Big American trucks have a devoted Loyal following . They are very cool but shockingly expensive . I can’t imagine dropping 60K on a truck but people do.
MSRP is a polite fiction with them, 10 grand cash on the hood is common.
How about $100,000 for a top of the line F350?
I would never blow more than $60k on a truck. Then again I’m not a truck person and the only reason I would buy one is if I actually had a use for it.
Matthias H Your a rarity then. Alot of the people buy them don't actually haul anything or really use it. The trucks are expensive to maintain too.
Ethan Benson You’re right. I’m a Toyota dealer mechanic and the Toyota Tundra is significantly more expensive to fix than their cars. Toyota V8 engines, although bulletproof, have Euro car level repair costs when they do break. I’d personally buy (and did buy) a BMW over a truck. But then again if people have the money to blow on a truck and run it, and it makes them happy, then why not, it’s their money.

The luxury vehicle for the people who have a lot of money but a BMW or Mercedes is too white collar-appearing
@kokakoliah have you seen the price tag on these things? You have to be couple tax brackets up to afford a diesel with all the toys
@kokakoliah they're priced almost the same. This top of the line Chevy will still go for 70k-80k. The Denalis are not that far off. Hell, a Limited or LTZ 1500 will be near 60k or 70k. All the manufacturers are doing that. The difference isn't the price tag but the aesthetic and some luxuries...nothing else
And too not 'Merican.
But when a super base model costs $53k MSRP And doesn’t even come with satalite radio or heated front seats, 60k for this isn’t too bad.
To be perfectly honest, I would rather have this exact truck over a BMW or Mercedes. If I'm going to drop 70k+ on a vehicle, it should at least have some utility. But everyone's different.
Chevy Silverado: for the guy that gets angry when you merge in front of him and proceeds to tailgate you for 3 miles
Yeah, I bet you're the guy that thinks it's ok to merge in front of someone when there are only 2 more feet than your car is long at 80 mph.
@@rsdna9698 that guy ^
Seriously, stop merging in front of big trucks, they're not as light as your 2006 Nissan Maxima ffs
Silverado for the guy that sees you pull in front them (a little close but you graciously speed up) and then quickly accelerates to make it appear as if you cut them off, only to tailgate you for miles and then beep the horn as you pull into your driveway.

Crew cabs these days are driving living rooms. That's what makes them so great.
People don't give 4 door trucks enough credit for being the more comfortable and capable modern versions of American land barges people are so nostalgic about now.
Yeah, trucks these days have snuck up behind us and taken the slot for luxury land yachts. But they've added hella capability to the category.
And I just don't understand that. If I want a truck I want it to be tough, simple and minimal. If I want big and comfy I'll get a Cadillac
@@GMdrivingMOPARguy I had a '92 Sedan DeVille back in the high school days. And that WAS driving a living room around - with leather and shag rugs!
@@GMdrivingMOPARguyI'm totally with you on that statement, but as you see, these automakers like Cadillac and Lincoln are slowly edging away from the luxury sedan market. Pretty soon all you'll have to choose from is SUV's and trucks of different classes and sizes. Truck's gonna be the biggest, so naturally it'll be the most luxurious.
You forgot to mention Z71 in the title.
It's in the title now
And?
He missed the chance to add crew cab + 4X4 too!
I’ve always had such nostalgia for big diesel trucks like this. It brings back distant memories of trips to Pigeon Forge with Grannie and Pawpaw, having to watch my mouth because I was old enough to curse with my friends, but young enough that my family didn’t even know I knew the words.
I have absolutely no need for a diesel truck... *but I want one*
Lol I spell it how I pronounce it.
I want a dually pickup for some reason even though there is barely any use for one in New Zealand. I just think they are so cool.
Big trucks remind me of when i was a little boy and my dad had a landscaping company, and I was sitting on his lap listening to the radio in a 2500
I seriously don't see the appeal of throwing up straight stacks and lift kits and two mirrors to trucks like these, other than overcompensation. I mean this truck is stock and looks beefy as is. Why add more?
Because just like the men under the belt, and the wives/sisters can back it up..."Its not enough."
Because your girlfriend's brother also has one of these, and yours has to be *BIGGER.*
Well An actual real suspension lift/kit like one from carli or thuren fab makes these trucks drive/ride 10x better as well as making them way more capable for actual off-roading.
@I Am Sekou were not, but the look of compensation with these trucks are the definition of "insecure"

I've noticed the frames have rust on new trucks sitting at the dealership that wax coat gm applies is not very good..
It's typical American steel and iron. For some reason even the "aluminum" Ford beds seem to rust up here in Michigan
@Prairie Highways you are correct, I should have used the term "Corrosion" instead of "Rust", but either way I'm seeing 2012-2016 model year trucks with beds that look like they have been at the bottom of the sea.

@@chadtvu It's true. The first comment people make on a car revolves around how their phone interfaces with it, probably because they spend more time texting, calling, and skipping through songs/podcasts on a playlist than paying attention to the road. Hence why the next comment people make about a car revolves around autonomous safety features so they can have a false sense of being slightly safer ignoring whatever is happening around them.
I would be happy to own a car with no stereo at all, personally. There are too many idiots on the road where I live so focus is essential. That said, the base model 2019 Hyundai Sonata we are leasing came with Apple CarPlay. Shockingly, I actually kind of like it, only because it makes Waze bigger and louder and I don't need a junky phone holder clip anymore.

This generation of GM's pickups were a smashing success. It's what I consider keeping it simple while staying in line with modern times. It's not aggressive, it just looks tough, simple and ready to go. I really like to call this the revamp of the GMT800 trucks. The GMT900s didn't really carry on the same energy the 800s did, but the K2XX trucks picked up the slack and nailed it. Every day I'm seeing less and less GMT800s on the road, which used to be insanely common and still are to an extent, but now those trucks are being replaced by K2XX trucks. Owning and driving both GMT800s and GMTK2XXs all the time, I completely understand why this is the case. Both platforms share a lot of the same energy and I believe that's what people like about it so much.
This truck screams "America" as loud as a Mustang do, yet it only lives well on North American soil.
Wide roads, cheap gas/diesel and broad countryside, tax is not based on displacement...it's the American privilege that Americans are enjoying and is taken as granted.
In most other countries half-ton trucks are already huge for civilian use, let alone Class 2bs.

This video makes me want to write an essay on the Sociology of Pickup Buyers. The thing is, how it is here in Texas would be completely different than in other states or regions. One thing that tends to hold true no matter where you go, people tend to modify their trucks more frequently than any other category of vehicle. Mild as it may be, bigger tires and a leveling kit are modifications and I don't consider that truck stock.
I notice this in the northeast with trucks and Jeeps
Sir, the writing in all of these is outstanding. All the greats would be proud, I'm certain.
I’m from the UK and I always have had a thing for these Big US diesel trucks since I first visited Florida as a kid. We have a lot more diesel cars over here but nothing like a duramax or Cummins. I understand why with the costs of fuel and such but I guess the lure of the forbidden fruit is too much.
Lift them up run a straight pipe through the boot big knobby tires and presto :=)
They don't really fit the roads either, but you can pick up an imported F-150 or similar for £40,000 or so.
You ain't kidding Chris! They're awesome...hopefully the emissions issues get figured out but it sounds like most people delete them anyways
This video is quintessence of what i love about this channel
Yeah, trucks can be whatever you want to turn them into, because the bones are there: comfort, strength custom parts catalogs.
Not so easy to find in the car segment. If only cars had useful options, maybe the trucks wouldn't all be luxury vehicles. I want a truck sold without a bed because I'll build one custom. With a no-plastic interior that can be hosed out, and the heater will dry in 20 minutes.
You know those rubber floor mats in restaurants that look like Lego boards? They are an awesome alternative.

I normally don't like the Silverado, the proportions are wrong but this one, lifted just enough with the correct sized wheels makes it look, because it is, practical and usable for its purpose. And I love that it has a stronger gearbox and engine, well done USA, you made a homegrown modern truck I want.

GM makes some good vehicles, or parts if you know what to look for. But advertising lies don't go unnoticed once people start checking what you do and look for what's out of place. Reminds me of another industry, or companies if you want to get specific.
We've all heard the jokes, but there's no arguing that Toyota and Honda make the most reliable vehicles.
If you really want specific brands you should look for specific year models. There are good years out there under GM.
Edit: The Allison Transmission is from a company named Allison, obviously. Because GM is ordering transmissions from another company that makes specifically transmissions they have to include a label stating this. Ford is also doing the same thing so yeah. Quality transmission.
For decades Allison was part of GM. They were spun off a few years ago, but they still have production and engineering sharing.

Yuck. I don't blame you.
My father has the almost same truck, minus the Z71 pack. Great rig, we drove it from the east coast of Newfoundland, Canada to Greencastle, PA, in 2.5 days. The drive down we averaged 1050kms per tank of fuel , and it was smooth a silk. Picked up our trailer at the PA/MD border and drove back. That trip we averaged 600km per tank with the extra 14k lbs behind us. And not once did the truck let us down. Completely stock, and comfortable. I'd do it again tomorrow.
Well if it were to be tuned... and deleted of course... it would get much better fuel mileage and who can complain about extra power, efficiency and reliability.
