Seeing these buses brings back so many memories. Taking the Volvo B10Ms to JB with the family, riding the Dennis Lance with my grandmother (she complained how high they were and how hard it was to climb in 😂) and seeing the non air-con Volvo Olympians plying to and fro Tuas outside my house. Whenever I went out with my parents/grandparents, I always insisted taking buses over the MRT and I don’t regret it considering how many different models we rode on (which is impossible to do now since SBS & SMRT have a less diverse fleet and the MRT still runs with the same models then and now lol)
Back then 242 before route truncation was the feeder with highest DD percentage (like before 241 was even a thing) 240 was around half DD only 243G had none before St 61 St 62 turn was widened 243W only had a few 243 was O405 B10BLE LO3X VO3X Then 951 had no bendies - only when it became 180 😂
Most of these pics take me back man. Seeing those bus pics like the 151 Mk2 for years made me feel as if they never left. I could faintly remember my NAC bus rides and especially the SBS O405s.
despite me being from this era, i found about 8031J and it was literally love at first sight for me. i reslly love the older MANs in general, and it definitely needs more love. similar and newer 18.280 HOCL-NL A84s (gemilang bodied like kub) can be found in KL. if sbs actually bought a batch of this, their voith would be bloody strong and whiny by now finally someone who knows about the rectangular transparent handgrips on the cdges! loved those as a toddler, would always sit at the middle seats just so i could “play” with them i will always love 138Y. smrt could have used this MCV bodywork on their first batch of A22s. adds a bit of variety. always wished i could have ridden on 1688K and 2888T while they were running, it was too late when i found out they existed managed to catch 2990E on 175 before retirement tho just my thoughts lol
