@@reachSora It is, but it’s not just bliss or pleasure. That’s more what you hear in songs like I (just died in your arms). There is a distinct sound of pain in this MoP solo which I’m sure addicts anywhere can relate to. A high isn’t pleasure, it’s just an absence of pain.
@@agx8447 Interesting point, I feel like that’s what makes music so enjoyable is because we are able to all have different perspectives on the same thing. To me this part of the song has always invoked a sense of pleasure. Those feelings don’t return until after that and it’s the same thing here it’s As if for a moment the person is forgetting their struggle when they’re relapsing, but it all comes crashing back down again with the regret and sorrow and the anguish once they realize their mistake. Hence the change in rhythm and overall tone following the interlude.

I think the original is actually much better but this shows a beautiful alternative. Would be interesting on nylon though...similar to To Live Is To Die
I’d like to hear an overlay with two acoustic guitars on an interlude like this. The lower register part on a classical guitar and the higher register played on a 12 string
Yes, first thought as well, nylon would make the highs more bearable. I get the idea of op but it doesn't work sonically with these strings imo. Feels too agressive

James Hetfield and Cliff Burton Metallica era was fire. I remember reading that alot of James early writing was in fact done with acoustic/nylom string guitars. These chord progressions make it very obvious from their early records.
Writing in acoustic probably makes it more unforgiving. Has to sound good even before the effects.

I have this theory that the entire *Guitars On Fire* era (from about 1985 to 1989) would have been extended for an entire decade if Cliff Burton and Stevie Ray Vaughn would have survived: Cliff would have been more of an anchor for Metallica, and they would have been able to explore the greater musicality without hitting the And Justice wall of empty technique. Cliff would have made that entire next albums better. Justice would have been more naturally technical instead of the way it was, because it definitely lacked something without Cliff. Justice was great because everyone else in Metallica was at the height of their power, but it was off...not least because the bass was gone. With Cliff around it would have been less explicitly "I have something to prove" progressive metal and more naturally fitting progressive. I think they could have been harder and better with Cliff around, instead of constantly softening Load metal. Things could have been better a lot longer.
Imagine that album with some of sonic space of Master Of Puppets. AJFA is so thick. It's just a slab hammering you. But before they were a whirlwind of ferocity around you. Hopefully those comparisons make sense.
I knew the interlude you were referring to before clicking. While I always thought it would be amazing if they did it on acoustic it was 80s thrash so still sounding amazing & using an electric was....well...metal!
Yes yes YES!!!! But no man, no...........so beautiful and great if it didn't disrupt the flow by undermining the explosive full set distortion of the final recording. The original version of master actually was just "pretty good" until they rearranged the dynamics and rewrote the riffs a bit. And damn the rest is history. Would love to see them do what you did live though.........just the recording is just so effing epic and close to perfect man. God bless and thanks for this.
I think the reason why they did it with an electric is A: It’s their style and fits the theme a bit more (imo) B: Switching from an electric guitar to an acoustic onstage would be a nightmare even for experienced musicians and requires great coördination, it’s doable but difficult.
honestly i prefer it on electric just because acoustic makes it sound like smth the Eagles would write and i have to be in the mood for them if i'm gonna listen to the eagles, and i especially can't mix that sound with metallica
I saw interlude and Metallica and i immediately knew
Same knew without turning the video on

Same here. I play this on nylon (classic guitar) all the time. It sounds really good
My fart knew before i did.
@@nocaptcha8110haha... I like your attitude
The original sells the sorrow more. But this one has a sort of serenity to it that is quite unique.
True!
Agreed

I miss their quasi-classical/baroque era.
So much.
I think that was heavily inspired by Cliff.
It died with Cliff 😔

Yeah, that was my first thought. Acoustic guitar, but not steel-string.

20secs of ads for 48 secs of actual video. That's the kind of youtube I love
Throw down on premium and you’ll never watch another stupid ad again on UA-cam.
chrome youtube addblocker, I never see adds... works perfectly

For some reason whenever I play acoustic I get really inspired to play metal riffs so I can see that hahah
I believe it was Cliff himself who would write riffs and songs on an old classical guitar tuned down so he could bend the strings.

It was originally written on acoustic guitar. Hetfield came up with many riffs on acoustic guitar.
no he stole it from Dave Mustaine
*You are the cleanest acoustic-player I have ever heard. I am impressed. 40+ years composing music. Wow!! Impressed!* 👏
Thank you! 😃
Renaissance music
If I ever own a heavy metal zen garden, this will be its soundtrack 🧘
It will be full of Doom Shrooms and Jalapenos
Dude. You have the "it" factor. Quite simply put, you play very, very well. Excellent stuff. Keep it up. I subscribed.
Thank you! 🙌🙌
0:29 playing it correctly, the way Metallica sometimes seem to forget. Love it.
However James plays it, is correct. The author is the barometer of an arts’ correctness, not the audience.

Saw interlude and metallica and i knew this was gonna be a great take on one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written
For people wondering, it's from Master of Puppets
Thanks.
Astounding cover!! One of the most beautiful intros....
that little harmonic on the 12th fret at the end was a nice touch
Deserves way more likes and views, beautifully played.
Thank you!
had no audio but could immediately hear it in my head lol
Smooth jazz. Wild how different genres overlap.
We all knew what this was without clicking.
Sounds gorgeous!
The clean chorus effect just sounds so much better in the context of the whole song
Very well done!
I knew immediately what this would be. I play this interlude on my acoustic as well - beautiful melody
I knew exactly what this was just watching two seconds of the preview lol. Sounds awesome dude!
How they went from Baroque to guttural primal rage so smoothly always blew me away.
Master of acoustic
Terrific playing.
I saw the thumbnail and knew by the bend.
you earned my like for doing justice to the solo
The 1999 S&M album is still my favorite versions of metallica songs. I can still hear that horn section countermelody here.
Makes me feel like some whimsical creature is going to pop out and offer me a quest to save the princess.
Beautifully played!
Bloody fantastic, young man. Absolutely. Bloody. Fantastic.

I always heard the higher pitch parts as a harpsichord and this somehow got it most of the way there. 👍
You are great, keep up the great work! I play it with a 12 string and it sounds great!
It was originally recorded with a clean tone in the demo tapes and sounded so nice wish they kept it
Sounds way happy and light on the acoustic
I was playing it in my head as the vid was loading. Wasn’t disappointed
Add a tambourine, and it becomes a christmas carol 🤟
😅😅
It just was 😊🎶🎵🎼
Absolutely awesome
I always thought it should’ve been a ballad. Beautiful.
I learned this on acoustic a few years back. I play the whole thing an octave lower though. Sounds great!
That was amazing!
I agree, would love to hear this on nylon.
That sounded beautiful 😃👍
Thank you!
Hearing this let me grab a cup of wine in the house of the lannisters
Back when that was recorded, cutaways were very rare! I worked in a music store and I never even saw one until the 90s!
That was awesome I love a good acoustic guitar.
Amazing, applause 👏👏👏 ❤❤❤
Amazing!
Amazing either way
Oh man, those hammer pull offs wish I can do them that well.
James, you can´t combine a thrash metal song with a classical part! Yes I can! OMG It´s AWESOME!!! 🙂
James: Just do it! Obey your master! lul

For a second I thought I was “my friend of misery” interlude. That would be great on acoustic as well.
you have a point
Agree

Sounds like something that would have been played on a harpsichord in the 16th century.
You should make a video about Metallica interludes that should have been played on harpsichord.
Absolutely
More clean than my bank account.
Very ,Very good
This is really great ❤
I could sleep to this for hours
This is like a serenade, sounds amazing, but the original has that melancholy mixed with the sorrow, sounds like you're high on drugs
Sounds so folky on an acoustic!
Very smooth playing - great job!
Any chance you could provide a break down of your setup (guitar, mic etc)?
Yes
Gotta love how all of us in the comments collectively knew immediately what the video was going to be lmfao
Awesome dude 😎
The demo had it all on clean guitars, even James solo, which is the closest we got to acoustic
Also, Great playing!
Great playing skills. Subscribed.
What guitar are you using? Sounds nice and smooth.
Sensacional!!!!

That was killer! Yes I agree. This is superior.

Yep I’m convinced lol
MASTER MASTER
I definitely agree with you.
That jangly “ride the lightning” album acoustic would’ve sounded great here. You know the one from the intro of Fight Fire With Fire?
I was expecting to live is to die but this is good to 👍
I... disagree.
Do To Live Is To Die Next!
Sounds medival
That's beautiful. But the original is more powerful and heart rending.
I always wished Metallica did their clean riffs in acoustic more instead of clean electric, like Opeth.
I agree it could have been cool but this isn't really a comparison. You've made it more baroque. Not complaining.
Impressive.
