I'm confused about the hearing about Mr Olson does that judge really believe that in jail or prison that he is not going to be exposed to drugs? I have never been to either but from what I see and hear there's a worse drug problem in the prisons in the country
This is why Judge Bryant is my favorite. Not to say other judges don’t care, because they do, but she only ever cares about the people and not the case number.
The judge with the drunk driver said exactly what we're all thinking whenever these drunk drivers get off on little to no charges. It's sick how often it seems to happen.
That was why many, many, many, years ago MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving was formed) Because under the laws at that time, a drunk would get off of multiple DUI's that could or had caused deaths and permanent injuries. It was just excused as being drunk meant you weren't responsible for your actions. Almost the same as insanity.
let me say this, I have been convicted for 2 DWIs in the past. Almost 25 years ago. But I took responsibility for it, I plead guilty and I paid for it, and they were also 7 years apart. Not back to back. I have no sympathy for this guy at all. Not with his track record. He deserves everything he has coming to him.
My Brother died an alcoholic. My oldest friend died from heart and alcohol related problems near the start of this year. M next oldest friend was just diagnosed with dimentia, brought on by his years of heavy drinking. I have no sympathy for drunks anymore at all. I am all cried out for them. The only tears I have left are for their victims.

I wish we were as strict on driving under the influence as Germany is. There is zero tolerance for anyone under 21, or a person who has their license for less than 2 years. Levels are as follows. Professional drivers BAC is .03% or higher, in conjunction with another traffic offense or accident, .05% otherwise. For cyclists it is .16%, with the same penalties as other vehicles. Penalties start at 500 Euro and 1 month suspension, and all fines are based on your disposable income. Anyone over .11% Min 500 Euro, and up, based on your disposable income. You will then have your license revoked for 6 months. After that time you do not automatically get it back, but have to reapply and retest. In certain areas you must not only reapply, but get permission to get a new license. That permission comes if you pass a Medical Psychological Assessment. For a second offense, or more, the penalties double, triple, or higher. One of those penalties is to never again be allowed to get another license. They are a lot more serious over there about DUI than we are. They can do this because of their public transportation system, and the fact that many people live near their work. As a smaller country, it is far easier to get around without a license, but to me that should not matter. It is your own choice to get behind the wheel. Sorry I am teaching, but this subject gets to me.

Can a judge hold someone in contempt for leaving court? If so, she should have. On his 5th dui, and all he got was fines. That's crazy. Holding him in contempt would be justified but also give her a reason to throw his butt in the slammer for a little while.
