I can't figure out why people hate on their clean vocals, they are haunting as hell.
Too whiny and jarring. Their albums without clean vocals are vastly superior

In the chorus, the way the dirty and clean vocals overlap and create the most perfect harmony of sounds - perfect enough to give me cold chills - is just unbelievable. It's a sound hard to achieve and that's one reason I have come to love this band.
Never had any song combined hope and despair together and made unspeakable beauty like this one.

Some "things" will echo for eternity. INSOMINUM is one of those things.
Very rarely do you have such a good contrast between clean & unclean vocals. The guitars are epic. The drumming fits this song perfectly. Truly an exceptional piece of art.

Haven't heard this guys in a while. They were my favorite band in highschool and their lyrics resonated with me.
Go see them live! They are touring!
Finally caught them live for the first time on the fourth try. Age restriction on the first two, then Covid. Saw them with Enslaved. To this day I swear the only thing that got me moving in the morning and kept me from off myself in highschool was Ephemeral. Didn't play it during their setlist, so now I have an excuse to see them again.
Insomnium and Dark Tranquillity, are on the top of melodeath.

Damn man,it brings tears to an old mans eyes,tears of pride amongst Finnish metal bands. The guitar solo takes me out from my livingroom,into depths of Finnish forests. Impressive!
How do you know a song is good? after you realize it's been on repeat for 5 hours and you can't stop litsening to it.
I remember hearing this when I was 15 first becoming a metalhead. I'm still a metalhead of course, but the memories are best when you first experience them.
Idk what some of these people are talking about. The clean vocals are done very well. His vocals are very conservative and reflect pure emotion (not winey crap). They add to the memorablity and overall enjoyablility of the song.

Insomnium has to be one of my top 5 favorites. You can never go wrong with melo death. Every melo death band I find, I love. There is never one band I will dislike.

What an absolutely emotional masterpiece. I'm so falling in love with this band. They are filling that melodic death metal hole that In Flames left behind after Clayman.

I think it's Insomnium's orchestration that sets them apart for me. In Flames, Be'lakor, Omnium Gatherum etc. all have great melody, but the dynamics and layers in Insomnium's songs put them over the top. Even when there are cleans, the growls are still present underneath. The base, rhythm guitar, and harmonized leads all complement to create an immense sound. Other melodeath bands write great songs, but lack the grandeur.
And then there's Wintersun. They take this to the next level.
