- Converted from VHS to digital. Don't have an exact airing of this show but but best guess is December 22, 1990. I get asked frequently if I have any more episodes of American Gladiators. I have this one and dated September 1992 ( • American Gladiators Se... ) and that is all I have. Sorry
I will NEVER forget American Gladiators!
American Gladiators was my generation's American Ninja Warrior. Except the obstacles were juiced-out human steroid freaks, instead of a salmon ladder.
You're actually very truthful on that. Dan "Nitro" Clark admitted as much a few years ago.
I was 3 laying in my grandparents bed watching this late at night..
DarylAddison87 why?
Christian B exciting to look at
you know. even if these ended up on something like netflix.. It just wouldn't be the same without these old commercials. Thanks for the nostalgia bombs :D
The first season's episodes (some of them, anyway) are accessible for streaming on Hulu.
Thanks for the upload and the memories. I love as a bonus the old school NES commercials are here as well lol.
I know. The Double Dragon II and NARC commercials are awesome. I had Double Dragon II. Still do, in fact.
I think that was the BEST season: 1990 👏 👏 👏 Nitro, Gemini, Laser, Turbo, Thunder, Ice, Lace, Gold, Diamond and Blaze 👊
Sadly, Mike Adamle now has dementia stemming from his past history of concussions during his NFL career and subsequent epileptic seizures. His doctors informed him that his symptoms are consistent with that of CTE and that he's believed to be the first living case of CTE, a common ailment that former football players and other athletes are diagnosed with after passing on.
He was forced to retire from WMAQ-TV in Chicago several years ago due to dementia. He can no longer work or drive and keeps a fanny pack on him at all times with an ID, his keys, and phone in case he gets lost.
I always loved the first season that Erika "Diamond" Andersch debuted as she looked beautiful in her outfit, and whenever I heard her speak, that German heritage could really be noticed.
As for here with the Assault event, good thing referee Larry Thompson and the spotters were there so if a Gladiator or contender was wounded as bad as Dwayne was, they could call off the match and get the trainers/medics in there to check the injury at once.
OMG! Thank you for posting this! Great memories! (The included commercials were great--I'm from STL, so even more memories!) My best friend and I would stay up late on Saturday nights to watch, then talk about it in school on Monday morning. My mom even got us 2nd row, midfield tickets when the tour came through. Love! Love! Love!
will good sportsmanship like this ever exist in my life time again as it did in this
Wonderful work, cheesyvideo! Thank you for posting another great episode of the American Gladiators.
Again, whatever episodes or clips that you manage to find and are able to upload, it will always be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Man this brings back so many memories Saturday nights me downstairs watching all of the original episodes on the new TNN
Yup I'm showing my age. I used to watch this on my local NBC station at 7 p.m. Then they put it to 1 a.m. in the final seasons after SNL. It sucked but I did follow it just the same. I just wished TNN would have shown the complete International Gladiators competition instead of a select few.
@@newstarcadefan WUAB in Cleveland ran it around noontime Saturdays toward the end, I think.
@@drewzuhosky6826 Right, I remember WOIO showed the Gladiators for a brief time at 7 p.m. (if it wasn't pre-empted by college football).
@@newstarcadefan Why did WFMJ move _American Gladiators_ to late nights, anyway?
@@drewzuhosky6826 I have no clue. I think they may have saw the writing on the wall and decided to cut their losses for local/syndicated programming. Interestingly enough, WFMJ did carry Gladiators 2000 during it's entire run.
I looked up Lincoln Simonds on IMDB and he's been in some great stuff like Invasion USA, Renegade, Night Trap, and Star Trek:TNG
Hi cheesyvideo, thank you for uploading the two episodes that you had available from the American Gladiators (I saw your reply to Dan Barker). I hope that other UA-cam members who have the equipment necessary and access to further episodes will be kind enough to continue your fabulous work and share what they have with other enthusiasts of the show.
Also, keep up the great work you are doing in uploading other programs, documentaries and adverts from the past; and well done on achieving over one hundred subscribers for your channel... long may it continue!
Take care my friend and all the best for the future.
David
Thanks i really love American Gladiators. Hope u put up more full American Gladiators episodes.
The Original American Gladiators will ALWAYS Be THE BEST
2008 Version on NBC were ok, but I couldn't stand Hulk Hogan hosting the show and Mike Adamle was in the WWE and he didn't feel too comfortable and who could blame him? I don't
Would love to see more of American Gladiators. As a Brit I was raised on the British show but I would love to see where it all began.
If you haven't seen it yet there's a second episode on my channel from a different series
Blaze, Gemini, Ice, Nitro, Laser, Gold, heck I love em all!
"Selected from an nationwide search, 20 men and women have come to Hollywood to challenge our force of American Gladiators. For a single honor to become an American Gladiators champion. Now, here are your American Gladiators: GEMINI, LACE, NITRO, GOLD, LASER, BLAZE, THUNDER, ICE, TURBO and DIAMOND!"
The Host for American Gladiators, Mike Adamle and it's co host Larry Csonka!.
American Gladiators will always be where Gladiators starts all across the world
58:13 - “That's it for this edition of the American Gladiators. For Larry Csonka, I'm Mike Adamle saying: So long from Universal Studios Hollywood."
Always hated that portion of the show!
Maria was a great contender great competitive she did well in American gladiators I just loved American gladiators growing up thx for uploading this.
Thanks for the upload. I was a big fan of Blaze, hopefully you will have more episodes with her ;)
Lincoln Simonds, the guy reeks of awesomeness. Just like Rick Herbst from last season
I came for the American Gladiators, I stayed for the retro NES commercials. 🙌🙌🙌
Esther will be approaching 70 now. Hard to believe.
I was 14. Number one favorite show
Holy crap I remember that 7up Christmas commercial still. Those were the days 😭
Before American Ninja Warrior, there was American Gladiators 🤼♂️
and before Nickelodeon GUTS and Battle Dome there was The Original American Gladiators
Now it's all about Rapper Warrior Ninja
The stark contrast between those ads is hilarious. First you have a Tetris ad, then Super Mario 3, and then some ad about strippers 😂
Let's not forget the Busty Lady at 8:21
Championship Wrestling, Renegade, Hunter and American Gladiators.
It was so popular in germany 😅
American Gladiators and Monster Wars (Monster Trucks)
There has been some great gladiator names.. it's understandable that some names are repetitive around the world. eg; wolf, siren, panther, warrior... some the names that have come up a lot.. but it's fair if only one exists In the gladiator universe at the same time frame.. some of my fav gladiator names have been; Hunter, Phoenix, zodiac, Sahara, Amazon, Vogue, Rhino, Khan, Trojan, Fox, Scorpio, Saracen, Rio, Rebel , Raider there been many more.. like some new ones like Inferno, Oblivion, Atlas, Battleaxe, Enigma.... I think overall I loved the gladiator name Nightshade for a female, and Shadow for a male ..
I dare someone to call one of the numbers in the adverts ahaha
Cheesey, which American Gladiators event did you like the most/least respectively?
My favorite was the Eliminator because sometimes you could have big head starts and other times (like Mark Ortega/Joe Mauro in '92) you could have close finishes.
I least liked The Maze because as I recall, very few people successfully completed it.
To be honest I've never watched any of them, including the two I have on my channel. Just never appealed to me. I posted them for others, like you,nto enjoy.
Honestly, if we're going for favorites, I would go for Assault (tied with Breakthrough and Conquor) and my least favorite was the Maze as well, and from the later seasons the Pyramid.
From Universal Studios Hollywood this is American Gladiators
This show was the best .. I miss these days so much!?
Yeah same here, used to watch this every Saturday night, one of my favorite shows ever.
Looks like Nitro felt bad about that eye hit, kudos to him.
It's true the gladiators want to compete to win, but, never want to intentionally hurt another competitor.
give nitro props
Yeah .... as a kid I always thought the gladiators were complete jerks. However after rewatching these in my 30s, I actually see the true sportsmanship they show! Impressive.
@@JMRSplatt Facts.
@@JMRSplatt Except for Turbo, that guy was a complete jerk! Alwatys didn't like him, he punched Kyler Storm in the face one time.
USA Network aired reruns of this show, but only the 1st 4 seasons with the original theme by Bill Conti, The NEW TNN aired reruns of this show, but only Season 2, 3, 4 & 7 as well as specials from Seasons 5 & 6, but they edited most of the stuff on their network and ESPN Classic aired reruns of EVERY single episode of AG and they were unedited with the exception of the products shown for departing contenders
Yes and that was when Bret "The Hitman" Hart was still the KING of RAW along with Stone Cold Steve Austin and come 2018, RAW is turning 25 years old
The real winner....Dwayne in court. 😎 💰
Looking at the video description about the best guess to the date this is aired, I would have to agree with you on the December 1990 date. Commercials are about the upcoming New Years, the SNES wasn't out yet, otherwise it would of been part of the commercials and the women in the audience still have that 80s hairstyle as well as Gold the gladiator.
There were a couple of other shows on the tape around this one that also gave me clues about the air date.
@@cheesyvideo In that magazine ad, the lady says: "Pick up the December issue"
Guess, that pretty much confirms it :D
Gold was Tonya Knight.
I was in love with diamond!!!
This was the fourth preliminary heat of the first half of Season Two.
I totally forgot about Maria Nichting's "Kyler Storm-esque" move in the Eliminatior!
I actually remember watching this ep on my ABC affiliate WLOS after the Redskins-Colts game. The Redskins blew a double-digit lead at Indianapolis and then an INT TD lost them the game in the final minutes. It also forced them to have to travel to the Vet to play the Eagles in the Wild Card game (even though the Redskins won that game 20-6). And i remember Maria Nichting flying through the air during the Eliminator during this ep too. Was the only time i remember MNF and AG airing the same night.
8:21 i would definitely would love that car show Wow!
1. I remember that Blaze was the gladiator who racked up the most disqualifications (powerball & breakthrough/conquer for 'horse collar tackles')
2. I recall this was the season where Turbo hyperextended his knee in Powerball and was replaced by Tower.
Turbo's injury was the following season, and while Tower did replace him in the lineup, the two would be on the Gladiator team together once Turbo recovered. In fact, there was an "Ask a Gladiator" segment where a fan thought the two looked similar to each other and could be brothers.
Thanks for the uploads, cheesyvideo. These aren't easy to find.
Do you have any more American Gladiators episodes or is it all you have?
I have this and one other and that's it. ua-cam.com/video/sYGSNLuvGEk/v-deo.html
That first NES tetris commercial. It took me 30 fn years to beat that game and maxout the score lmao
they need to make a documentary all about the gladiators then and now
ESPN is scheduled to air a _30 for 30_ documentary concerning _American Gladiators,_ so you're in luck.
Thunder Loses The Match lol at 5:47 😆
Love Nitro...
Yes he is very handsome, but looks are not everything. Have you read his book?
When the music goes at 58:18 it is just so awesome everytime
Thumbnail for this video is incredibly misleading and yet effective in getting a curious person to click
Mike Adamle scoured the country side! 😂😂😂😂😂
And the only person he found was Jeff Harvey! 😂
"Once again we've scoured America for folks desperate for money enough to face off in physical combat with people who could tear a locomotive in half with their pecs."
Warning- The gladiators and contestants are highly trained athletes and have a lifetime of experience, but they are not invincible. Bodies have been broken, necks broken, concussions inflicted, and careers ended in an instant. Although it is entertainment, the hazards are real, and the contestants and gladiators take real risks, endure unimaginable pain, and put their bodies, their careers, and their lives on the line.
Don't risk yours!
Be Smart!
Be Safe!
PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, SCHOOL OR ANYWHERE ELSE!!!
RIP John Harlan.
Did Dwayne ever return to compete?
52:53 Lincoln Simonds also taking flight!
Dwayne must have been thankful for that scratched cornea he was making a fool out of himself natty hoo hoo
RIP John Harlan
Jessy Leppert He died, too?! Somebody better secure Johnny Gilbert in plastic bubble wrap.
Daniel Lewis yup
Game show announcer since the 1960's. This was his last.
Glad I waited for the prices of those cars to come down. I got one for $250! Behlmann GMC, you can't beat that! Take your $13,000 offer elsewhere. Lol
I'm sure in the British version they HAD to wear safety helmets but in ladies powerball I noticed all three gladiators didn't wear one, even a contestant opted to toss it aside halfway through. Health and safety would never allow that now!
I feel bad for Dwayne having to get hurt like that.
Csonka looks like he hasn't showered in about 5 days lol
So this show was on at 12:30 in the morning? That's a crime!
I'm sure it varied depending on the station in each TV market that bought the carry rights from the synidcator. My local station that bought the rights aired it at (I think) 1130 PM on Saturday night
I waited up late at night to watch it myself, I think it went into syndication late at night with all the repeats.
My market was 1 AM between Saturday and Sunday. Commercials involved Canadian bars and sex lines. That's weekend syndication for you.
That 2nd cannonball attempt by Nate wouldn't have counted as he extended the foot.
They were basically saying "Nitro didn't hit him in the face on purpose, but he could've if he wanted to. He didn't aim for his head, he's just really good at hitting what he aims at. " LOL
When I watch it now, it's just announcers making excuses for roided-out juice-heads playing games set up for them to win. I used to cheer for Gladiators, now I'd root for contestants.
The Original American Gladiators from Trans World International the Co-Producers of The Original Battle of the Network Stars and Four Point Entertainment the Co-Producers of Hanna-Barbera's Jump, Rattle & Roll
The 1st 2 seasons were Videotaped @ Universal Studios Hollywood, CA which was also the home to Puttin' on the Hits, Dick Clark's American Bandstand w/David Hirsch, the syndicated Crook & Chase, The Final Season of The NEW Hollywood Squares w/John Davidson of That's Incredible and The Family Channel's Maximum Drive from the Producer of America's Funniest Home Videos
Couldn't agree more. Watching this is nostalgia for me, since I would watch this as a youngster in the early 90s.
T-Bone Hubbard Not to mention the Grudge Match, as well as 1991's syndicated Candid Camera with Dom DeLuise
T-Bone Hubbard And It's Wake, Rattle and Roll, not Jump, Rattle and Roll
The guy touched the platform at thr joust, which normally means DQ
lol these commercials
This must be the 1st show of Season 2.
Actually, it's the fourth show of season 2.
Dan Barker The first show of season 2 was an Alumni Show.
Why did everyone hate Nitro? Can't remember
Eye of the Nitro
@55:44 "HUGH Inventory"
Loved this show as a kid and still do! Shame the red female cobtender ran out of time on Assault, as she would have hit the target.
50:15 Maria Nichting takes flight
Lol caveman games. I don’t think that game would hold up well in 2020
KMOV-TV 4 CBS St. Louis, Missouri
Their news has the News Series 2000 music heavily associated with ABC stations.
ooh, that caprice is a nice car @ 57:28
And that's just one of the Chevrolet/Geo automobiles that season 1 and 2 Grand Champions could choose from, as long as it costs $20,000 or less. Spoiler alert: Season 2's Grand Champions each got 1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 convertibles!
lol hardcore tetris
Go dolphins 🐬
9:10
HUGH INVENTORY 🤔
29:36
Dear god, not that game!
I hated that stupid dam level!
18:08
They must have handed out steroids like candy backstage to those gladiators.
The Gladiators were tested for steroids when they were on tour.
Injuries suck
31:24
41:18

One of the chicks on here committed suicide a few years back. Probably all the roids caused depression.
I believe you’re referring to Shelley Beattie who was Siren. Yeah, that was sad, man!💔😢😭
Super Mario bros 3
I smell a conspiracy😒
Uk gladiators is better than this.
They certainly had shitty names for these Gladiators.
There's always gotta be "That One".
Though the names didn't get much better so I guess the lack of ideas didn't improve with age.
I guess they had to give them that video game boss mystique lol.
Wouldn't surprise Me.
FIREBALL! FIREBALL! FIREBALL!
