Nice work Tom, a ‘supposedly’ impossible repair, well done. 👍 Just goes to show that nothing, well, almost nothing, is ‘impossible’ with enough thought, and expertise, and time, and determination involved. Just thought you might also, like to know that I’m viewing your channel, from Australia, and so you can add the Land, ‘Down Under’ to your own growing list of ‘International Audience’ viewers. Also, just a little tip, not so much for you, but to maybe help out your channel’s other, viewers, a little. Whenever I need to source an odd size O-Ring I always head down to my local ‘Bearing Supply Shop’ and those Guys are always enormously helpful and have always been able to provide me with any, size O-Ring, that I have ever needed. Keep up your good work. 😉👍
I have a local bearing shop also, Bearings Marketing in Sarasota, I never thought to ask them about O-Rings, I get all sorts of seals from them even for special duty, but O-rings, no. I'll have to ask. Thanks.
Thanks. The viewer who sent it in, provided a source out of the UK (I think it was) who sold these weird O-Ring gaskets. I put an order in for a couple and never heard back again. Wasn't worth the time following up. So I figure they're truly unobtanium now, but who knows.
Oh man, these are a pain in the ass, I rebuilt mine to fix a really bad fuel leak. Had to tap threads where the rivets went and make a new gasket, thankfully didnt have to replace the rotating ball seal, neither the axis o-ring... Will finish watching the vid later. Edit: I see you basically did the same except I made my gaskets with a 3D printer. My VFR carb gaskets are also 3D printed and its awesome you can reuse them over and over.
Very nice job, Tom. I'm going to email NPR in a couple of weeks to check the status of the Royal Mail situation. Because I would like to have a spare kit on hand. In the parts fish for the 96 you were looking at, is part 9 o-ring the one for fitting to the tank? That's what I was looking at. On the 93 part 10. The yellow stuff is from the tank liner, or what I assume is a tank liner,it's all in the tank. I appreciate the help tremendously, and thank you. The VFR is a sweet ride I've had only a little over a month. There is a good amount of non ethanol gas around here that I run. RIDE SAFE OUT THERE!
Nice job with that Tom. These are definitely unique petcocks. I'm wondering if you know what the owner did about the filter, considering they are not sold separately from the petcock?
I think cyanoacrylate adhesives are pretty stable in gasoline when it is 100% hydrocarbon, but the ethanol present may slowly weaken the bond. But the O-ring crush will probably keep the butt ends pressed together.
If this helps someone: the innards on the switch side are 100% the same as on the SC24 (cbr1000f) atleast of the facelift model of the sc24. So if one is available, and one not..
The aluminum is pinged . Or flared out. Not a rivet . Trivet yes. The mil.spec. is a labe quality. The Mil was a technology company that was a patent, manufacturing, design, science, and discovery. Of technology.

Awesome video, I had to fix my on the rode with touring. I finally got it to stop leaking but I butchered that together. Really nice work you did.
Thanks.

Yes. That’s the o-ring. I think it’s the same between years but I’d go with the fiche for your year to be sure.
Nice o ring trick, gotta try that one.
Nice work...thanks
Top job
Hey mate I’ve done the same. The seals on the shaft are actually x- ring type orings
Now you tell me. Lol.
Nice job with that Tom. These are definitely unique petcocks. I'm wondering if you know what the owner did about the filter, considering they are not sold separately from the petcock?
Nope. Sure don't. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I should have tried that. I did use ethanol free because it’s all I have in my 5 gallon cans. Great point.
So did I miss the part where you look at the o-ring that was leaking in the first place?
That weird shaped one. So I was told. This was third party.
@@MotoRestoFL naw, that's the cover gasket. there is an o=ring between the cover and the rotating shaft.
@@kpd3308 I see what you mean. Probably not, I mentioned I had one in stock from my O-Ring stash, frankly I can't exactly remember.
milatery is of Mil.. ( Mil Atery)

Ah... that's great info. Thanks.
