    Loving these discussion-based videos, imbued with the mercurial passion that rizzed me towards your content initially. Thanks Number Six.

    The research has been done. On average a vinyl record has to be played 18 times, after which streaming becomes more environmentally damaging.

    vinyl records of all things should be far down on the list of things to worry about. Even if people don't like them anymore they're likely to be resold instead of simply thrown away

    I love vinyl but an interesting point is that, while vinyl records aren't great for the environment, they're actually much worse for the people playing them because of the toxic fumes emitted when they're taken out and played!
    Benn Jordan made a great video about it, I highly recommend watching it

      I've read up on that over the years... but I'm not too concerned. It's pretty low on the list of things that are driving me to an early grave. What's more concerning is that everything I like to eat, drink or do is slowly killing me!

    Mr. Mercurial! Could you please react to Sexta dos Crias by DJ Ramon Sucesso? It is a Brazilian Funk vinyl that came out in europe recently that exposes the chaotic and beautiful sound of the sound collage that is the genre. It is an upbeat, full of energy 30 minutes of music that made me think of you having fun listening to it. Thank you so much for being the realest reactor of this site. Be safe!!

    I mean King Gizzard are a great example of how to make record without to much cost to the environmental. The lads are very clearly environmentalist so all their records come not wrapped in plastic but in tough paper sleeves. The records themselves come on 'eco wax' too, a record pressed with all the off cuts of other records pressed at the plant so the waste is minimal.
    There is however a kind of risk in while the records YOU own are getting spun and listen too and loved, not ever record pressed by a company (unless it's like a super limited run) are going to end up in someones home. You see online photos of shop the have rack and rack of Adele's new album they can't shift, go to any second hand record shop and there's bound to be racks and racks of music that just haven't shifted for years. The problem with vinyl is also its greatest benefit, it's large and it last forever.

      Oh, I don't know. As I look around my house I see that everything will eventually end up in landfill. This particular old music producer probably has some kind of agenda to be singling out vinyl records. I don't think he's a Coldplay fan! :-)

    I feel for you and I love the vinyls. I believe it’s stupid to ban vinyls and I don’t even have vinyls it’s like artists slowly not far in their career? Would like to know where you get that shirt, I would like to buy it

    While I'm not into vinyl records, the idea of banning them because environment sounds special kind of stupid.

    • @mercurialno6
      @mercurialno6  6 місяців тому

      Yes. He should have started by demanding that every record he ever sold is now destroyed. He could have also reimbursed everybody with a little bit extra for emotional impact.

    I disagree with this even though I only have two vinyl records I want to continue to get more of them so I can have a physical copy of some of my favorite artists albums, and if they go well then how will we have a different and fun way to listen to music? I just feel like it is unneeded to get rid of vinyl just because that records are made of plastic and a type of plastic that is reused 100s of times by people while other types of plastic get thrown away immediately. So they should stick.

  • @phuncc
    @phuncc 6 місяців тому

    yeah that point is one i'd disagree with anyways but coming from who it's coming from (his pretentiousness sir millar) it really is hard to take it seriously, especially in a day and age when physical sales are one of the only ways artists can make more than mere pennies per song in the streaming hellscape the industry is in at the moment.
