Gary Richrath guitar playing is what inspired me to learn to play guitar. 36 years later, I'm still at full swing, 4-5 hours a day. There is nothing I enjoy more than playing my guitar all these years later, all because of his guitar mastery on "You get what you play for." Thank you, REO!
To those of you who have NEVER played a musical instrument...oh well, this is missed on you. BUT !! (especially guitar enthusiasts) this freakin' guy was SO CLEAN...and that's what it's ALL ABOUT. Any scmuck can pick up a six string. But THIS clean???????? C'mon people. This dude was, uhhhhhhhhhhh, "proficient"...doncha think...or doncha??????????????
I can close my eyes and still see these guys on stage!!! 30+ years ago. I had a ball at this show!!! Once they went too mainstream(for me) I only saw them once more. Not as good. Oh well, still love them and FTT and GGS are my 2nd fav tune. (Golden Country)
The saying in Central Illinois is "REO isn't REO without Gary Richrath"..at the end of the one song Cronin screams, 'get it on, get it on Pekin!! That's my hometown. RIP Gary. We'll keep the Turkey Trottin' until we see you again.
Jennifer King Yea, Jennifer he is sadly missed. I love the saying and I have always said that myself Gary"s picking is so original and unique. He blazed his own trail. Love Ya Gary. You were the master of the Les Paul ♡♡♡
It's unconscionable that Epic released the "Live: You Get What You Play For" CD without "Gary's Guitar Solo" and "Little Queenie"!! Corporate douchebaggery!! MCA did the same thing releasing the Lynyrd Skynyrd "One More From The Road" CD without "T for Texas." 🤬
MCA eventually released it though. T For Texas and Travelin' Man were left off of the original CD release of One More From The Road. Just to keep it on a budget so they could fit everything onto one disc. 🙄
The 3:01 of mastery from Golden Country off this album is in the top 3 guitar solos of all time. This isn't great. But to hear him play live was an experience I was never able to enjoy. I hope all that did enjoyed it as much as I do posthumously.
