the scene where damon locks katherine in the tomb is SUCH a satisfying end to his arc with her. he is literally and figuratively closing the door on that time of his life. and when you know where he is at mentally now with regards to elena, well... it's just interesting!

I really appreciate your comment about Tyler and toxic masculinity. I think a lot of people spend so much time hating on toxic masculinity instead of having compassion and asking the question of why they feel they have to be that way in the first place and seeing if there’s something we can do to fix it. Instead of suppressing those people further.

I have watched seasons 1-4 about 50 times and yet I still clicked on this video. Do I need the plot explained? No. Am I obsessed with this series and will watch anything related? Yes. Thank you, Luke, for loving my favourite season of it with just as much intensity
i have a head cannon that caroline tried out her dark eye makeup just because she turned into a vampire lol then she realizes it's too much and never does it again
The struggle that Stefan goes through with blood reminds me less of substance addiction and more of the addiction that comes with eating disorders because he needs blood to survive. and how he acts when he is relapsing where he will lie to everyone about how deep he is in active addiction is similar to behavior when hiding an eating disorder. and like the part about him trying to work on his relationship with it rather than just not drinking blood really made me think because it’s not like with drugs where you can just stop and eventually you can become not addicted, it’s something that he has to live with all the time trying not to give himself over to his craving reminds me of anorexia and constantly having to maintain and work on your relationship with food and work on not slipping back into those habits but also not being able to stop that from effecting you because you need to eat or feed In his case every day to survive.
I really enjoyed this 2-hour video. I appreciate the passion and effort you put into it. 👏🏽 Season 2 is my most favorite season because of Katherine, obviously. Can’t wait for Part 2

It's incredible that it took only a bit over 2 months to create such excellent piece of TV: the constant edge-of-your-seat action, the crazy, heartbreaking twists & turns, some of the best character developments of the entire series, peak acting performances & the kind of storytelling that actually still cared about the integrity of the story. I always love your TVD deep dives and your right vampire Caroline is the best writing choice for Tvd, Caroline really becomes her own as a vampire and out of all the characters makes the vampire transition the easiest!! But I especially love your ability to to love Damon and understand his complexities, which makes him an interesting character, while also seriously acknowledging and disagreeing with Damons tendency to make toxic, impulsive decisions, especially when he's upset no matter who it hurts, even if it's the people he loves. This is something that sometimes annoys me when people talk about Damon and excuse the more awful stuff that he's done, especially with killing Jere in front of Elena because he was triggered by something that wasn't Elena's fault. Even with Masonand Damon killed him, leaving Tyler to grieve for another person and go through the traumatizing experience of being a werewolf without having that guidance from Mason
And with Katherine and Stephan I see the chemistry that is so obviously there but I find that Katherine's argument is flawed, because even though Stefan did love her without the compulsion it was under a false pretence because he didn't know she was a vampire, and after she told him, she was compelling him to be okay with it and feeding on him without him having any choice/consent at 17 years old. Unlike Damon, who atleast had more say in what happened between them because he was okay with it all. And after Stefan becomes a vampire and realizes what she did to him his love for her died a lot, and it's clear he didn't appreciate how she treated him, even if she "loved" him.
Only us TVD people understand how emotionally attached we are to this show and the characters! This show has totally ruined tv for me because I still can’t fall in love with another show this way 😢
25:22 | i feel like a part of Tyler’s anger is the fact that his dad was such an asshole. I mean we saw the way he treated Tyler. He was a horrible father to him. So he was probably struggling with that since he died. Wanting to be sad and mourn but still being angry at the man his dad had been. Thats why hes so sad saying “i hate him” because he did and is probably feeling guilty because now he is dead.

Never watched vampire diaries growing up I’m rewatching it through you Luke ! But whew can’t help but notice vampire diaries seem infamous for killing off random black characters ( S2E2) we already only got Bonnie ! Then an extra will come and go so fast and brutal like gahdamn! 😒💀
Yeah it’s really shitty to include poc characters just to kill them off and tvd defs has a problem with this. I think the originals is better with diversity
