- We can stomp on Goombas and Koopas all day long, but Mario has encountered some pretty tough bosses. For this list, we’ll be looking at the toughest fights Mario has had to endure. However, we’re only looking at the main series, no spin-offs. Our list includes Fiery Gobblegut from “Super Mario Galaxy 2” (2010), Phantamanta from “Super Mario Sunshine” (2002), Knucklotec from “Super Mario Odyssey” (2017), and more! I didn't have trouble beating bouldergeist
Knucklotec was just a piece of cake both first time and rematches and on hard mode it's easier

Phantamanta was and will always be my worst enemy.
Fiery Dino Piranha use to be my worst nightmare to defeat as a kid. But now as an adult it’s actually a piece of cake and quite fun.

The same can be said for all the bosses listed. Not three days ago, I fought Bowser ("in the sky") just because, and it was nothing.
Mecha Bowser is super easy. It’s the dang balloon popping level on the roller coaster that is the real frustrating part from that world.
That is mecha bowser…
The eely mouth boss is still one of the most challenging bosses for me in mario sunshine... I hate having to look for coins to regenerate air.
@@ryangraham8197 no it’s 2 separate shines. One is defeating the mech bowser the other is where you have 3 laps to pop the pink balloons. Like top comment said, the pink balloon shine is very difficult

The harder these boss battles get, the more exciting it gets. I very much enjoy fighting against lots of tough Super Mario bosses.
I think the final bosses in the Mario & Luigi series were pretty tough.

With the right badge combination, Dreamy Bowser's fight can be turned from a fight into a massacre. And it's not Mario or Luigi that's getting massacred.
I think the Broodals on the moon in Odyssey were harder than some of these bosses only because you have to fight one after another without much of a save or recharge. Individually they were not too bad but one after another became quite a task.

its only hard because of the low gravity, the bosses themselves are easy its just landing the hit before the timer for their weak spot being revealed goes away thats hard
Phanatmanta, although hard, was so much fun to play and beat. I used to go back and challenge that boss again and again.
Sunshine just hit different, in general. Such an unforgettable classic in the series.

Phantamanta is back but it's not in a Mario game
I genuinely disliked Super Mario Sunshine and with every attempt at getting comfortable with the game I've grown even more tired of it. Only few gameplay elements did I actually enjoy. Phanatmanta is definitely the coolest of them all. It actually portrays and utilizes the potential of the Nozzle mechanic very well.

I agree, was coming into the comments to say this. That battle was so memorable and fun I remember playing it to death as a kid. I never thought it was hard.
Played it again recently as an adult and still found it easy. The trick is to just grab the coins as they pop up, and use the hoover nozzle when you get cornered to splash a landing.

This list came at a perfect time. I literally just beat Bouldergeist from Super Mario Galaxy in the daredevil comet mode and man, it took so many tries! I felt so accomplished when I managed to get the star! Super Mario games are the best!

Bouldergeist isn't as bad as the daredevil comet for ghost ship or Major Burrows
For what it’s worth, Bowser from the NES Super Mario Bros. was THE hardest. I was 8 years old. My heart was racing. My palms were sweaty. My focus was intense. It took me an entire weekend to navigate World 8. This was before I knew of the warps. I screamed when I finally cut the bridge. Then was told no more video games for the next week. Great times!

About Super Marto 64 Bowser's final fight, you forgot to mentioned one little detail: he spit red and blue flames and the blue fire persues the player, try avoid that in the reduced arena kkkkkkkkkkkkk

Lol, I think Meowser in Super Mario 3D World isn't tough at all. You just have to stay in the middle of the screen and wait for Meowser to appear at the top or the bottom of the screen and then climb or slide down. I even get bored because the screen scrolls so slowly. And I'm always waiting until I can finally hit the POW Block at the top of the tower and end the fight.
That stupid manta ray killed me who knows how many times.
Please do the 10 best final boss tracks from the Sonic games, because “I’m Here,” “What I’m Made Of,” “With Me,” and all the others are great.
Kuncklotec at least to me is a badass boss. And I've never had problems with him. Sometimes I only take 1 hit of damage
Daredevil comet version of Bouldergeist is definitely the one that stands out to me. I've beaten all the Mario games many times and that was the only really tough boss fight.

I always loved that Fiery Gobblegut is a secret star because once you do it the first time you have no idea it’s one of the hardest fights in the series lol
I don’t know if this would count but the final boss in Mario and rabbits kingdom battle was a nightmare to beat. Took me a good week

Phanta Manta was the bane of my existence for so long. It took me leaving the game for years before I finally came back to It and won.. Satisfying in the end but oh so frustrating
I loved the Mecha Bowser fight I used to fight it again and again
When I was younger i was stuck on bowser in galaxy for at a minimum of 2 years because I didn’t realise you had to bait him into Jumping on that lava pad thing
Bouldergeist used to be horrifying when I first faced that boss. Now it's easy for me.

Plot twist on all Mario games.... Mario is a serial killer, and Peach is the one who got away. She hires Bowser for protection against Mario. Whenever you hear Peach scream out "Mario!", she isn't yelling for you to help save her... She's warning Bowser that the sick sadistic serial killer Mario is getting closer to catching his victim who got away. 😂

I found Fiery Dino Piranha pretty easy as I got good at the timing, but Fiery Gobblegut was such a hard boss!

I never really found Bouldergeist to be super difficult. When I was little I had a little bit of trouble fighting him but even then it wasn't too bad
Yea his attacks are easily dodged and he’s pretty easy to attack imo
The stingray boss in sunshine made me quit and I've never returned
King boo in Luigi’s mansion though it may be a spin off game arguably might be one of the toughest bosses in mario history
Bowser Jr.'s mech in SMG2 was a fucking nightmare. Stayed stuck on that shit for months...
I didn't see it stated here, but in the final phase of Baby Bowser in Yoshi's Island, if you don't hit him fast enough, he will continue to run towards you until he runs through the entire stage (or what remains of it anyway), destroying all of it and instantly killing you. It definitely adds tension, along with a time limit.
I don’t think anything will top the sunshine electric mantas. That’s the only thing in this list I had to try more than 5 times as a kid to beat. Even the final level of super Mario sunshine only took me two attempts and 64 final bowser battle was first try. Imo beyond that the only harder bosses are in the RPGs, like the shadow queen or any M&L final boss. I never struggled in Galaxy or odyssey or even barely in sm3Dw. Granted as an adult now I can beat the phantamanta pretty easily, but as a kid, that level was unbeaten for months. I was so excited to play the rest of that world.
From super Mario galaxy, my worst nightmare used to be Digaleg, the big mech that bowser jr put his grand star in

I'm surprised even one mario sunshine boss made the list. They're all SO easy, those 2 you mentioned would e the easiest, the mecha bowser fight was actually so fun lol. And I didn't play 3d world, didn't know bowser would be a weird furry 😂😂

I find Knucklotec to be a fairly easy boss.
8:15 is extremely easy if you just go and stand under the hut, they cannot travel there and will keep coming to you, they will travel on top of the hut.
I don’t find Mecha Bowser to be that difficult to be honest.Sometimes you might have to use a missile to stop the bullets but FLUDD works as well
phantamanta with only using the first form of jet is just impossible, well it's possible but it take WAAY to long to finish when you can just switch on the second form and spray her safely.
To this day I still haven't beat Bouldergeist with the dare devil comet

Apparently Baby Bowser's boss fight in Yoshi's Island would've given him a design that more evoked adult Bowser, but it seems it was cut for being too scary.

Let’s be honest here. Mario games don’t have hard bosses. Sometimes the end bowser levels can be challenging but definitely not hard where it will take you more then 10 tries😊

You didn't even mention the worst part of the fight against Fiery Gobblegut. Sure, he leaves lava pools behind, but those are easy to avoid. The _really_ hard part is that Fiery Gobblegut is, well, on fire. You can't even touch him except at his bellyache bulges, and every time you do, you take fire damage, which takes a few seconds for Mario to recover from. By the time he does, you've missed your chance at damaging the boss.
This fact alone is what made Fiery Gobblegut rage-inducing for me. It wasn't the lava pools; it was the type of damage Mario took every time he touched Fiery Gobblegut. It drove me crazy! I did manage to beat him, but it was really annoying!
I can’t be the only one who never had trouble with bouldergeist or the phantamanta bosses…there’s tougher bosses in each game imo
Took me over 50 tries to beat bolderguist and that includes the dare devil comet version absolutely horrible

I always find the Kamella rematch on the ghost ship in Mario galaxy super hard with the small platform to work with. Not normally but on daredevil it is a bitch.

Ok so I love never played Yoshi's story and Mario Odyssey so idk how easy or tough the boss fights are but fiery Dino piranha, NSMB Bowser, and the bouldergeist in SMG2 fights are annoying but the others are fairly easy especially the robo Bowser fight in SMS.

Knuckle tech was so easy because you just had to punch him in the face when his hand hurt it's just that the battle at peach's castle is harder and meowser I beat him in 2 trys it's just that I fell off the building the first time cause I went to the back and lost grip
