“bringing home a white boy” 😂
Ryan’s like “oh you know, our racial differences-“ and Ellen’s just like “yeah you’re white” 😂

I love how he was so unsure of how to phrase it then she just said it 😂
Can TOTALLY relate to the feeling of being “embarrassed” by things like lunches that are cultured, I feel like a lot of immigrant kids go through that :(
I used to get so embarrassed of my mums Japanese cooking for school meals. So strange others feel the same way... now I loooove it
Yeah, 納豆 (fermented soybeans) has such a strong smell and I was embarrassed when I brought it to school, so can definitely relate
Understandable, I’m not japanese but Korean. I’m proud of it and wouldn’t really be embarrassed but I know others would think it’s weird.
@@timdixon32 yeah maybe embarrassed not the right word but more self conscious haha! It was the first time I ever felt “different” especially as I am half scottish half Japanese
@@Moirasmith110 oh yeah definitely understand what you’re saying.
I just realized.. they both have dimples when they smile. And omg they would have THE CUTEST dimple-face babies.
i can’t deal with their cuteness as a couple
they’re literally the cutest
They are the cutest cuple
Yes, that is sooootrueee.

Most of us I think hehheh, they're so nice to watch

@@bisratamare3265 ?? I mean sure, but how does that relate to my question
tha fact that she learned sign language for him was so sweet😭👌
A silent voice is also a sign language movie in anime
Gangsta has a hard of hearing character that uses Japanese sign language
a silent voice is good and heartbreaking
I live in the same city the author (the original is a comic) of “A Silent Voice” was born. Her mother is a sign language translator. Many of the places in the movie exist. It is a small town and I’ve been to most of those places.
It would be so nice to see Sign Duo react to the movie!!!
Nooooooo
Bro that anime made me cry bru
Didn’t know that you’re Japanese American! I’ve been watching your vlogs from Japan:) I live in Japan as a wheelchair user so I’m always grateful for what you’ve done for raising awareness! Arigato.❤️
Yes I am! Haha that is funny. Thanks for enjoying our videos ☺️
6:57 "what...bringing home a white boy?" Lmaoo so blunt
Lol, yeah he talks about deafies being more blunt later in the video but Ellen was pretty blunt herself there, lol.
Aw thats the first time I have seen them kiss so cute :)
It actually looked like she didn't want to kiss j because she was like that's ok next question or something like that but they are still cute
@anissa 1997 Shia LaBeouf
I haven’t got to that bit yet but I feel like it’ll be like watching my parents kiss 😂 I hope not anyway 🤣
@anissa 1997 they've kissed b4 on camera when Ryan had surgery video
For those who don't know, you can turn on the caption on YT by pressing the "c" key on your keyboard. It's a nice little shortcut!
Hey, today I learned! Thanks!
Wow that’s cool!
wow !
Question for Ryan: when you dream, how do the subjects of the dream communicate? Is there a lot of ASL used in your dreams? (I'm not sure if this was covered in a video before, so this may be a repetitive question)
I’d also like the answer to this! I would imagine that would be the case since it’s a visual language 🤔
Personally I never feel like there’s any language in my dreams, it’s dream language hahaha
i was also gonna ask thats, if things in the dream communicate by speaking, is he able to interpret it?
But in some dreams, deaf people find they don't need lip reading or have to worry whether people know sign language. In many of their dreams, everyone knows ASL or communicates through a sort of telepathy where everyone simply knows instantly what everyone else is trying to say. Got this from Google a while ago, and I’m glad it could be used.
@@KellysShrimp language please :(
@bluebxrry Mhm!
I almost forgot that Ryan is deaf because the more i watch your videos the more i can understand Ryan without reading the CC. You guys are really a cute couple and all the best for both of you!
I'm so happy our videos are helping you not need the CC. Thank you 🙃
I actually started using skillshare with your code and am taking the sign language beginners course! I've had a lot of fun asking my family to give me random easy words and see if I know how to sign it 😋
That's so awesome that your family is there for you while you learn sign language. 😁
One when Ellen said the last question the way it’s signed in ASL I was so confused and then remembered that the words aren’t in the same order, so props to her for always being able to speak normally and sign in ASL at the same time😯
I didn't even notice the first time! Yeah, she really does.
I was wondering why she did that, now it makes sense!
Yeah, it's like tapping your head and rubbing your stomach and walking backwards all at the same time to speak English and sign ASL simultaneously. I prefer to do one at a time.
I don’t speak my culture’s language either, but growing up kinda around it, it’s comforting to be around ^^ I found someone who unveiled that feeling so well
what's your culture's language? :)
@@jf5419 Spanish or Taishanese^^
My friend doesnt know much spanish and her family is mexican but i always see here smiling and having a great time in mexican restaurants or trying out some mexican foods
The same with me as an African American, my ancestors migrated and got stolen and took here so I don’t know how to speak my native language.
@@TheRealTact no ur brothers sold you off u weren’t stolen
I love ellen's outfit!
Aw thank you! ☺️
My dad always brought he botan rice candy home from business trips. My sister and I bought some for my niece and she didn't believe she could eat the wrapper. She thought we were playing a joke on her 🤣
I’ve been watching you guys for a couple years now but I just noticed that one of the reasons why i love your videos is because they help me relax (which id hard for me with PTSD). I think its a combination of your soothing demeanors, the quietness, and the need to focus on the subtitles and facial expressions. So thank you!
I get goosebumps when I watch them. This is so beautiful... This gives me hope in real love. I wish you guys the best together and all the happiness in the world!
You guys are great. A lot of people could learn a great deal about individual and cultural differences from you two. So many people have such toxic relationships, letting differences tear them apart. It is refreshing to see people who can not only accept, but embrace the differences between them. Quite mentally healthy, and extraordinarily rare.
Thank you. That's really kind of you to say 🥰
Just so you know, Ryan, Ellen has a beautiful voice, it's so calming and sweet. Love u guys❤️❤️
That golden hour down on Ellen.
Thank you 🥰
I love Japanese culture, so this is interesting.
You two are an adorable couple! Happy New Year!
Thank you for sharing another glimpse - we love you guys!!
Nice to see you back on UA-cam
I like this video a lot. Thanks for sharing your experiences and thoughts Ellen 😊
thanks for sharing, Ellen! gosh now I'm craving some rice candy, I found about it from my local Daiso and love it.
I just wanted to say I found this channel a week or two ago in my recommended and I’ve watched so many of your videos already, you guys are such a great couple and thank you for opening us up to the world of dead culture. It’s really made me inspired to learn even just the basics of sign language so I can communicate with people who can’t hear I think it’s really important.
Very interesting video! Loved it!
Love from Portugal
They seem extra happy in this video. You can feel the love radiating through the video. Also the end clip of the duck was nice lol
As someone who has learned ASL on and off for my whole life. I love watching y'alls channel so much!
You guys are such a perfect couple, you look so happy being with each other and listening to each other and your videos always warm my heart 🤟😁💕
as always, i enjoyed your video! but i enjoy this one especially because i'm asian american and relate a lot to Ellen's experience! :)
sending love from Boston!
You guys are GLOWINGG under the sun🤩🌞 // btw i learn sm from this channel also yall seem so real and down to earth😭😭 im so glad i found this channel 🥰 keep doing what u are doing💗💗 much love
This is so cute and sweet!! I hope you guys can do more videos discussing your Japanese culture (:
I just found your channel yesterday, I’m so so in love with you both already and all the content you both have taken the time to put out. This is An amazing learning experience for so many people and it’s inspired me to learn sign language so I can better communicate with deaf/hard of hearing individuals! Thank you both so much for sharing your lives with UA-cam community! god bless❤️
You guys are so real and I appreciate it
Really liked this mini vlog!!✨ you guys are so cute!🙈 🤍
For some reason, watching you guys gives me solace and it feels comforting!! You guys are a beautiful couple!!💓
This video was too cute 🥰 I’m glad Ryan acknowledged nervousness when it came to meeting Ellen’s parents. He must have felt like he needed to be so gentle. Haha!
I don’t often understand what you guys are signing but there’s something kind of mesmerizing about your communication through sign. Thanks for sharing videos like this, it’s really cool to see life through your perspective! Take care! 👋 ❤️
It's wonderful to see you both express, discuss, experience and share your cultures! Makes me wonder what deaf culture is like in Japan and what similarities and differences it has with American deaf culture!
I love watching & learning about all things you. Thank you for sharing with us!
Just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago! I've spent the past year learning sign language, and I'm Japanese American too! I adore all of your content. Thank you for sharing!
I love you guys! It's always exciting to watch you guys answer questions. Also, I love your choice of background today! The geese and ducks, and the pond were relaxing to watch lol
Thanks so much!!
I can't stop crying Everytime you guys are together
I just want to say thank you for not feeding those geese. A lot of people tend to give them bread or other things that aren't good for them, and it can get stuck inside their beak or in their throat, or cause health problems and bone deformities (such as 'angel wing').
@Charlie D I know I was thinking the same thing it can make them sick
ummm go off Charlie
@@jacobocarvajal8291 excuse me they did good you go off
I didn't know that! Thanks so much for sharing! I love coming across useful advice like this randomly online. Personally, I never feed the geese because I'm terrified of them and wouldn't get close anyway lol. Now that I know it's not good for them, if I'm ever able to overcome my fear in the future I'll remember to still be careful not to feed them. Thanks kind stranger!
In the UK we were told to stop feeding the ducks bread but then their population went down as they were pretty dependent by that point, I guess it can be a 2 sided coin and may need a while to transition if it's an area where they are fed mostly by humans!
wow this was so relaxing to watch. and also loved all the questions !!
So cute! Loved your questions and answers!
You guys seem so in love in this video and I'm here for it!
thanks for sharing ellen 🥺🥺 i can definitely relate as an asian american!
✨😄 👏
awe i just turned on the subtitles because I didn’t know it could do that. But you guys are such a sweet couple I love this ❤️
I've been watching you guys from the beginning of last year's lockdown and I watched a video today and I understood a good portion of Ryan's signing without captions. I felt so proud of myself ((I'm learning ASL) . Keep making videos and thanks for sharing.
Much love from a tiny island in the Caribbean🇱🇨🇱🇨💛💛💛
That’s so amazing! You’re a very fast learner. In our everyday life we don’t encounter many people who understand sign, so to know you learned enough to understand our videos makes me so happy 😁-E
@@SignDuoChannel I wouldn't say fast..I just got obsessed and being on lockdown gave me extra time. I'm glad I started though I appreciate the language more... Have a great night guys🤘🏿🤟🏿

I'm Chinese-Hawaiian, this was an awesome video and I enjoyed it very much. The part with the zooming ducks was so funny (5:00) Thank you for your channel even if you haven't uploaded in a while! I hope you are having your best lives with your wedding etc.

Thank you, Anthony
I graduated from Sonoma state university in the 80's. First roommate in the dorms was from Japan. Because of her I met every person from Japan. I also learned how to count and a bunch of Japanese words. Forgot most of it but still remember a tiny bit.
Jeez you boomer
Great video, you guys! I really enjoyed it.
My mom recently got Skillshare so my family is using it now. My Mom does calligraphy, I do guitar and my sister and I both do that ASL class. It's great, awesome price too!
That's awesome! Yeah, it's so amazing how many classes you can take. I'm happy your whole family is getting value from it. 😊
Botan Rice Candy!!! I feel so happy whenever I see it!
This is a super cool video for me cause I am also 3rd generation!!! On my dads side. I immediately recognized Botan Rice Candy when you picked them up! And I forgot about those Ramune candy!! Lol.. 🤣 I am so glad so many people are visiting Japan and having a beautiful experience. I grew up learning how to read/write/speak Japanese, but haven't been able to use it much outside of school. I have decided to start studying again at home, and hope I can use it to communicate better to some of my extended family I haven't really hung out with before. 🇯🇵🇺🇸 Thank you so much for sharing 💖 even though it wasnt the point of this video, it filled me with the love I have for my heritage and encouraged me to move forward with studying 💖🇺🇸🇯🇵💖🇺🇸🇯🇵💖🇺🇸🇯🇵 ありがとう!
I love how you both share real everyday interaction & what could have been done or offer additional interactive options. What about Ryan's family, are they deaf or hearing & how do they feel about your culture sharing?
Happy to see a Sign Duo video on my feed today!! Hope both of you and your families had a great Christmas and New Years. Keep being awesome!!
Thank you! I hope you had a great Christmas and New Years too 😊
Also love the ramune candy!
I’m watching through your guys channel and I just love how u guys interact. I’m learning asl and at this point I can almost no cc and this is way better then any classes I ever took ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Omg you guys are just the best! You should do tutorials!!
this viet american definitely relates to middle school/elementary school kids being turned off by my school lunches! in high school there were so many more kids willing to try new things and share w/ me and it made me a lot more confident in my culture.
Aaaaaw the ending was so sweet!
Great video!
Oh that was such a warm and cute video 🥺
This video was so relaxing.
OMG I remember those Asian candies from my childhood!!! I remember having the rice candy in the car when I’d go to my local Asian market. I’m glad that I got to see a video like this.
This was really nice to see on your channel! I grew up getting a lot of those same snacks from Mitsuwa. It's like a little slice of home.
I used to eat the rice paper candy when I was little. I like Hi-chew candy too. Your videos are very informative and interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Oh yes i love hi-chews, the green ones are my favorite
Finally new video! I love your videos! Love you 🥰
I liked these questions! And it was cool to see Ellen just signing rather than voicing

Just discovered you guys. Love it! It would also be nice to meet both your parents as well. It's great to personally know you guys but sometimes parents have a different perspective as well that could give insight into you guys that you probably don't see. I'm sure they're great as well.
