- Here's a quick rotation video showing off Gunbreaker's level 100 Standard Opener and Rotation!
The Gunbreaker guide I referenced guide I referenced is on the Balance:

My GCD timer is 2.40s, which is one of the possible skillspeeds to run. It has the easiest rotation out of all skillspeeds.
Come hang out with me!

PATCH 7.1 UPDATE: Hi guys, in Patch 7.1, Gunbreaker's Double Down will only require 1 cartridge instead of 2. Because this affects the cartridge economy, Gunbreaker's rotation will change quite a bit. I'll release a new video when The Balance mentors have found the proper rotation for this new system. For now, this will be a nice piece of history. :)
The way I've learned GNB is No Mercy and Bloodfest double weaved in the '2' of the 123, followed by Gnashing Fang, and the rest, with Sonic Break done before I continue the combo, ending with Lionheart combo.
As long as everything is within raid buffs, it's all good! Issue with ending with Lionheart is that it has the possibility of falling out of raid buffs if people start to misalign their stuff, or you start drifting your burst.
If you wait to use Sonic as the last GCD in the window you risk losing your buffed dot to any amount of downtime. A striking dummy is whatevs but a real boss won’t let you wait like that. For the even minute windows I get that you don’t really have a choice since you wanna finish lionheart no matter what but on odd minutes, there’s no reason to delay it.
You’re right, that’s why I always suggest people to refer to the guides and use my videos as a reference point. Sonic has many intricacies, and there are situations where you might even want to use it as the first GCD in burst, but it’s too much to cover in this short text based video. I would have ended up covering the entire screen with text, which defeats the point of this rotation video. That said, what I suggested in the video is still the most general approach to using Sonic, as situations where you need to shift it are very niche. In this tier alone, there’s only downtime in one fight, so you’re not really losing much (if you discount kill times).
gnb looks so floaty
You mean in terms of gameplay or animations? 😂
@@omupenguin the animations
idk maybe it feels better in game.
it reminds me of rdm melee combo
Hmm we do float in the air for a considerable amount of time for Double Down, and the entire Lion Heart Combo… maybe that’s why haha
It's because it's dripping style

I think it's still better to line sonic break with blasting zone, bow shock to gnash combo like it's rotation in EW, lion heart + blood fest+ gnash combo still fit within no mercy duration
I think as long as all your hard hitting buttons are used under No Mercy you’re doing good. That said, for DT you want to use Sonic Break last most of the time is so that your Hyper Velocity doesn’t fall out of No Mercy. There are also other considerations for where you want to use Sonic Break that I didn’t cover in the video, but they’re quite niche imo.
That said, I’m not sure if this was a thing back in EW, though I’d imagine Sonic Break became more flexible because it’s no longer tied to having its own cooldown.
I am not the best gnb player but I hate how its affected so much by timing majority of the time I end up drifting the combo off to the abyss. Is it ever worth trying to realign no mercy back with burst window past 2 gcd? I find m4s quite difficult since there are so many downtime points often leading me drifting away from the standard burst combo
(Not a GNB main, the balance might give you a better answer, but imma give you an answer based off my experience playing this game at a relatively high level)
I think you want to always use No Mercy on cooldown, regardless of whether you have to use lightning shot, because the whole point is to keep your burst window aligned with the rest of the party. Even if your stuff keep drifting, you want to still use your cooldowns right as they come up, otherwise you might end up losing a use (or more) throughout the fight, which leads to even more damage lost. I’d say the only time it’s worth considering realigning your No Mercy is if it drifted by a total of 50s or something (which really shouldn’t happen in the first place).
Uptiming this tier is hard, but it’s definitely doable. GNB’s burst is relatively flexible, so you can try and shift things around if your GCD cooldowns start drifting.
Going 2.40 like in this vid will be more forgiving than 2.50. However with all the extra cartridges you have left after 2 min no mercy you can throw a lot of lightning shots before u get fucked
i have gnb question, when bloodfest is coming up, do you:
empty all 3 catridges then refill with bloodfest > double down+gnashing fang or
used accumulated 3 catridges for double down and gnashing fang combo then bloodfest afterward?
Use them for DD and GN, then bloodfest, you'll be able to get a burst strike under NM as well.
I wouldn't take advice from someone who buys ultimate clears though.
In almost all scenarios (where you have 100% uptime and don’t drift your gnashing and DD), you want to do the latter. There are probably scenarios where you want to do the former, but if you’re still learning GNB it’s best to just learn how to do the proper standard rotation for most fights first.
@qwerty-dm8gr damn guess I owe my static mates money then :(
Question how do you even remember this rotation?
All FF jobs play similarly at the most fundamental level: Press your buttons immediately off cooldown, and you're good. Having played GNB back in Eden's Promise and UWU also help so this video was a lot easier to execute compared to some other jobs. As I always tell others, if you're having trouble executing the rotation, break it down!
For GNB, here's how I would break it down:
- Your priority should be to use Gnashing Fang and Blasting Zone off cooldown. Since they're both 30s cooldown, just hammer into your muscle memory to press them together.
- Going into your no mercy windows (ie. your odd and even minute bursts), you want to go in with 3 catridges because you need to use 1 for Gnashing Fang, and 2 for Double Down. Following up on this, remember to always use Double Down after Gnashing Fang. Bow Shock also has a 60s cooldown, so you can pair Bow Shock with Double Down.
- The rest of your burst window is just about doing as much damage as possible, so use Burst Strike whenever you can while No Mercy is running.
- Your even and odd minute windows are almost the same. The start is the same, and only difference is after you spend all your cartridges, you want to refill them using Bloodfest. And after that, you want to use your big burst buttons, ie. Lionheart Combo.
- When you're still learning the rotation, don't worry too much about where to use Sonic Break. Just use it before No Mercy ends so you waste the least amount of damage. You can worry about using it to optimise your damage after you're more familiar with the rotation.
Hope this helps!
