I'm making a PSA (public service announcement) for class. I got inspired by your videos and decided to make it about how they should teach basic sign language in school. It breaks my heart to see how people treat deaf people, so I'm making it in honor of all the deaf!

Hello! This just makes me think of the day I’ll be able to sign at a grocery store. The story is, there aren’t many people where I live who either are deaf or know sign language. Sense my grandpa is fluent in sign (he’s hearing), he’s teaching me. So he lives in Arizona, me Ohio. And there’s a deaf guy who shops at Fry’s every Sunday. So once I’ve learned enough sign, I plan to go with my grandpa and sign with the guy. I’m sure Ryan and Ellen know how comfortable it makes deaf or hard of hearing people when someone knows sign language. That’s also why I’m learning other languages. Make everyone happy is what I say.

Your hoodie design is awesome! I have fond memories of a math teacher in the late 70's teaching us ASL so we could communicate with a new student. This was a fundamental moment in my learning that people are very capable of accepting, adapting, and appreciating the differences among us. I may not remember much, but I can say "thank you" and that goes a long way in any language.

that's a good question Julie! I would say gesture if the situation was right. During this covid i think signing letter by letter is better so there's no miscommunication.

If you want cheaper almond butter a good tip is just to blend raw almonds(roasted for 10 min) There’s no need for any additives, with a good blender it could take less than 10min :) Hope this helps!

Here's a tip for masks!

You guys can try inserting a lil twist tie or wire between the cloth (you can cut a hole and sew it back, or cover with tape if you're pasting it). You can then bend it around the nose area to keep it from slipping down! Cheers and stay safe Sign Duo!! :)) 💓

A girl in our local area has been making masks designed so deaf individuals can still lip read. She makes a regular mask but uses a plastic insert for the middle instead of using cloth for the whole thing. Not sure if the plastic bit gets irritating but it is probably very helpful.

TJ's potstickers are the best! And I've been eating them in a similar way for years! I pan fry them in a little bit of olive oil first, to get them browned and crispy, heat up some of the Miso Ginger Broth and some either leftover or frozen veggies, and combine it all in a bowl. It's the perfect "I don't really feel like cooking tonight" meal and you can make as much or as little as you need if you want to feed just yourself or a family.

I never usually have anyone to use asl with, except for watching you all. But today I got to use it at the grocery store with an employee who was Deaf. I'm sure he didn't care, but for me it kind of made my day. Thanks for keeping my skills sharp so I can use it when I need to!

Not an expert or anything, but just by thinking about it, probably! Even if you don't sign, imagine moving your hands constantly! And switching around fingers and all 😓 I think you can get tired of signing just like how you can get tired of talking. 🤗

Question: my daughter and I are taking beginner sign language class through udemy and learning pronouns this week. If you have experience with transgender folks and their preferences in pronouns, what accommodations can be made with sign language? So many signs are gender referenced and I wondered how some gender based signs could accommodate they/them pronouns. Thanks for continuing to share your videos we love them!
for me, i'll often use signs in the middle of the face rather than forehead/ chin (which makes them gendered) e.g. for 'sibling' rather than 'brother' or 'sister' i'll do the same shape but from my cheek! instead of man/ woman or girl/boy, you can use person, instead of girlfriend/ boyfriend my teacher taught the sign for partner, which is the sign for 'share' and then 'person', stuff like that!
I was wondering about this too! My bff uses they/them pronouns and I was wondering if there were any options for them

Where you buy things separately and have to guess what something is based on texture alone (you can put the item in a box and carve a hole only the hand can fit through to touch, or blindfold) to guess what it is! I love watching your videos. My aunt is deaf and teaches my sister and I ASL. It is also kind of fun to try and follow along with the signs.
I’ve just finished my first year at SDSU as a Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences major with hopes to become an asl interpreter when I graduate. I LOVE your videos because they not only help me practice my asl, but they spread awareness. That’s why I want to be an interpreter. It’s important for hearing people to understand that Deaf Culture is so beautiful and inclusive, and needs to be acknowledged! I love you guys and the work you do. It means sooo much to me! It just makes my day every time you guys post a video! I finished my second year of asl now and every time I see another one of your videos I notice that I’m looking at the captions less and less! Thank you guys so much 💖

Hey guys! I found you about a week ago. I just love your format and I really love your honesty and openness about your life and how being deaf/hearing together is. I'm hard of hearing ( found when I was young) and I struggle to fit into either side (deaf or hearing). I really appreciated the one where you spoke about how it's not just a 2 boxes...there's a spectrum of hearing/non hearing levels. That is SO true. Anyway, you guys are awesome and I just wanted you to know how much I've enjoyed watching, and learning sign language from you. 💕

I love watching your videos & I love how you are with each other, your relationship is so nice to see. 😊 I've been using this time in quarantine to learn a few signs with my 3 year old who has Autism. His speech has actually come a long way now and is quite good but I've loved learning signs with him and it definitely helps him when he is frustrated and can't verbally express what he wants. 😊
