I feel like this might have too much friction when closing. Going to have to be really smooth for the pieces to rub against each other. How long will it stay smooth if the gate gets used often is also a concern

@Ronaldmullins I agreed your point, without friction latch not complete but this is spring latch have too much friction as you told.
For this latch regularly use lubricant near to handle where Handle slide... 👍

You can include similar model which opens and close by rotating the wheel.

I use same model with different lock designs, you can take any gate, it is open and close same way..doesn't matter which lock used in gate.
But you can see Every latch work in different way.. Every design have owned style of locking....

@@EngineOn yeah, what I mean is a the similar mechanism with rotating wheel that goes in and out of hole in the wall with clockwise and counter clockwise rotation.
