I agree the breed is nothing like what it use to be jusy like bulldogs. They have been breed into such a mess with their extremely brachycephalic face (smoosh face breed) that they have such high and sometimes sever medical issues that make it very hard for them to breath and makes any type of anesthetic procedures high risk. I see it every day as vet tech.

When the UK government brought in the ban, she was then neglected and left to die has she had no more financial gain for the previous owner she was starving, scabby and full of ear mites...Heartbreaking 💔
Retrieved by RSPCA and Rescued by me has she was destined to be put to sleep. She's happy and healthy now but bears the scars of those who treated her badly for financial gain.

I got my dog from a farm (not a puppy farm) a little Jack Russell with a hint of Patterdale hence her chocolate brown coat, she was a little accident when the families 7 year old dog got out and had a bit of fun with a friends patterjack, she cost next to nothing and very well cared for, when we took her for her first vet check and vaccines the vet remarked what a healthy happy puppy she was, she's 2 in August, she was a devil to train and now she's a beautiful, well behaved little dog she is, she's healthy and happy and the vet cannot believe how healthy her coat is, just a little mixed breed who just likes to be a family pet and is very friendly, I've known people pay thousands and end up paying even more for very sick puppies, when will people learn not to buy these dogs, no demand means no supply.

Allergies, skin problems, spinal fuckery, neurological issues, stenotic airway, and, most recently, temperament problems. Yesterday i had one that was friendly and affectionate one second, then lunging aggressively at my face the next. There are too many breeders out there trying to cash in by pumping out as many puppies as they can, quality be damned.

We paid $500 a piece for each of our 2 female huskie sisters (
    - bought from a friend who was a breeder. (45 lbs fully grown ) and paid $700 each for our 2 female chocolate lab sisters. At the side of the road with alll AKC paperwork going back 15 years (110 lbs fully grown)
The two sets are only 1 year apart. I love all 4 with all my heart. I'll pay a lot to feed them ,but not too much to buy them, then have to feed them 😂

Nah.... make breeders a regulated industry. Quit letting everyone breed these dogs and overbreed them. Moms can only be bred so many times, you have to be licensed and inspected, and if you aren't, you spay and neuter your dog. There are way too many strays out there and too many back yard breeders, regulate it.

Got one of mine for free on a country back road, 7 years ago today! (He’s maybe 8-9 yo now) the other I spent $500 on because I had made a deal with the breeders as a kid that whenever I could afford one they’d give me a deal. 20 years later a pair of their German shepherds had puppies on my birthday. These two dogs had previously saved my butt from a tweaker who tried to jump me while I was walking them for their owners. They bit the mess out that dude and someone came and tackled him after I got the dogs off him. Police were called and dude was taken in.. I KNEW I had to have one of their puppies! I named my German shepherd “Ares” and he turned out to save my butt from my ex husband who was extremely abusive. Ended up biting (and holding) him on his shoulder until I made it to my car where I called him and he jumped in. Filed divorce after that. Ares hasn’t disappointed me, he even saved my son from a stray dog. I hope to have a good litter off him at the end of the year, I had him tested and he passed his hips/elbows and genetic screening. I could never see myself asking that much for a puppy or paying that much for a puppy, EVER!

@@pepsi914my xl american bully was $2300 but that was because we got her from a friend that is also a breeder, so we got a discount. She's the only dog I've ever bought from a breeder, all my other dogs have been rescues. My soul dog passed last year and he was a pittie mix that was my best friend for 15 years. Got him from the shelter in 2009! Best dog ever. However, when he passed, I rescued 2 pittie mixes from shelter. One had too many issues & couldn't be.l trusted around my toddler, and the other one didn't like my other male dog, and we tried for months, but didn't work. Was too dangerous to have my toddler around. I found both of them amazing homes and I still get updates on them from families. I wanted another bully breed, but didn't want to risk trying another rescue after 2 failed for our situation. We bought our xl american bully puppy, and she's the sweetest girl ever. She's grown up with my son and is 100 lbs at 9 months old but she's SO gentle with my 2 year old. We bought a puppy because her blood line is known to produce very sweet bullies. We got to meet the parents and know they both have amazing temperaments, I don't have to worry about her snapping on my son because we know her pedigree, and there are no known Rage/turning cases in it. When you have a child, especially a small one, and you want a pitbull or a bully breed, you have to be careful & I feel we made the right choice. I don't feel guilty about it bc I saved 2 shelter dogs!! In the future when I don't have young kids, I will rescue pitties again.

Of my 6, all were rescues, except my Rottie X girl. Shes a MOOSE, lol!! I needed a guard dog. A man was rehoming a litter of 9, in front of Walmart. The city "shelter" told him $20/puppy, to take them. This city (I live in New Mexico) is immensely corrupt. And the shelter is filthy. The dogs were bypassed that crap. The poor guy who had the puppies looked SO stressed that day, I felt bad for him and the puppies. He was so desperate 😪. So I went in Walmart, bought a large bag of puppy food, and some fruit for the guy. He had a drink. He kept trying to explain, that he fed them well, and I said, Dude, I can look at the puppies and see you did well 🤗😚.
Anyway, I chose a female puppy, who is part Rottie. HUGE feet, lol!! 6 months, and pushing 50#!! When I first brought her home, I thought, meh, 50-60#....uh huh 🤣🤣🤣 She'll probably end up around 90# 😳.

Last thing he wanted to do was get physical unless he had to. 15 years and had to put him down for his health problems recently. Just writing this for anyone whos saying "just go get a shelter pup!"
In also saying all this for those who wont pay the money for a pup but dont rescue either and decide to buy from backyard breeders. Backyard breeding is horrible and you end up w carriers, poor genetic and personalities.
Its like having autism and getting theropy yes it can help but you cant cure it. You can get an aggressive natured dog and train it but its still going to have a higher instinct and maybe higher prey drive.
Anyways heres some reasons why you may buy from a breeder instead of a backyard or pound.
    1. Showing dogs are more exoensive because theyre bread for looks
    2. Temperment - certain breeders breed them for certain things and some either breed aggression in or out of a dog.
    3. The breeder is probably very experienced
    4. I dont breed bullies but u breed long hair border collies and my pups sell for 12k EACH due to how my family has been breeding these for years.
Also you do also have to think "why are they in a shelter?" Some have bite records or are going to cost a heap in medical bills that isnt disclosed when adopting them and by the time you find out its probably to late to return them.
Just stating i have nothing against shelter dogs (i own 2 rabbits from a shelter, cat and farm dog - NOT FOR BREEDING) i love shelters and think tgat they all deserve homes but in saying that if a dog is extremely aggressive and on the older side i someone say it may be a bit late to train it out and it may should be put down. (my friends bully killed her baby even tho she was around. 5 months old so wasnt doing anything even near the dog.)

She was reserved one puppy from that generation and she spend $15,000 to get her beloved Baloo, a big a fully Tibetan Mastiff. She had him for three years before her own life was cut short but a stupid decision. She and I were very close, she was basically my sister. I love her so much, and miss her everyday but her family really angered me during her death proceedings because they did not keep her dog. They put Baloo up for adoption at the animal shelter because they couldn’t care for that big bear and I was so angry for years afterward because Haley waited seven years for her name on the waiting list, spent so much money and worked so many jobs that she hated just for Baloo. We went to the airport together to pick up this giant puppy, she cried when she finally held him and her family just threw him away. I offered to take him, I have a house and a large yard. They ignored my attempt to adopt him. I don’t know where he is not or if he’s alive but I think about Baloo a lot and the years worth of memories spent talking about him before he was even born, and the absolute happiness she had with him after he arrived. I miss you Haley, I’m sorry I don’t have Baloo.
