The problem is.... Asus. I am afraid of owning this monitor and have to put up with their "amazing" support system. I am avoiding this brand at all cost.
yea im heavily leaning towards LG 39gs95qe now even though it has less features
Must be a US thing, Asus support is top notch in my country :/
Purchase the Asurion amazon warranty on top, OLEDS should always be purchased with extra coverage if you dropping that kind of money then you avoid the ASUS fear.
Nothing beats 38" 3840x1600... just waiting for an OLED/MiniLED in that resolution.
same, Alienware used to have that same res but it was LCD/LED monitor.
Or if you're on PC, you can just buy a 4K OLED and make a custom resolution to make it 3840x1600 aka widescreen.
Me too
38" 5120x2160 OLED beats that, only coming 2025 tho..
42" 4k 120HZ OLED beats it with no effort.
as soon as i saw the logo, i remembered the bad experience i have with my 2 asus monitor back then.
Hopefully no RMA claims are needed. Asus on their bs
lol
Lmao i hope not
Pay us $500 if you want to see your precious monitor intact again.
@@jollygoodfellow3957 u mean 1500$? xD
I have NEVER had problems with Asus monitors. Every gaming monitor I have bought is from them and all were great for their time. In fact I even use their graphics cards and motherboards without issue. when I first built a PC almost a decade ago I decided to go with an Asus MOBO, GPU and monitor because I heard good things and even though recently I hear some youtubers talking about bad experiences I personally have not experienced it. I have an almost entirely Corsair setup because I like to control my whole PC under the same software and Asus MOBO and GPU RGB is controllable via Corsair iCUE software which is why after the first motherboard problem with the backwards capacitor which technically was not their fault it was the factory that was producing for them (they did do a bad job with the RMA and the only problem was a backwards capacitor which could have easily been fixed by the user if they know how to solder and flip it back around and wanted to go that route). I have only ever RMA'd one thing from Asus and I had a good experience and it turned out that the motherboard I sent for RMA was not even broken and was my Corsair power supply because the motherboard would light up but the power button would not work even when I bridged the power connectors on the actual motherboard I was told power supplies can still be dead and still be able to provide power to the components (I confirmed the problem by bridging 2 connectors on the PSU which I was told would turn on the fan inside which never turned on). Corsair also had a really good RMA for me and I got a replacement within a week after the old PSU had arrived at their RMA centre.
I will wait several months to see if there are improvements. I currently use an RTX 3080 from Asus and a 170Hz 1440p HDR monitor from them too with a Crosshair VIII mobo and these work fine. If Corsair does collabs with other brands for software on computer parts I may consider them whenever I next build a PC but right now my main focus is on improving my setup rather than getting a new PC because I have been using a trashy old office chair I got for free and over the years I have never upgraded the setup only ever put my money on my PC and monitor and I am also the type of guy who is not rich but will spend as much time as possible saving up for something really high end rather than jump the gun on something cheap because I spent a while saving up for that 3080 12GB and was living off a sub $150 GPU for a year (I built this PC when the GPU pandemic had just started and I never managed to get a GPU at launch because of scalpers until the market died down and when it did I didn't have money because I needed it for other stuff). I am currently slowly saving up a ton of money to drop on a Herman Miller chair or something because I have sat in one of the cheaper ones which had an entirely plastic back and that was the most comfiest office chair I have ever sat in and I have sat in chairs worth a couple hundred dollars (it was in a charity thrift store and was put up for auction on their eBay store page and I was outbid by a huge margin which I did not have at the time although I still would have payed it if I had the money because there was no scratches at all besides the wheels from the chair being pushed around outdoors in the street and so on by the people dropping it off as well as being in the warehouse)
I personally have this monitor. It is amazing. I back everything you said!
I saw it in your mystery tech video yesterday, and had to do some digging to find it. Makes sense for the video to come out today :-) thanks!
You said you dont enable HDR because you like a more punchy look with lots of contrast....but ... that's exactly what HDR is for? Im confused
that depends on the grade of the panel itself. there's a reason why nearly every tech reviewer has gone over the different grades of HDR for like 5 years now. where have you been?
@@Cumfortable yea but these OLED Panels got by far the best HDR out of all Panel types. I dont know why you would turn HDR on such a monitor off, expect for a bad implementation Ingame
@@XAnTiLaLX dude, just look up HDR ratings. its already been explained. idk why you're here asking a comment section about a technology comparison that's been defined
Windows hdr is broken so hdr looks washout but there is a fix most people don’t know about… then it looks magnetic.
Don't think I could buy an Asus product after Gamers Nexus video on Asus's warranty work.
Yeah I was something about that on Paul's Hardware, but after reading a lot of comments from different users it seems the experiences vary. People seem to have just fine RMA experiences with them too, especially in Europe where consumer rights are heavily protected.
Dude stop the drama. Ive bought nothing but ASUS for the past ten years and ver an issue
I've got the new LG Ultragear 39" OLED, which is this ones big Brother, I love it.
have the same one, its amazing!’
@@zeezmo6337 Hows the curve for you? I'm thinking of getting that or the 45" one
I just recently bought the Alienware 34" qd-oled monitor and have been super pleased with it. I would love to have 240 hz though. Cant imagine how smooth that must be
All sounds good, except its Asus, so can't trust them to uphold warranty.
Awesome monitor upgrade!
Nice callout to The Display Guy 😅
It’s not dramatic. It’s the worst thing to EVER happen to WOLED.
@@andrewmorris3479 Nope. I adore matte coatings in monitors because it enables me to use it normally even in the brightest of rooms (which my LG C2 42 and MSI 321URX horribly fail at). Even with a TV and window directly right in front of the monitor, I still keep my LG 45GR95QE-B’s brightness at 80% in SDR. It’s more than sufficient for gaming. I don’t need to be a total caveman just to happily use my monitor.
THANK YOU, I was thinking the same. I got the monitor and it has a Glossy screen protector, problem solved lol
sheeshhhh
happy for you!
Don’t most of the OLED gaming monitors from the last couple years have a similar response time?
I’ve been looking at the pulsar xlite v3, any reason you haven’t taken a look at it?
Do you experience any flickering with G-Sync - especially in dark areas?
After all these upgrades i wonder what happned all those old products
they got returned, of course
What do you mean?
@@randomfrankp like u upgrade products constantly right what happens to older gears that u used lol wouldn't it become messy with the amount of equipment's u have to clean and maintain
Welcome to the OLED family Frank P. 😁
Rolling in a Honda hatchback, I se your a man of culture as well
Enjoy it! :) And thank you for the amazing content.
Dang it looks nice! What was the racing game you were playing?
Looks like Need for speed - 2016
Does anyone else have an issue with screen capture in HDR? Whenever I use Snagit or Steelseries Moments, the captured image either looks washed out or super bright and distorted. How do you fix this?
I wonder if a 57 inch curved monitor is a bit excessive, I was planning on getting the samsung odyssey neo G9 as a single monitor.
Went with the LG version… it’s an amazing gaming display. So satisfied.
I have LG's first-gen 27” 240hz OLED. It's really nice. Had I not got it open box for half MSRP it wouldn't have been worth it IMO upgrading from 170hz IPS
Now I want to see randomfrankp see a glossy version of this. The matte finish is NOT the worst thing BUT if you've used an OLED with glossy versus matte, matte takes away a lot of what makes it so great (and that cost)
Have the Asus PG349Q .. worth it uprade ?
What’s the racing game he was playing?
Is there a non-curved version of this?
Does the monitor have built in speakers
Was at Microcenter last weekend, and they had one of these on display. Was pretty incredible compared to my Gigabyte G34WQC. OLED just looks so colorful and sharp compared to my garbage VA panel 😄😄
Is that 2015's Need for Speed?
dude, that zoomed-in box is actually a cheat code for CS wtf hahaha
I'm between this and his brother the pg32ucdm, and I don't finish deciding. I've been using the pg27uq for the last 4-5 years, and I'm in doubt if I'll miss that extra 4k resolution... I'll continue🤔
😅😂
what game were you playing at the start?
Looks like Need for speed - 2016
If that Asus monitor have the same 1800R like the Alienware AW3423DW, it would be the perfect monitor for me. I guess I still gotta wait till they come up with a 1800R 240hz oled in 34 inch one. (hopefully)
Me personally my dream monitor has warranty support
I love this monitor and I was seriously considering it. For me the curve is just too big, takes up too much depth and isn't good for productivity which I do have to do sometimes. Plus, a 38 inch version even at the same resolution would be amazing. But preferably at 1600, not 1440p. Thanks for the review frank!
i have 32inch screen is 34 inch not to big aslo never had curved screen idk if i will like
Someone needs to call out display guy talking bout his dramatic oily haze grainy Matt finishes and basically saying it’s a horrible monitor because of the coating like wtf.
Is a basic sentence too hard for u? Look how shit this Asus looks 😂
He aint wrong....Matte is terrible.
Here i am using a 1080p 60hrz 24inch Dell from who knows when.
My PC demands an upgrade..
Which racing game is that?
I generally enjoy your content and hope asus payed you a lot for this
Once yuou go 34 inch, this is the only upgrade im down to do after 3 years, crazy quality
10:33 which game is that?
38" 3840x1600 > 34" 3440x1440
congrats
If you have the AW3423DW/DWF and you buy this one you will see the difference in clarity and colors, I was so excited for this monitor and loved the 240hz,curve, extra brightness and features more than than my alieneware 34 inch oled but as much as I wanted the 240hz and this immersive curve that increases visibility in fps. I felt I need to pack it and return it as the clarity in text(even after using Mactype app) and working in windows especially whites showes some of that coating smearing. Also the price was 1236 euros for an open box new was 1450 euro. If I was coming from the Ips 34 inch 160hz lg ultra gear I would have been impressed, but coming from QD oled 34 inch 160hz, I felt even if I have downgrade back to 160hz and the lesser 1800R curve its a better oled experience IMHO. Hopefully will see QD OLED 34 inch 240hz soon
This is doubled the price of aw2725qf 1440p 360hz qd oled here where i live
How long till we get a 4k Oled ultra wide!!
I wish it were even just a few inches bigger!
That’s what she said
@@randomfrankp LOL took the words right out of my mouth! 😆
(That's what she said)
As an owner of an OLED 34" ultrawide at 3440x1440 I have to say I prefer the larger 32" 16:9 4k I used to have. Now, an OLED 38" UW with a 3840x1600 res would be a different story.
my dream monitor too! but yet too expensive...
What game were you playing? The non-car one lol
i will buy the same but in 32' i want to leave 21/9 34'
Yay my dream monitor is now a reality, now have to make money to buy it😢
What about ABL? Burn in factor is important, but ABL is right up there. If the monitor has aggressive ABL then it's a "do not buy", if you are testing at a low room temp you might not experience ABL. But if you live in a warmer climate this tends to be an issue with a lot of OLED's. Great video, thanks.
ABL on these monitors only really appears with HDR1000, which is mostly a gimmick away.
watching this video with this monitor.
And here's another episode of "Things I'll never have". Thx, Frank, for making me enjoy and suffer at the same time.
Ahhh Civic Ek4!
don't you think that these monitors below are better that this one? if not why? because I wanna buy an OLED Monitor soon.
34" UltraGear™ OLED WQHD 240Hz 0.03ms G-SYNC Compatible 800R Curved Gaming Monitor
32" UltraGear™ OLED Dual Mode UHD 240Hz and FHD 480Hz 0.03ms G-SYNC® Compatible Gaming Monitor
It better be good for 1300
I want to know what racing game is that
am i missing something why is this panel 0.3ms while all other oleds are 0.1??
Qd oled is 0.03
@@3duMFM ohhh. so i am missing something 😂 thanks
Yea it's nice but the problem it's QD-OLED and text is fuzzy and looks shit like on most QD Oled Monitors, that's why I decided to buy the Xeneon Flex. Qd is great for games only, productive work it's terrible.
What racing game was that?
need for speed, not unbound, not heat, simple need for speed.
2015 Need for Speed
WOOOOOW !
The hdr was broke on mine even with firmware is asus though so hard pass
I'm waiting for the day when the display is has a curve 4k micro led display with 2,000 nits with display hdr 1,400 certification with 240 hz. Like the samsung odyssey g8 neo 4k gaming monitor but with micro led with 1,400 certification instead of mini led with display hdr 1,000 certification like on the samsung odyssey g8 neo.
Never scale your OLED screen into smaller image. For example, if you only display 16:9 on a 21:9 screen, you will be able to feel the difference in brightness of the two zones after a month.
Confirm. I had a DWF that was 16:10. After a yer and watching a ton of 16:9 content, I can easily tell where the pillar boxes were
wake me up when they finally start making:
40" 5120x2160 144Hz+ QD-OLED Monitors
(preferably with DolbyVision but HDR10 is fine)
probably the only time I'll ever upgrade from my AW3423DW xD
4:41 aggressively beautiful
Sorry Asus isn't getting another cent from me after the warranty / repair scam.
Might want to avoid Asus with the recent youtube-drama..
Yeah I’m not buying from Asus. Great video though! Will look for other OLED monitors
Seeing asus means immediately not interested.
Why ?
@@nicktan4530 they've been under fire recently (again) by Gamers Nexus and other folks for their horrid RMA process.
@@nicktan4530their warranty claim process is anti-consumer. You can send you item in for one problem and they would try to fix another issue ( that wasn’t there ) so you can pay them money for a problem you didn’t ask to be fixed.
@@nicktan4530Their return/repair/warranty policy is no longer known to be simply bad, but jumping past the border to clearly illegal. When you send something to them for repairs they “find” new problems, charge you hundreds of dollars more than the cost of the product itself in a surprise bill to repair it, and if you don’t pay they send back the entire product completely disassembled.
@nicktan4530 ASUS has been scamming people, search it up.
Not bothering with asus EVER AGAIN
Not on Amazon for me
With their recent RMA fiasco, i would steer clear of ASUS.

No, the new update unlocks the frame rate cap

I wish it didn’t have that ugly bump with the logo at the bottom. The entire thing is ugly but at least I could’ve hidden it with a monitor arm. But I can’t hide that bump. I just want a clean glossy ultrawide OLED with USB-C! Why does that not exist

I don’t understand how you can put out a video like this without addressing the clear anti-consumer moves by asus.
He's not a drama channel
@@bespeckled_neewt5236 it’s not drama though, it’s a brand ripping off customers seeking repairs and this is the second time they’ve been called out for it (and while they claim to be changing their systems they didn’t last time so it’s hard to believe them this time around). Consumer protection and warranties are not drama.

Still using 1080p 75hz
and i will still use it till it die on me
Yea ntg wrong with it, honesty I'll be happy with 1440p and 75hz, dont need more hz. None of my games go above that.
1080p 75hz is plenty for me. I even use a Roku as a 2nd monitor/TV 😅
3440x1440 not enough these days mate, we need 5120x2160 monitors for a sharper and more crisp image, lot of games in that res looks too blurry compared to 4K
Yup, but OLED 5120x2160 gaming panels don't exist yet
I don’t care how good the monitor is how can anyone support asus right now? Does anyone not have integrity anymore? This company is absolute dog shit and thinks the consumer is stupid.
1440p is your dream?
The real fear of myself is, that I can't work on those OLED monitors because they will dim here and there whenever the content is white.
Even the youtuber optimum prefers the matte finished.
I just put a matte finish screen protector on my phone. While the colors don't pop as much now, fingerprints are far less visible, and the glare is almost non-existent. I'd say it's a plus for sure.
its a preference thing, personally i prefer glossy for that extra punch by gorilla glass would be endgame
Actually braindead
Kind of criminal yhat you didnt talk about the PPI since that has been an issue with most Ultrawide monitors.
lol what it has the same PPI as any 27" 1440p monitor, which very few people consider an issue
@@ivanmalinovski7807 you are aright. for some reason I thought this was something bigger than a 27'

Otherwise i will still choose matte because there are actually buyable monitors on the market. It's not that serious.
I recommend everyone check into the dell panels over ASUS
Looks like the best monitor. They claim it's 1300 nits, which is pretty good. By the way, you should really try HDR. Your negative opinion of it likely means you never experienced good HDR. With the 1300 nits of your new OLED, combined with Nvidia's RTX HDR, it will make everything that supports it look amazing. You will feel silly for not taking advantage of it earlier.
A product is only as good as the Company that made it.
With all due respect, I will not get another Asus again for sure… I had no problems, last one I got was 27” qhd 144/165hz oc PG279q monitor, but whenever I OCd it to 165hz it would occasionally create a split-second stutter which was driving me nuts. Paid for this monitor $700…
Couple of years later got a DELL 27”, 165hz IPS compatible G-sync, and it is FLAWLESS … and that flawless dell came at the price of $220 in bestbuy sale…
I would recommend looking elsewhere vs Asus…
Costs way too much.
1450 eur in EU, while there is a 165Hz Alienware OLED monitor with same res + same size sold for 810 eur.
Also after all the ASUS RMA horror stories I wouldn't buy anything from them in the foreseeable future.
Recently Gamers Nexus mentioned that they got so many emails from people getting scammed by ASUS that it became impossible to read them all.
Na my dream one has 4k and display port 2.1 80gbs
