- Aired sometime in 1992-93 between the end of Series 1 and the beginning of Series 2. Contains some behind-the-scenes features.
Couldn't find this anywhere on UA-cam already, so thought I'd put it up.
Now this really is GOLD DUST to all Gladiators Fans!
How appropriate since the show will be celebrating it's 25th anniversary next year in 2022 in the month of October!

Have you seen his interview with James English? His persona was humble and exactly how you described. I prefer to block out his criminal life and just remember him for being one of the best gladiators!!!

Shame Flame, Hawk and Sandy Young didn't realise how little time they had left with the show at this point. :( They seemed so nice, too. :(
Flame and Hawk weren't big personalities like some of the others. Phoenix was though, the story goes she was dropped because she wasn't tough enough to beat. Not sure that was justified, she definitely looked the part and she was brilliant on the show.
@@dantootill I listened to a Gladpod feed some months back where Jet and these "superfans" of Gladiators interview various people who were involved with the show, and I was surprised when Sandra Young said that she felt like she didn't have the weight and power to be able to physically pull contenders off the wall, so there might be something to that "wasn't tough enough to beat" rationale that you've heard!!! Although I remember reading in one of my Gladiator fact files books that she thought of herself as a tough cookie with some kind of martial arts background which she said she had, and I remember reading a news story which stated that one time, her and her boyfriend beat up one of her ex lovers for some reason or other!!! Since I read that, I always thought of her as being kind of scary and aggressive!!!! Plus, there was another article I read from more recent times, where she talked about her breast being hurt as she was being arrested by police, maybe implying that she resisted arrest!!!! And I liked Flame!! I liked her feistiness when she gritted her teeth when she was hit after the whistle at the end of their duel bout. :P
@@STEJTHEGREATEST For what it's worth, I met her briefly as a kid and she seemed really nice. She should have got at least another series in my opinion, definitely one of the more memorable gladiators even though she wasn't in the show for long.
@@dantootill Ya, it was totally immoral of Nigel Lythgoe to cut them, even though the show was clearly onto a winning formula, and would've continued at the same growth rate the following year, even with all the original Gladiators, I think!!! And if Lythgoe was so adamant about getting new Gladiators, they could've always only just taken on Nightshade and Hunter in addition to the original 12 starting from series two, since Nightshade and Hunter were probably the two most important ones out of the 5 new ones introduced in series 2, since I could've imagined Nigel thinking that maybe having all 12 originals, plus the five new ones bringing the total to 17 meaning that there was too many Gladiators to pay, maybe!!!!! And it was especially rotten how the three Gladiators who got cut before the second series had to find out from the newspapers!!!! Talk about a heartbreaking start to the day!!! :( I mean, they all looked so happy, and in total enjoyment of their Gladiatorial roles!

Seeing Scorpio rip that dirty rotten cheat Nicola Bawden off The Wall was beyond satisfying.
But was it really cheating if it wasn’t in the rules?
From what I remember, John Anderson said on the Into The Arena tape that while he agreed excessive grease was used after he reviewed the event after Scorpio complained about it, there was no actual rule prohibiting it at that time, hence the reason Nicola got to keep her points.
@@nateward9592 It showed a complete lack of sportsmanship on Nicola's part. Later on that first show she faced Panther on Duel and all she did was defend without fighting back and there were audible boos from the audience.

I remember the segments and the Gladiators tune “gladiators are here to show, how to work your body like a dynamo”! Was Coco Beach in Barbados?
