Ring Latch for Gate

Ring latch is very unique lock system for your Gate and door.
I trying to show how this mechanism works.
Note- this is a latch type lock, when you close the gate it's automatically locked, for open the gate need to lift the ring then slide the gate.

Am having a two sliding gates meeting at one point . It’s 50/50 , but am not sure how lock mechanism work , as we cannot use normal lock system cos both meet at one point and though we lock it we slide it will open . Can someone suggest best lock mechanism for this , inside I think we can just put a bar accross but from outside we need to lock and that must not even spoil the beauty of gate . Suggestions please
