimes, some scents just don't 'click' with us, do they?
This was a fun video! Cheers, Mr. P.

I really should seek out the original.

'Restless' is a wonderful description for a perfume.
Sorry I missed the live stream. I have Hundred Silent Ways (OG) and find it lovely and sweet. It sounds from your reasoned and educate viewpoints that most of the X-traits are more obnoxious I.e. Burning down the house.
I should try to seek out the originals one day soon.
Your “Hmmm, ok….ok, hmmmmm” is a perfect schoolteacher vibe for “next time, perfumers, do your homework and maybe you’ll get higher marks.” The disappointment in mediocrity was so palpable in that moment 😂
I wasn’t overly impressed!
Many thanks for watching.

Well... each to their own, I guess. I can't say I'm a massive fan.
Thanks for watching.

I wonder if Nanshe was the one I was taken with.

I have A hundred silent ways OG which l Layer with Hacivat which they suggest, which l like.
Enjoy wearing them.
I haven’t tried any of the X series, however, of the few that I have, the only one that resonated with me is Nefs. Quite beautiful.
Thanks very much for watching.

It'll be interesting to see how this collection does.
Slightly off topic…
But wondering re recommendations between bewitching Yasmine and Chanel coromandel… wondering which to go for
In such situation, I always say: go with the one you prefer personally.
@@Persolaise I ve never seen either… just going for something new
Nishane is a lot less designerish smelling compared to Parfums de Marley. I own only Hundred Silent Ways (regula version) and I truly love it.
That's good to know. Thanks for watching.
It's un4tunate that the 'long - suffering Mr Persolaise' never smelled the originals, and it's un4tunate that we are not gonna have a comparison! 😮
Thanks very much for watching.
Is Ani X very different from the original?
I'll let someone else answer, as my knowledge of the original isn't great.
The best parts of the original Ani were removed in the x version, thus making it less interesting, in my opinion.
I haven't smelled the others.
Ah, interesting. This makes me more determined to seek out the original.

Thanks very much for watching. Personally, there are other vanilla perfumes I prefer.
Ani pronounced Arni at my local purfumary
Thank you.
