🤗🤗. Got my hot ginger and lemon tea ready just in Time this early morning for more adventures at Cog Hill Farms. I’d be out working the garden but have lost voice again from Santa winds and drastic temperature changes. Squeaking like a mouse and fever not make outside work comfortable AND now comes the much needed rain. Got a lot of rain for a week or so and Lord knows we need to end this drought. Wells are drying up and we as taxpayers have to help pay to seal them up. We take water seriously here and even cleaning buckets and troughs it’s dumped on trees especially. Not much in our water table so roots pop up looking for any moisture. Your area maybe swampy but at least the water flows. Know you be glad to have your newly leveled area begin to dry up so the REAL work can begin. Our area is similar to yours but higher and more Mediterranean. Hard freeze comes later mainly as a surprise and helps most fruit trees especially apple and pomegranate. Our broccoli loves the cold interplanted with cauliflower and spinach and herbs. If freeze last too long then we put a sheet over it loosely. Never had a problem even in large containers. All our carrots grown in huge tubs and thin out as we eat them with huge harvest of enormous long carrots in the Spring. Never enough of kohlrabi once we tried it and easy to store. Do you have a root cellar? We still have squash over a year now as we bury all roots in sand. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the grandma of the house and she’s eating a real good meal. Sometimes it’s best not to tell them what something new is and maybe not even then especially if they like it. A white lie okay to make them eat healthier. Can’t believe the surprise seeing a baby chick for the new year. Good mommas hard to find with a gentle nature. Exciting news you have for a “bag” garden to help feed others in need or just want something more fresh and different. We all need to help as many as we can as with this virus. We need to find a way to clone MC so she can spread her knowledge and share her huge heart with the rest of the world. Her love of flowers needs to be all over the place so she can continue to take pictures and even dry and press them. I make large framed pictures just using the flowers. Sprinkle a little sand in containers to really keep them good and dried. Some of mine are 40 years old and have precious memories. Well I probably have written way too much but when ya feel comfortable it’s easy cuz all the memories locked away pops up just cuz your video. Loved everything about the video and seeing a little sun ☀️. Just like Peaches it’s time to start on the tan. Hope Nugget very careful zooming on the new plowed area. Could sprain or break a leg real easy. I know you have been having a hard time with germination. I've had a lot of experience with organic gardening and had a great way to speed up germination. I would take a square of paper towel wet it with warm water, spread you seeds, cover them with the other half of the paper towel and slide it into a plastic bag. Put it in a warm place and check it daily. As soon as you see the little root poking out transfer it to your pots and cover it lightly. Be sure to have your soil wet. Good luck and I hope this works as well for you as it always did for me. I love your channel and all your special animals especially nugget. I've preserved corn two ways: the whole cob and then cut off, blanched, and frozen on wax paper on baking sheets. Then once frozen, I placed the frozen kernels in freezer bags. I will tell you, I'll never freeze the whole cob again. 1) they take up a lot of room in the freezer 2) the kernels were rubbery to me (I did not blanch the cobs before freezing) 3) I had to use the entire cob 4) They need to be thawed if you are going to cut off the kernels. With the individual frozen kernels in the bag, I pour out whatever amount I want and then return the bag to the freezer. I preferred the texture of the individual kernels and I did not have to thaw them. Yes, it is more work up front, but to me the whole cob was more work in the end. Just some thoughts.
