I love this channel. It’s so apparent you guys go the extra mile to brink us great content. Don’t think for a minute your attention to detail goes unnoticed; it stands out a mile. Thanks for your continued hard work. Please don’t stop !
Another great video guys on capturing those rare birds😃👍 BIG Congrats on the Praire warbler, Vesper sparrow, and especially the Kirtland's warbler! Way to go😊
I agree with your assessment of the Vesper sparrow, it is fairly "plain", with not many distinctive field marks, the eye ring, and that "plain" look, but those chestnut lesser coverts are pretty distinctive.
Good morning from Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR. Yesterday during my morning walk, I saw my first ‘LIFER’, a Yellow-streaked Greenbul. The problem is that this bird is found in eastern and southeastern Africa. I suspect that this bird may have been brought in and released illegally through smuggling, or released from a pet cage by owner, or blew in by seasonal trade wind. Please tell me what you think 🤔….much appreciated 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
What do you mean by your first lifer . Lifer is a bird you have never seen before so was this the first bird you have seen? Maybe you mean your first rarity ❤. ;)
That was wonderful! I recently saw a bird that ended up in southeast Alabama after a tropical storm. It was a social flycatcher which is also a lifer for me.
There are Kirtland's Warblers in Ontario, but apparently only two known breeding sites. Suitable nesting habitat sites have been created in Simcoe County in recent years.
First time seeing this kind of bird. It is NOT listed on the Hong Kong bird book NOR is it in their app. I have a strong feeling the app has not been updating for years, but I witnessed this bird with my own eyes for the first time. It’s a rare occurrence in Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR, and had never been sighted by anyone.
We have several species of Egrets nearby where I live in semi-rural area of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR around the shoreline promenade - Chinese Egret, Cattle Egret, Lesser Egret, as well as Greater Egret.
Congrats, guys! What a day! I missed out on a Prairie Warbler in the Chicago area a few weeks ago. Got to the area the day after I saw it was reported on eBird. But did get a lifer Blue Grosbeak in the same area!
Although I enjoy your channel, I have to admit I find that the obsession of some to find as many rare birds in a short amount of time as possible. I’ll forgive you because of your young ages

Congratulations on the lifer little gull, Derek! Y’all had quite a day! I really like the Kirtland’s warbler and the cinnamon teal is beautiful, too.

One of the fun things when birding is, trying to hear where the bird sound is coming before seeing them. Congratulations for finding beautiful birds.

Oh dang! Is it a bird commonly kept in the pet trade?

@@markshen3280 so it's the first bird you saw in Hong Kong?
Kirkland's warbler is probably gonna be a once in a lifetime species for me, but I don't think I'll ever forget that song.
At least it happened once!

@@Grateful_Dad_54 nice!
Interesting that the Kirtland warbler looked as if it had been ringed.
@@mobilestrike5182 it was! The population is heavily monitored here.
I got vesper sparrow and kirtland's warbler as lifers on the same day this past May in Michigan :)
It must be awesome to get to see all those wonderful birds, me, I get surprised just seeing a titmouse or common finch.
Congrats gentleman!
Thank you!
We will begrudgingly share our Kirtland's Warblers with Wisconsin. 😉
We will begrudgingly share them back 👀
How rare are Prairies in Badgerland?
Pretty rare, just a few passing through during migration each year
Derek when you had that Little Gull What were the other Gull's around that Bird .
Bonaparte’s Gulls!
❤
Is that a kiwi on your friend's jersey?
I think it is
Sure is!
Guess that's a pretty rare bird in Wisconsin as well.
@@AndrewGray-br1yp haha definitely!

You find the obsession... you did not say what you thought about it.
